Welp. And that's why I eventually dropped following comics long-term, they inevitably become retarded. It's interesting how the Invincible comic reflected the mentality of the years, and how it gets dumber and more depressing as the 2010s arrived, peak moment of idiocy IMO.

Batman losing everything, including Alfred, and then having Jim G. become a beatcop was also another "how the fuck we arrived here" moment.

Read the first issue of Absolute Batman and i liked it. I am iffy on the artwork, some of it looks really good (like Batman's costume, the Party Animal masks) and some of it i dislike a lot (Alfred's and Bruce's designs. Hell, any character out of costume really), the colours are also not to my taste. The story so far definitely makes me want to read more of it, i liked the changes to the classic Batman backstory and stuff like that, even if the wiriting is just average. Not a bad comic at all so far but it's also not blowing me away.

Edit: The proportions is what makes me not like the out-of-costume characters. Chunky Batman looks pretty good, chunky Bruce just looks silly.

It sure does have some really neat panels:

The entertainment industry has no shortage of people who believe that they are more clever than their audience. Professionals in the comic book industry tend to be more brazen about it because the direct market made it so that retailers absorb all the losses, which is why shops either diversify away from comic books or shut down. (Often the former, then the latter.) Many of them operate under the assumption that the fans will buy anything you drop in front of them and that critics constitute a "vocal minority".

Finished the Harras Avengers run. It's great and totally underrated. A team of B-Listers, like Black Knight and Black Widow, is far more interesting then a team of the same A-Listers over and over again. The people who cry about 90's Avengers need to shut up. It's got some really great art in it and it's far better written then the Bendis slop that comes after it.

The sad thing is that there's some truth to them thinking like this. If you ever make the mistake of browsing the CBR message boards it's fill with people whining about the state of Marvel comics and yet you see those same people happily admitting to buying the very same comics they hate in other threads like the cattle that they are. The complete X-Men subform right now is basically just that. I get a message board isn't the real world, but it's still worry some seeing the market for comics is tiny to began with.

The only Marvel comics I routinely buy are She-Hulk and Daredevil.

oh yeah that era of Avengers was great. Hercules, Black Widow, Black Knight, and Crystal are still relevantly important characters without being A-listers.

Finished reading Absolute Batman's "The Zoo" arc and ended up liking it a lot. Don't have much to add except that i will read the rest of the issues that are out tonight.
It's good.
My pull list is berserk so I'm just reading this one as the trades come out.
I will be getting the next issue with the other half of the Wonder Woman crossover though.

More Batman talk, anyone else digging the new main Batman book?
I like how Bruce is less grim dark here.
Just nice to see something that isn't one billion percent serious.

I’m sort of indifferent to it. I prefer a darker Batman, the Arkham games are my definitive version, but this one is fine. The art does more of the work. The doctor lady is pretty hot so it’s nice that she’s prominent. The one thing that does intrigue me is that new villain I’m looking forward to seeing what happens with him.

The art is on point here.
Zeller is pretty hot and I kinda hope they lean into her and Bruce's relationship.
I'm sick to death of the whole Bat/Cat thing.
My worry is that she ends up being a "bad girl", sometimes a lady just needs saving.
Minotaur seems pretty ruthless in his debut.

Spiderman and Daredevil letting Kingpin live constantly is not any better than Batman letting The Joker live constantly.

Both are defeated constantly, both have done horrific things and constantly get away from punishment thanks to corruption from the system.

So anyone that claims to hate Batman for not killing the joker but love Spiderman and Daredevil is really a hypocrite at the end of the day.

I don't like when writers make a big deal about Batman not killing or not using guns
