Space King - Original Series by Flashgitz

Tom and Don have talked about this before, but the most subversive and satisfying thing for them to do is just play it straight and have Space King actually be awesome and cool.

Him being a scumbag that fucks aliens and/or doesn't care about the Psycho Warriors at all would be incredibly lame. That's a rick and morty tier twist.
NGL, but really kinda tells me how wack our current media climate has gotten that the subversive thing to do is play it straight.

Counterpoint, have Space King be a reprobate, all to further show that the boys are right and that their way, though initially born of a lie are in-fact correct and aliens are degenerate and gay.

It’s one thing to have a goofy twist and have Space King be like Ricky Bobby’s dad, it’s the reaction and effects that matter.

Have Space King be cursed that he is the coolest person ever unless you were molested by you father, and then he appears as a shitty dad. Would be a good Take That for BL authors like Aaron Dembski-Bowden that used the Emperor as a way to deal with their father complex and completely fucked previous lore.

Or Space King never appears at all. The road goes ever on and the real aliens we killed were all the aliens we killed along the way.

Playing Space King straight would be best. If it had to be subversive for whatever reason the only subversion I will accept is the idea that the mural we all know and love came before Space King rose to power and it singlehandedly influenced him in the design of the Space King/Psycho Warrior armor and Space King's ambitions of Total Alien Death and being awesome while doing it. Still stupid but it'd be minimally damaging to the image of Space King beyond it making him him look kind of retarded to attempt galactic conquest over a cool picture.

There will be a big season finale episode where the AI comes back and is completely unbeatable + impervious to all known weapons and energy-types in the universe after constantly adapting across reality after his escape, all hope seems lost and humanity are about to face judgement and be wiped out, then he gets utterly raped by the one thing he couldn't have possibly fought or adapted to; Space King.

SK returns in his son's greatest time of need and BTFO's the AI and all it's minions in a single blow, before then returning to his journey across the stars to get that space milk.

I feel like Tom and Don would just keep Space King mysterious. Revealing a mystery is almost always worse than just letting it stay a mystery where people can endlessly speculate and fill in with their own theories.

Like how in 40K the Terminus Decree was this cool and mysterious lore bit until Games Workshop fucked it up and revealed it was actually just telling the Grey Knights to keep the Emperor on the throne, somehow.

The question is sometimes more interesting than the answer, but it will never satisfy you.

A journey with no destination is no journey at all, that's just wandering.

if the twist is Space King is fake and gay it really guts the whole point of the show. 40k has that issue too where the Emperor was the greatest man ever, and now he's some retard who got lucky because of all the strong independent women that surrounded him. It brings into question what was the point of the story to begin with if even in universe none of it mattered. Worst of all it wouldn't be funny. I think the funniest way to bring back Space King is to have him show up, have all the legions fight each other for his attention, he gets so tired of everyone chasing after him that he scatters his artifacts again and runs away to buy more milk and cigarettes.

I like how both this thread and the space king reddit are equally autistic to a clinical degree and hate each other but both don't understand what they're watching and both are full of trannies.

Nah he should just be blue collar / military dad coming back from deployment.

SK is kinda like the rogue trader version of Big E. Just fucked off at some point and now everyone has to deal with the consequences.

Also emps was never the greatest man ever, he was at best a misguided idealist who mistook luck and raw power for competence.

From what I can gather from how Tom and Don speak about the show as a whole, the premise of Space King is meant to be boyish in nature. It's WH-flavored, but it plays out a lot like an adventure you'd have with your guy friends when you were younger. The squad arguing with and ribbing one another in a juvenile fashion and their relationship with High Command are two things that really highlight it. My favorite moment like this was Captain trying to convince High Command to let Terry come with them, like a kid trying to convince his dad to let his friend come over for a sleepover.

I could see Tom and Don portraying Space King himself like an older brother you thought was cool growing up that you realized might have been delinquent as you got older. The kind that would ride a motorcycle against your parents' wishes, date problematic women, and buy you cigarettes.
