Spitting Image to return - Rubber man bad

Okay, they do have the balls to include a Xi Jinping puppet among the world leaders. I'm cautiously optimistic.

He's there. Look in the background of the Kanye running the UN scene. It's blink and you miss it, and I'm not sure if they've released an image of the actual puppet up close like some of the others, but Chairman Xi is a puppet

@CWCissey Yeah, I saw the Xi puppet, I wrote "they do", not "do they" and there's no question mark so it wasn't a question.

It remains to be seen whether they'll do much of anything with the Xi Jinping puppet or whether he'll remain background furniture in scenes with multiple world leaders but the mere existence of the Xi puppet will probably be enough for it to be frowned upon by the CCP.

Ah shit sorry fam, I read it as a 'Do they'.

I must have really needed another brew at that time!

Sorry for the double post, but the Twitter account is posting clips.

They're...not good.

Trump making the Kung Flu his new VP was mildly funny, but the other two were just shit. I'm surprised they haven't just done a Dominic Cummings sketch where they just scream 'BARNARD'S CASTLE' while he gets an eye test it's that fuckin' predictable.

I actually really liked it, the puppets look pretty decent and the skits were actually very funny, the only scene i didn't like was with Priti Patel and Michael Gove, but overall i give the new series a 4.5/5

Eh, it did have it's moments (The New Zealand song particularly!) but it also has worrying signs. The aside comments designed to make a dumb point (Lady Labcoat's after Trump says she's lab hot is the most egregious), the threat of catchphrase comedy (Greta yelling 'HOT!' the first time was funny. The second time less so, I hope that's not going to be the sole thing that the writers do with that puppet, even the Lewis Hamilton being a hypocrite bit could become lazy catchphrase comedy). The over-representation of right-wing politicians.

The writers may need time, but they also may need a slap, which we should prepare to give.

I'll give them this, if nothing else, they're not afraid to call out America for trying to capitalize on the BLM movement. I'm also surprised they got some American VA talent to work on the show, it reminds me of the NBC specials the original team did that got Harry Shearer and Frank Welker to do voices.

I've watched the first two episodes and I thought they were pretty good. That said, a lot of the jokes aren't particularly original or cutting. The one about the Democrats paying lazy lip service to the plight of minorities is only funny if you've never spent any time on the internet and isn't a take anyone outside the most rabid partisan is going to disagree with. I think that's the biggest issue with a show like this coming back - it was cutting edge at a time when everyone got their news from the papers and the TV, but in the age of the internet it seems a bit twee.

That said, it's refreshing to see a comedy show that takes the piss out of everyone, which is something you don't really see outside South Park these days. They also take a shot Xi Jingping in the second episode which was surprisingly edgy.

The parts with Nancy Pelosi were disturbingly pretty accurate

Just watched the second episode, good to see Greta doing other stuff as that puppet has the most potential. The Pence stuff was predictable and lame but did lead to a good payoff, the voice actor for Elon Musk does a surprisingly good Bowie, I wondered if they'd bagged Jermaine Clement at first and that Chairman Xi sketch? Yeah this show is now banned in China.

I did notice that this episode was chock-full of football references, I know the Jurgen Klopp puppet was itching for a spin, and the writers no longer need to cater to American audiences since NBC pussed out, but there's more to the news than the Wuhan Cough, football and RIGHT WINGERS BAD.

I thought it was better than the first, definitely some much funnier jokes, and I think John DiMaggio was voicing Elon Musk, which I think he did a pretty good job.

Which makes me wonder why he would work for such a politically incorrect show like this considering how Woke he and Billy West are.

Work is work, and I guess he's OK with it as it targets the 'right' people.

NEW EPISODE.

Not a bad one, the Xi Jinping sketch was pretty funny, and I think Prince Harry has cemented himself as the funniest puppet. Legit laughed at Jared Kushner being a wax model that only ever moves off-camera.

New episode has just dropped, any thoughts...

The open sketch with Tyson Fury punching BoJo was really fucking lazy, but the Prince Charles one made up for it straight away.
'Women want you to catch them, even when they look scared!' Line of the episode from Joe Biden.
The Michael Gove sketches are OK.
NARENDRA MODI GOT A PUPPET. PREPARE FOR THE SHIT TSUNAMI.
Jared Kushner succeeding by doing nothing is still funny.
The Twitter song was pretty good.
The Mitch McConnell sketch was just whining.
Adele losing weight was the flavour of the minute months ago, she's been embroiled in an appropriation ree-a-thon since then.
The writers sure have a thing about making powerful women vampires, don't they?
A Scotland sketch without Little Jimmy Krankee? Disgraceful.
And Jacinda Ardern as Mary Poppins continues to be the cleverest satire this show has to offer.
