I like my mysticism and shit like that, but I never understood the fascination with Crowley. Is it entirely English thing? One of us so we gotta pretend that he is relevant?
My hatred for Anglo's mostly blinds me, but Crowley had influence in a lot of circles for no reason. He rubbed shoulders with the Kinsey guy, you know the guy who was funded by the Rockefeller's to push for multiple partners outside of marriage and sexuality as a spectrum? He was a rich degenerate in his youth and was well-travelled, he was basically proto-L. Ron Hubbard. I know chicks who got in tarot and because Crowley made a tarot card deck they get really into him, but the dude had a religious experience after getting his asshole filled by another man. He's not some visionary, he's literally a rich kid who knew enough about Eastern Religion to write some good fantasy short stories and British nerds chose him over Lovecraft. That's about it.

modern fantastic four is fun but that's only because they've stuck to the classic dynamics.
I love the series, especially Ben's interactions with his adopted Kree and Skrull kids.

The scene where Doom's fiancé confessed to fucking Johnny the night before the wedding was COMEDY GOLD, JERRY! GOLD!

it does the basic right things in giving us the good shit without shilling an agenda.

Johnny Storm cucking Doom to become the real greatest enemy of doom? Priceless.

Namor and T'Challa's reactions? Even more priceless.

i do enjoy the whole Alicia Grimm using the puppet master clay to do stuff. It might be interesting.

Jewish nonsense from the Kabbalah. It's a branch of mysticism that really attracts psueds because Alister Crowley talked about it once, and Crowley is someone I find fucking hilarious because the minute someone starts talking about that man you can kinda write them off depending on if they talk about him as a spiritual leader or a businessman. Hulk is a branch of the Jewish tree of life or some shit, he's there to clean up messes, blah blah blah dualism blah blah blah.

I prefer where evil doesn't actually have mass of it's own. It's a parasite or corrupted good that's born out of sin. If you go the Divine route then Good doesn't understand Evil initially, I hate niggas who go dualism like the Devil is God's equal when the Devil's job in the majority of Christianity, Islam, and Judaism is to tempt, if you fall it's on you. So yeah, Banner and Leader being related is so we can have more basic bitch dualism.

I liked Immortal Hulk to begin with. It actually referenced Zorastrianism which I find very interesting. I also enjoy some strong mystic themes and it began strong and I didn't hate the ending. But it began to wander a bit in the last third and the art wasn't as good later on. I found out only after finishing it that this was because the writer got the artist (Joe Bennet) fired for a pro-Bolsanaro cartoon depicting several of his political opponents as rats. Al Ewing (writer) took this to be anti-semitic because ANY depiction of someone as a rat must be based on Nazi propaganda movies, apparently.

This is probably old news to everyone in the thread and been discussed. But I only just found out. Joe Bennet is a really good artist and the series would not have been as good without him.

Mother of Madness has to be one of the worst put together comics I've come across. Other than the ugly costume the main heroine wears, it's got page layouts like this...
FCuL646XMAQyRjZ

FCuDhorX0AEAzen

FCuCS66WYAUFtEJ

It tries to tackle serious subjects like human trafficking, but fails as you can see here.

True, but Reed still has to kiss Sue's whore mouth every night. Imagine kissing a mouth that's had scarred gypsy, fish dick, black furry, and probably Parker Jizz in it.
eh i mean they've been pretty consistent about Sue and Reed.

Alicia? Now that's someone who's probably had it all.

Batman - The Long Halloween Special was alright. I didn't feel the same as Captain America White, where the writing of Loeb was good but the art by Tim Sale was fucking terrible.

I remember almost nothing of the original Long, but when I read it, it was my favorite batman story

Horrifying.

Still, I'm stunned. Jeph Loeb has been at Marvel almost exclusively for what? Fifteen years? Did something happen?

If you like it that's fine. Me, I just got down junking most of my FF collection post 90.

The Fraction era was so half hearted and demeaning I barely could muster the passion to read Robinson's run. It wasn't good. Then Hickman's abomination Secret Wars sealed it.

I recently went back. I had everything from Pacheo to Fraction and it was sitting there unread since Secret Wars. I read through and while I enjoyed the Loeb/Pacheo run; I found myself struggling to read the rest. I still have my Byrne/Simonson stuff.

It was actually cathartic. Johnny sleeping with a married woman, especially Dr. Doom's girl, sounds awful to me so I'll pass.

You liked this shit? I will never understand people defending this knock off, Grant Morrison wannabe.

i think a lot of the older writers just stopped giving a shit because of all the editorial shifts and corporate mandates.

oh yeah that era was just kinda the f4 not doing much.

liked the Allred future foundation book, that was nice. the actual f4 comics at that time kept looping into the same fucking things.

i liked bits and pieces of it but the forced bullshit didn't work.

oh no ur not really oppressed bc ur white says the black woman to the Jekyll/Hyde guy with multiple personalities. i really wish they didn't make her into a deux ex machina of a character, imagine how interesting it could have been if she chimped out or something.

Maybe. Loeb was running Marvel television at one point. Maybe he got canned?

Allred's aren't was always a nice fit. But the characters were, off.

except she wasn't married, and isn't married lmao.

Well, sleeping with somebodies not wife wife. Its the other side of scummy. Add to that just genuine disgust and I'm good and out as far as the F4 are concerned.

It's weird. There are very few black woman I know under the age fifty that aren't angry plenty.

honestly i'm just wondering why the fuck they wrote her as trying to lecture the hulk on white privilege.

like, that was the immersion breaker because ain't nobody lecturing the hulk, especially in universe lmao.

Old boomer doing old boomer things:

Loeb's reason, according to Shinkoda, was because "nobody cares about Chinese people and Asian people." Shinkoda quoted what he's heard from "many" sources, including writers and showrunners: "There were three previous Marvel movies, a trilogy called Blade where Wesley Snipes kills 200 Asians. Nobody gives a shit. So don't write about Nobu and Gao. And they were forced to put their storyline down and drop it."

He also got into some similar "problems" with Iron Fist show I think.
