Space Jam A New Legacy - From Black Panther to Bugs Bunny

Does the original Space Jam hold up?

IIRC, I heard that the director of the first movie outright said another Space Jam wouldn't work in this day and age. Just something to think about.
Like, unless WB is catering to the meme (which btw, is a few years too late), there's no need for this to be made. Like, are the 'Toons going to be CGI now? Who's going to be facing them in Basketball this time? Will Bugs rap for the soundtrack again?

Get Ready to Jam... To another train wreck. For those going to watch it, please share your thoughts afterward; that's what I'm counting to be entertaining here, since this movie isn't shaping up to be by itself, honestly.

I actually had a terrible thought last night; if this movie bombs, will the Looney Tunes be reduced to terrible direct-to-video animated adaptations of live-action films, ala Tom & Jerry?

Yeah..... THAT is something we don't need. My boys Tom & Jerry have been fucked over enough, reputation-wise by such BS as it is by now. We don't need LT suffering the same fate anytime soon. This is a good reason alone for why sometimes dead (but not forgotten.) is better.

I don't know, if WB wanted to give Looney Tunes the same direct to dvd treatment as Scooby Doo and Tom & Jerry, they'd already be doing it right now. I know there was that Rabbit Run film a few years back, but other than that, LT hasn't really had any DtD films this decade.

But even with Rabbit Run, that at least had an original story.
I'm talking about the possibility of a terribly animated, Pooh's Adventures-tier remake of a live action movie with the Looney Tunes tacked on, ala that Tom & Jerry Willy Wonka thing from last year.

each time i get older, the less and less i grow to give shit about these characters. that's not into the whole slapstick comedy shtick anymore. still, pretty dumb trying to make a sequel for this.

I didn't like the original as a kid and I don't like it as an adult. So I don't fucking care about a sequel/reboot/whateverthefuck.

The original was corny and kinda bad, but had just enough charm at times when it just said 'fuck it' and decided to be silly as hell (it sucked at trying to be serious and dramatic) it had it's funny bits at least.

The worst mistake of the original was trying to take a concept that requires you have tongue planted firmly in cheek to roll with it and trying to invest it with any form of dramatic gravitas. The concept is just too silly to be able to take absolutely seriously.

If they want to make a better sequel, or at least something capturing anything that made the original borderline watchable, it NEEDS to require the self awareness throughout to refuse to take itself seriously.
