Splitgate - THIS IS NOT A VIDYA CONTROVERSY Splitgate is a FPS shooter

what are your guys preferred weapons.
I like the Carbine because it is like Halo Reach's DMR, 11 years of practice finally being used again.
Plasma Rifle and Assault Rifle are secondary's for close encounters as they mimic halos weapons of the same name, although I prefer the halo version of the Plasma Rifle (especially dual wielding both variants in Halo II). the Assault Rifle reminds me of the Scoped SMG from ODST, a beloved Classic in my book.
The Shotgun is nice, if a bit short in the clip department.
The Sniper is Subpar
The Battle Rifle is also great, I think it has a large Headshot range then the Carbine.
The SMG is nice enough, a good middle ground in terms of range between a shotgun/bat and the mid range assault/plasma rifle
The pistol and Railgun are weapons I have not used often enough
The Rocket Launcher reminds me of Fire Warriors rocket Launcher, not a room clearer.
They do not have the skins uploaded on the web and in general it seems to have jack shit in terms of maps and shit online to look at

Interesting game, but I've never enjoyed Halo and this is obviously borrowing heavily from it.

First off, the Linux version works really well. Very impressed.

I stuck to just Team Deathmatch and found myself really growing to hate the average combat encounter after a while. Too floaty and slow IMO. Nothing wrong with it I guess, but it's not for me.

No visible ping/network info had me wondering if some of my deaths were due to lag instead of bad placement/aim. There could be a setting for it, but I didn't look.

And with the portals I don't feel like I have control over any part of the map at any time and might as well just be spinning around in circles constantly to check for people flanking. The maps are incredibly vertical in design and have a lot of long-range sight lines to begin with, and adding in the portals makes it even more crazy and hard to track. I guess I'm too accustomed to FPSs where you have a "clear" part of the map, like TF2 and the typical CoD-like.

Similar to Fortnite with its building mechanics, I'll be eagerly awaiting to see what truly talented players come up with in higher-level play.

Not for me/10.

I like how people think it's some controversy because it ends with gate. Back on topic I wonder if the devs are going to add a map editor.

forge mode, and a co-op campaign would greatly sweeten the deal

I played this a while back before the Master Chief Collection had come to Steam. At the time I wasn't really a fan. The maps were very poorly laid out, weapons had too many overlapping niches and the art style was too eye searing. My friend convinced me to play it again recently and it is a bit better on all of those fronts now.

I've been having fun with it lately but I don't really feel like it has legs. Between what seems to be forced crossplay between console and PC and its current surge of popularity being almost solely because its a "new" free game and it being pushed by FPS Youtubers I feel like it will burn bright and burn out. Which it has already done once before two years ago when it similarly had Youtubers and streamers shilling it for a month or so.

Anyone playing Splitgate 2?
The gameplay is fun but every match is majority bots and there’s no sense of progression.
I like that they slapped Halo, Black Ops 3 and Portal together but don’t see it lasting.

Yeah ive been on the grind. Haven't touched BR and mostly do onslaught mode. Maxed out Sabrask class XP and have just the SMG to max after im done with the DMR.

Enjoying just about everything about it, though listening to niggers hotmic'd all match is a little grating.
