I like how they called out all the faggots expecting a subversive twist, the same people who keep repeating that the show is making fun of the chuds. They told them "is there something in our way of writing that made you think we're retarded hacks?"
>what if space king is an alien
>what if space king is a hypocrite
>what if space king is a dissapointment
>what is hatemonger is an alien
>what if hatemonger's gay
>what if hetemonger's a woman
>what if hatemonger's black/mexican

The le subversion redditor approach doesn't even work with this setting.

In-universe the plot is being made up and played through by children, and I have never once met, heard of or been a child that thought that adding a totes subversive twist that the cool thing is actually shitty and lame would be a good way to end a story.

That kind of plotpoint is the kind of thing that jaded, cynical adults shoehorn into a story, not something that a bunch of 12 year olds playing a tabletop would come up with. It's fucking gay and beyond overused, and our media has become so hypersaturated with it that, as Tom and Don say, the actual subversive and satisfying approach at this point would be to simply play it straight.

Genuinely, tell me what Space King being a fat hypocritical loser that left to get milk or a hoax made up by High Command adds to this story. Nothing. It's a twist for the sake of a twist that everyone would see coming a million miles away because it's the same hacky bullshit that everyone else has slapped into their stories for the past 30 years.

It's a bit concerning how people just NEED their favorite media to agree with them politically. I can't imagine being one of these normal-adjacent people and having to vet all my media in case it's from The Group I Don't Agree With. Sometimes media is just good media without a political nuance to it.(Although kids shows of the time did address political or social topics, they handled them with the respect and maturity the topics need. Being politically relevant is not a substitute for good writing.)
On another note, the "fandom design" of Hatemonger completely misses the point as usual, they're supposed to look like the head of a generic GI Joe action figure with the strong facial features, glass-cutting jawline and a 1:1 forehead-to-jaw ratio.

Because part of marketing kid's toys is making them easy to draw, notice how the majority of the facial features are simple and centered in the face. But more importantly if you draw a line between the nose and the mouth, you get an almost exact 50/50 in size between the two halves. This also means that Chestnut has a gigantic forehead.

Having white hair is for old guys, and long hair is for GIRLS. You're marketing them to 8 year-old boys, for god's sake! If anything, Hatemonger is either monk-bald or has a crew cut.
There's only two ways I could see Hatemonger's actual face reveal going, either played completely straight and he looks perfectly normal, or as a joke where his helmet breaks but every shot ends up with his head just out of view/obscured by something. The only real facial design I can imagine fitting his character would be a shaved head or bald, maybe with a scar across his face or H A T E inked across his forehead like a prison tattoo.

>they mentioned an "it was all a dream" plot
My fanfiction could still become a reality! 🌈🌈🌈

It'd be fucking retarded. Because the only thing subversion in this day and age ever does is make things less *less interesting*. What *would* be interesting is if they gave Space King's disappearance a legit cool lore reason behind it that informed the universe in some way and played off his sons somehow.

Among the many things GW has done to ruin it's lore, it's efforts to deconstruct the Emperor is the most damaging. It's been hotly debated whether he was in error of keeping knowledge of Chaos from his Primarchs, or if being open to them about it would have made them fall to it even sooner. But recent books have outright undermined the Emperor. Hell, it wasn't even by his hand that created the Space Marines, but was mostly the work of a woman literally named Astarte. I can't wait for it to be retconned that Big E stole credit for the Primarchs and the Custodes, too. They'll let him still be the sole creator of the Thunder Warriors, though. For they were failures and had to be purged to cover up his failure.

Tom and Don know this kind of writing is fucking gay.

god that was so fucking stupid
>Chaos lords took the kids and ruined everything
nah, it was karen

Mom got the kids in the divorce, and Dad is a blue collar worker on like an oil rig or something with insane hours and long stretches away from his sons.

+ SPACE KING 4 + | Kingsmas | +

The lads did it. They made another Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer parody and turned it into a Space King episode.

Archive

Casting choices

  • Zach Hadel (psychicpebbles, co-creator of Smiling Friends and co-host of OneyPlays) played Rudolph.
  • Game reviewer and publisher Mandalore played the first Misfit Psycho-Warrior on the Misfit planet that Rudolph's squad meets
  • 40k hobbyist Bricky played the second Misfit Psycho-Warrior on the Misfit planet that Rudolph's squad meets

Flashgitz's fourth parody

Space King 4 - Kingsmas is the fourth parody Flashgitz did of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, so the duo haven't forgotten their lost art of parodies as well as continued their Christmas tradition. Today is also the 61st anniversary of the original TV special, so this episode can be seen as a tribute as well.

Zach Hadel continues to be typecast. It's unbelievable. Might buy the Chestnut Hoodie, I need a hoodie I don't use sometimes for work. Can anyone attest to the quality of the material?

They lifted the 2003 Clone Wars holdout scene at the end of the episode. I fucking love this show, oh my God.
We know have a sound bite of Zack screaming he loves space king. This show is great.

I was just watching the scene again and I found Hatemonger's gun has a skull for a barrel. Fucking sick.

Meh, the first clear misfire. From the merely technical point of view it's neat, it's clear they're streamlining and improving quite a bit. Nice references, nice designs even for ships, equipment and further Legions and warriors.

Where are the jokes though? When after 26 minutes I find myself barely smirking once there's something off. A parody of a classic children's tale isn't out of character for FlashGitz and the theme of Space King itself (they're children playing Space Marines after all) but the lack of good comedic setups and jokes was kind of noticeable.

Interesting to see Mick Lauer and Zach Hadel on the same project ever since Mick's "Power Move" moment some years back.

I liked the episode, it was very different than the others, I think it should be called a special and not episode 4, it focused on some characters I dont think will become part of the main cast. Very cool they were able to slam this out in the slated time frame, if they could get an episode out every 3 months, that would rock

I liked it. Too much of a focus on Rudolf and the parody, but it’s a holiday episode.

I like the various bits:

- The ex-communist being a capitalist (His Legion’s symbol is a Red Star.

- The bit where Chestnut calls out his Squads flaws and him being 1000% on board with killing heretics.

- The Warpriest

- Yukon Cornelius being capable of killing the fucking thing the entire time.

- the ending

Also, there is an animation error with the Globlus. Chestnut has it one scene when he shouldn’t.

I liked the bit where Cornelius says that capitalists don't believe in anything (because they're soulless moneychasers)
I didn't like that Rudolph became a good guy, because that character was created by jews with the explicit purpose of taking the focus of Christmas out of Christ's birth to make it a more "secular" and "inclusive" holiday.
Maybe the ending of the episode teaches us that even the biggest, most physically deformed shabbos goy can turn back on the false prophets and heretics if his faith in the king of kings is strong enough.

Anyways

As a Christmas special I think it was a fun parody, but definitely more preoccupied with being a parody than an actual episode of Space King and jokes were a little lacking too. There were still some moments like Hatemonger's slur-missile and the finale that gave me a chuckle.

Good but not great episode.

He’s exiled from a communist legion. His symbol is a Red Star and it’s part of the joke. I do like your monologue about secular Christmas and Jews, though.
