The problem with DC is that while Marvel was just starting their MCU, DC was still busy with their dumb Nolan movies. If they had just done their own thing it would've been fine, but they felt they needed to play catch up with Marvel and that's why all these movies are just so rushed.

As for Aquaman, I'd like something cool, but I figure it's just gonna be aquatic Khal Drogo due to how lazy these folks are. They seem adamant in wanting to erase the audiences' mental image of Family Guy Aquaman.

Personally I've always preferred comic-wise DC to Marvel (i like very few Marvel characters tbh), but it's really embarrassing what DC is doing with their movies. Last i heard, they're planning on making a Booster Gold/Blue Beetle movie...Man I love those two but they only work in awesome/fun/cornball scenarios. It just won't work in this grimdark world the DC movies are set in....Sigh. (:_(

So they should go full 1980's conservative superhero with him? I would like to see near-Bibleman supes.
I don't actually know that much about comic history, so I'm not sure what you mean here. Basically I'd just like a really honest, down-to-earth almost Jimmy Stewart-ish Superman, and I'd appreciate more domesticity, too.
But bear in mind that my favourite part of the Star Wars prequels was the politics, so I may just have bad taste.

Just as long as it's not anything related to that awful Grounded series that JMS did.

I feel like I'm alone in the demographic that could really care less about adaptations and is only here for comics regardless of publisher. I get that it's the current fad but mixed with Marvel's comic branch (and to a lesser extend DC) making the exact same marketing mistakes that nearly killed the industry in the 90s I can only see things decaying more then ever especially if the film bubble bursts soon. The films don't even interest me as I can give no fucks about superheroes when it comes to the Big 2, the interesting part is the massive world, history, and how anything can happen. I've become jaded about the whole thing.

I completely disagree that superhero movies are only viable when paired with a super-tanker of shoe-gazing hipster camp. Characters like Batman and Daredevil are much darker and brooding than say Spider-Man and Superman. Also, why must comic-books all pander to kids? What about stuff like Preacher or The Walking Dead?

I hate to drag the attention away from Spurging about shit movies, but what comic series does everyone want to have to have a movie spinoff. I'm personally rooting for SAGA or seconds to be adapted at some point, but what does everyone else think?
I really want to see the Daredevil show adapt the Born Again storyline.

Also, maybe it's just me, but it seems a little weird to me when I see people claiming Suicide Squad should be "fun". Not to be an edge lord or comic sperg (much) but at least what little i saw of the comics Squad always presented a grim and dour story, people dying left and right and characters not giving a shit...It could work as a comedy if it had more black humor or was a satire/commentary on society, but "fun" ala Guardians of the Galaxy? I dunno...

Eh there are lots of "fun" teams in DC to make movies out of (the original Young Justice, Justice League International). A fun/cheesy movie would fit them a lot better than the Squad. (but tbh I don't want either to be "grimmified" in these movies, modern comics already did that /forever salty about it/).

Marvel Cinematic > DC Cinematic
DC Animation > a pile of steaming crap > Marvek Animation.

Idk why but DC is always on point with its Animation since Batman the Animated series.

I'm still scratching my head as to why Cyborg is even in Justice League at all.

I can see it since Cyborg was in the Super Friends in its later seasons as a junior member along with Firestorm. Super Friends is the animated Justice League of the 70's and 80's afterall.

Or Sin City, Sandman, Watchmen.

It's been hinted at before. The New 52 was supposed to put the DCU more in line with the cinematic universe they were planning (If only Man of Steel was an adaptation of Morrison's Action Comics....) and Diane Nelson or some other suit mandated the Justice League to have a token black character. Johns being the massive Hal Jordan fanboy he is replaced Martian Manhunter with Cyborg just to ensure that they wouldn't toss Hal aside in favor of John Stewart in the reboot or the movies.

Thanks for clearing that for me. I always figured that he was only there because DC needed a token black character and was wondering why the didn't just do what the animated series did and stick Stewart as their Green Lantern.

Btw, is there another black Teen Titan? Because if they ever decide to make a Teen Titans movie (doubtful), they might have screwed themselves when the SJW's cry that there's no black representation.

The New 52 line-up had Power Girl, a successor the original had picked right before she finally went back to Earth 2, and the current Rebirth line-up has the younger Wally West, he's a cousin of the original (was a retcon in Rebirth just to bring old Wally back, was supposed to replace him). They have other options like Bumblebee too if they want to make a new line-up just for the films

Or they could use Bunker who is an original character they created during the New52's version of the Teen Titans. (He's Hispanic and gay.)

Don't forget Skitter! Or do because she wasn't fleshed out well in Lobdell's TT run.
It's better to forget everything Lobdell writes.

My favorite thing about Bunker isn't the character itself but how Marvel tried to steal the spotlight by implying their new at the time black/latino Spider-Man might be gay "but you need to read to find out!". There are people who think Miles Morales is homosexual to this day from the marketing.

What does everyone think of Rebirth so far? I'm absolutely surprised by the quality of the comics they're putting out under Rebirth, they're really quite good.

And, just because I need to be contrarian, fuck putting Harley in Suicide Squad. Suicide Squad is a way to give gimmicky, forgotten, supervillains a second chance and give them a few good moments before they croak. So... Why put a high-profile villain you're most definitely not gonna kill off as the face?

REEEE NORMIES GET OUT OF MY C-LIST COMIC
