Like names, bios, formatting messages to describe dialogue or actions, etc? Feels like the game has alot of fun mechanics but gets bogged the fuck down by having to respect some gay internetiquette, even if lightly as seen in LRP servers.

This is a social game with such an extreme level of detail and mechanical player freedom to perfectly encapsulate multiple schools of autism, the people who get hooked into this game usually read on the spectrum. Ultrasneed's dev and his team are a merry band of faggots, and the community is worse, but the game by itself can just be promoted as "doom but youre a robot" and even the most well adjusted person will play it with glee because it's a cool and fun game without any apparent faggotry.
When RP mechanics are not an "optional" and hidden thing, but probably the first thing you see before you even know how you unbuckle yourself from the passenger seat. You talk in quotes, all actions are described to you, it gives a feeling that you have to play the theater of mind to get the full gameplay. And we all know what RP attracts : Spoiled children, retarded furfags and power-tripping trannies. And that's regardless of medium, amino, deviantart, gmod, etc...

Or even in the opposite spectrum, because I knew people who played autistic sim games like Dwarf Fortress, Factorio, Hearts of Iron IV that are mechanically a mindfuck initially and didn't shy from sunlight or cut their balls off. The problem with SS13 is it has never really had any kind of cohesive vision that they pushed for, they just try to placate both LRP and HRP players and hope they self sort and that usually doesn't go well when people want to do specific things or lack of population force both groups to interact. They have to constantly balance shit because there's so little players that any meaningful change could cause a significant dip in that server's playerbase. I think because the game is open to anyone, there's always going to be a revolving door of people working on the project that want to shift the game one way or another so it will never find a place to settle, or have any other real end goal. Combined with the "If you don't like our codebase, make your own" mentality causing servers to grow, split, and die constantly. I've said it before, Ssethtide was just buying SS13 time and probably gave false hope that the game was anything than a flash in the pan. Literally the only people that are keeping it afloat are autists and trannies that can't cope with not being able to play anymore. I think RP doesn't have anything to do with it, it's just mentally ill people that can't let go of a game that wasn't that great in the first place, and by all means should have been a stepping stone to something better. Over time the autism is just being concentrated as only the most autistic or clinically diagnosed keep playing. I'm just glad I was able to play during it's peak when none of that RP shit mattered. It felt like everybody was more on the same wavelength back then. The closest thing I've seen is TGMC where everyone RPs as meathead space marines but its more about it being a meme and not serious. Which is ironic because Xenos are usually constantly malding at each other and trying hard.
LRP people are insufferable because they see the game as something to "win" and want to play antag as often as possible so they can use it as a way to stomp as many people as possible. Barring that they usually play assistant, and use their immense metaknowledge of the game to siphon all the station's resources for their gamer gear, and know exactly what to steal to get the most broken equipment at the expense of everyone else, just in case they "accidentally" come across an antag. Or they only roll sec because if they can't have fun, nobody can. Then basically become the Stanford Prison Experiment in practice. It's not enough to just play the game to them, someone else has to lose. Players like this pretty much only interact with mechanics to learn how to use them to kill people. That's the good faith interpretation that doesn't take into account the players that probably only play SS13 to do as much as they can to grief or otherwise just be a annoying cunt without getting banned. LRP basically means you're a smoothbrain that refuses to engage in the social aspect of an inherently social game either willfully or not. Maybe just play single player games.
HRP is shit too because you have trannies that use it as escapism and "be" their characters in a such a maladjusted way that they actually get upset when anything happens to their precious OC because this may as well be an alternate reality in their heads with how much some of them commit their brainpower to their characters. It's a shame because these are the same people that are probably the most knowledgeable about the cool and complex systems that SS13 has. The people that should be responsible for making sure the station has power, but instead is meowing with another cat "girl" in the bar, that should be making the medicine that cures the current virus ravaging the station. Or the faggots that use RP as an excuse to fuck with you, or make your life difficult for the sake of it because "it's what my character would do". Which makes me think people that enjoy HRP either have no friends because they are genuinely fucking annoying, or are literally incapable of playing TTRPGs with someone else without being so insufferable that they can't stay with a group. HRP means you're an annoying faggot that has to resort to playing SS13 because main character syndrome and/or being socially inept makes them incompatible with most other TTRPGs.
MRP just is slang for "We butchered the gameplay loop so LRP and HRP players never cross paths". Or they do something gay like on Monke where you can opt out of being killed by antags.

Scheduled private sessions with friends are great for playing with people you like or helping them get into SS13 in a controlled environment. But for larger servers it ends up always being a failure, to the point the player deficiency is so high important roles aren't being filled and rounds straight up refuse to start ( even more open servers, such as IS1 suffer from this). SS13 started becoming "popular" by forumtards discovering it and making a server for fellow forumtards to enjoy, I think this is the solution, having a server for a specific forum where like-minded people can join, it solves the problem of server pop and makes it so that you play with people you like or at least are familiar with, internet culture wise.

well, it's been around 2 days since my post that had the Lolcow Rane (real name Elijah Evanoff ) reveal themselves as the kiwi farms poster Finntech, Rane is ss14's most infamous drama whore, having spent the better part of three years of their life nearly every day dedicated to spreading lies and misinformation about a game that doesn't really need any convincing that it's autistic or poorly run, this all stems from Rane getting their ss14 server dehubbed because the admins had information that Rane was a pedophile and had groomed members of his discord, this simple action of a small indie game protecting their community has made Rane go on an crusade to kill ss14, something he's utterly failed in before even being revealed, the simple fact is. ss14 is boring, drama included. it's the bog standard discord drama that all of us hate reading because it's just words words words to explain that tranny 1 hates tranny 2 because of tranny reason. no one but him and other discord trannys care about it.
for some reason, rane feels he deserves the right to be apart of ss14, as he feels it will eventually get popular, and wants to be a name remembered by it's playerbase, it seems the monkey's paw did in fact have a finger go down, and this ended up being true for all the wrong reasons, the community of ss14 utterly hates rane because he is a manchild that views himself as smarter then everyone around him, even though he is a 28 year old neet that lives with his parents in ohio. there's lots of reasons to hate Rane, and the main one I feel is his superiority complex he has, as a narcissist, Rane thinks that no one can ever best him, he'll spend days, months, or years, just trying to convince random internet strangers on discord that he won, he can't even have the basic brain power to realize that he indeed is the loser, because no one else cares even a little bit about anything he has to say, unless he lies that he's someone else, something that angers him deeply. the only thing anyone cares about, is how funny it is to laugh at him.
