Still sad I had to quit SGDQ a few years back when the first trannies started getting runs. I just rather cut out my eyeballs and pierce my ears before watching & listening to such a creature again.

GDQ peaked in the 2013-2015 range. Back when the event would end and the smelly autists would still camp out in that dude's basement or in the conference room they rented at a hotel for another few days to do the bonus stream. They still got donations and it was just "we'll play whatever other games we brought with us".
Like this when they got enough donations during the bonus stream to shave Naegleria while he played F-Zero.

Now it's just trannies.

I was wrong. This type of stuff seems really comfy and nice to be at. Just sitting on a couch watching a guy play a game and get a haircut at the same time, I might have to watch the earlier days to get a feel for it and wonder how in the world did they fall off. Good stuff

You'll quickly realize why a lot of us who'd been watching since it's inception are really annoyed that it's turned into one of the worst things to exist in gaming and how when the coof struck, that it basically signaled the end of grassroots GDQ as we knew it.

Already smelled something was afoot when AGDQ became less and less about playing videogames and more and more about pushing ideologies before stopping watching completely. And I never looked back ever since.

As someone who used to play fighting games a lot, I can attest to the whole wu-flu being the end of anything grass roots related but, long story short, thanks to outside sources, capcom being jews and gay, and everything in between, a lot of fighting game tournaments either died or got invaded by troons. Both is worse but that's a story for a different thread.

Nigga that's speedrunning. It's mindlessly repeating a task hoping you grow enough of an audience to make a safespace echo chamber. Why do you think troons strive to become such a streamer?

And ironically, the FGC is the only other such extremist space in terms of muh small-scale indie personality-drive and sex-pest infestation. Both should and are on their way to dying.

The only thing that was ever worth watching for me is Awful Games Done Quick, watching a bunch of fat retards speedrun through buggy dogshit games like Shrek or Fester's Quest is infinitely more entertaining than watching some troon speedrun Majora's Mask for the 5000th time.

I highly recommend the Tomba 2 run from 2014 for being one of the most memorable runs in GDQ history.

Now that the dust has settled, here are the GDQ2005 runs that had over 100k views:

Pokemon Emerald 167k
Hollow Knight Silksong 127k
Super Mario 64 114k
Legend of Zelda Majora's Mask 104k
Dark Souls 293k
Path of Exile 2 107k
Super Mario Sunshine 106k

That's from roughly 150 runs. Not sure why the Pokemon game had so many views, it looked pretty boring at first glance. Maybe because it was the last or second-to-last run.

The comment section of the entire channel is moderated to fuck. There are very few comments (considering the amount of views) and any comment that exists is safe/positive.

I watched every GDQ up until the psychopaths started showing up and personally declare that this run was the grand finale to GDQ. Everything else after has plummeted to shit.

Yup those GDQ were peak.

Where I live there is a local/European country based one that's pretty small. I might visit it this year just to see. Still it's not the same as (older) GDQ although they attempt to copy a lot of the styles from GDQ.

Also there were some normal-ish people always in GDQ as well. Think about Trihex, Calebhart42, Siglemic, Bonesaw577, Zoast, pcull44444, witwix, Siglemic, Cosmo (he had mainstream appeal back then), Spikevegeta (I know he's still there), etc. People here would probably call them autists but in my opinion they are/were decently calibrated.

In the events here in Europe I just see mostly maximum autistic guys tbh. Maybe a few normal people but overall I feel like in the USA the nerds/autists are more normal than here. Here you literally get the reddit/discord moderator phenotype in 80% of the people there with the personality as well. Nothing wrong with that per se I am also autistic but I think I'd have a lot more fun in an event like (old) GDQ than those events here.

I really enjoy speedrunning lore videos that go into technical detail behind the exploits. I find those infinitely fascinating.
Watching an actual speedrun thought? Ugh fuck that. The WR ones are not really interesting to watch since the runner's just gonna be focussed in once they realize they're on good pace. And the events, well like everybody said, they used to be enjoyable but even back then the ones I really enjoyed usually had interesting people on the couch. God I hated the fucking donations. Especially when the MC kept asking when they could read donations. Never you fag, shut up, they're being entertaining, you're not! I haven't watched it in so long so I dread to hear what it's become.

Fuck trannies.

I watched V0oid's Donkey Kong Bananza run this year and it was a good watch. Just have to be picky. But it still has the thing that I dislike and that is that the event is less intimate and more like a "showcase". Which yes it was back then too, I don't think there were many WR's or serious attempts. But it was definitely more funny and goofy. Just more of a chill vibe having fun with friends. I think it's hard to keep that intact when an event grows. It's just inevitable. Now it's more like a SHOWcase with emphasis on show.

The LGBTQ stuff I don't really find it that prevalent in the runs itself. So that's fine by me. I don't even mind the LGBTQ stuff unless they overdo it.

I have followed the FGC also for a while and the biggest problem there is that a lot of people in leadership positions there are not capable of being a good leader/manager. For example Hax$ was treated very unprofessional by TO's and you could see this group think happen "he bad!!!" and majority of TO's just accepted that as the narrative and punished him very harshly.
Plus the fact he got punished for too long by ignoring his pleas and they didn't help him come back into the scene. Just reeks of people who don't understand how to be objective and punish accordingly and being a good leader. If you want to punish someone make sure it's fair and be open to the guy vs. this exile type of punishment. Just a lack of a good leader who is fair and sets a good example to other TO's. Instead you got these feminized group thinkers passive aggressive fuckers being responsible for this scene.

The sex pest stuff I mean yea it's there. It's everywhere. Not just these niche events. It's everywhere. You need good leadership to set a good example. It seems to me these events lack good leadership and just run by hobbyists or power hungry autistic basement dwellers. A few good leaders/managers/TO's/etc. for these events would solve a lot. I also think there's too much friend politics where they cover each others asses. They are like children with dynamite. Do that long enough and your event quality just goes down hill more and more because you keep the crappy people in and those who are decent will leave if you mistreat them

There is no leadership.

It's 98%+ volunteers and/or third parties who do it for free (and deserve the same respect as forum jannies) in the hopes of trying to gain some level of fame for their own "content creator" channels. Virtually none of the $200,000 to $500,000 paid to GDQ (plus any other money it made through other channels) has ever gone into actually improving the event and this has been the case for a very long time. This is the same for basically every video game event ever made and is doubly the case for FGC events.

even in television charity programs the donations are never read aloud and just scroll harmlessly along the bottom like a crawler and at the end of the program they only read out the top 3 and show a segment of the host holding a gigantic cheque the size of a billboard and handing it over to the whoever on camera but never as intrusive as AGDQ does it

and certainly never has it got in the way of the talent show segment (arguably the most interesting part, imo - unless ur autistic and like to watch the same building tour of their headquarters again for the ?th time) like the way they stall the speedrunning

i thought the GDQ stands for Games Done Quick and not Gayass Donation Quibbling

I think the entire reason they used to read out donations in the first place was beacuse they never had all that. They just used donation reading to fill dead air and otherwise and nobody's hilarious underused jokes would be read.

And I guess maybe to incentivize donations since there wasn't much of anything else back then.

If I had to hear Trans Rights!!!!! one more time i was ready to become a statistic
I remember a few years ago I was getting annoyed by it too but now I just watch VODs of AGDQ/SGDQ and barely hear about it in there. So maybe it's more during the livestreams? Or did it become less the last few years.
