In case anyone is wondering what these tarps should look like, here's how they look on Torrid's website:

In her delusions, this is what Amberlynn thinks she looks like, or maybe it's what she'll look like when after loosing weight.

Are you sure about this? None of those fibers stretch very well at all. Rayon is very stretchy, I'm sure that's why they use it for fatties. You say it's cheaper but I never see rayon tarps like that at wommart, everything is made of cotton material.

Spoiler: Textile sperging

Stretchiness, or lack of, is due to the stucture of the fabric. Things like cotton, silk, wool, nylon, polyester refer to the "fiber". Basically fibers are what individual yarns (tiny in textiles) are made of, and the structure is how those yarns are woven together to make the fabric. Stretchy fabrics are known as knits, because the yarns are basically knit together to allow the yarns to move away from each other and back. Whereas the non-stretchy fabrics, known as "woven" fabrics have yarns that are basically cross-hatched together and have much less movement.
So you can have garments that are 100% cotton but still stretchy. Like t shirts.

Rayon isn't used in tarps because it becomes weak when wet. It's appeal is in the slinky, airy feel and appearance, like silk but much less expensive, and without the artificial shine of polyester. Cotton is generally more "stiff" feeling and a lot more prone to wrinkling.

I mean it's in the name, of course horrid- I mean Torrid have hideous, cheap, ugly tarps for their manatee-shirt wearing customers. Do they get worse as the sizes go up though? These are some real trashy and hideous patterns and nobody, absolutely nobody is focusing on the terribly unflattering cuts on these hamplanets, so you'd think they'd at least use cute prints and designs for 'em?

It's happening, isn't it? I'm going all 'fashion at every size', aren't I?
I just think it's odd that a supermega plus-sized retailer makes the clothes uglier for their most dedicated seambusters.

I mean why not just call it a day an sew some nice curtains or quilt covers together at that point? ayyy.

Ive always thought her flower pattern dresses all look like late 80's bathroom wallpaper. Some of the patterns she gets I think look a little interesting, Ive definitely seen bigger people wearing clothes like that and manage to pull it off, but the flower shit is too flashy and reminds me of great aunt Margie, your morbidly obese 70 year old, blind-in-one-eye diabetic relative you only knew at the age of 5 and she would park her scooter near the door at family events talk at you about how youve shot up since she last saw you and how are your studies going?

I think the flower prints are meant to be kind of like "secretary, office attire," right? Like it's not meant to be actual fashion you would wear "out", right?

Looked these up myself, and, as I suspected, all of them are made of rayon, which is basically bootleg cotton/silk/wool/whatever natural fiber you want to mimick. Really popular in cheap clothing these days. Becomes weak in water and has very poor elastic recovery. Also very prone to shrinkage.
The care directions on Torrid's site say "wash cold, hang dry," though normally dry cleaning is what's recommended.

So with as lazy as I imagine she is about clothing, even if she had no problem getting into these dresses, they're still likely to fall apart after a few uses.

At least 3 of the tarps are made of that Challis fabric she always says she hates, yet she keeps buying it. Absolutely exceptional.

Watching the video, our gorl does seem to be weighed down by her mental cage. She's not nearly as squealy as her other SOOOO KYOOOOOT!!! torrid hauls--maybe the sodium overload is giving her fatigue? Or maybe she's built up such a tolerance to her spending binges now that the high is over before the products even arrive. Either way, Amber's looking like a constipated turd today (aka two weeks ago)

She’s been buying these things for years, but all I ever see her wear is that horrible dingy grey bra and that black and white patterned thing with the one inch straps that I always thought was a top but apparently is a maxi dress. And her holey black laygings with a dress and cardigan (which I haven’t seen in a while. )

That bra, dress, and laygings have gone above and beyond, and when they finally give out, should be given a military funeral with a 21 gun salute. Or, will be buried with Amber.

Meh. Torrid is like pretty much every other store on earth: You can find a nice piece here and there, and can usually find something you can make work for you. If you impulsively buy literally everything that catches your eye, you're going to end up with a huge pile of clothes you never wear (and a slightly smaller pile of clothes you do wear, but probably shouldn't).

Trouble is, AL has trashy, shitty taste. No matter where she shops, no matter what size she wears, she's going to look like crap. That, and she doesn't have the option of combining a shirt from Store A with pants from Store B and accessories from Store C to try to pull together an outfit that doesn't look like hell.

And, of course, she doesn't have any concept whatsoever of what actually suits her. I'm not even talking about sizes (though that's an issue with her, too -- no, just because you can physically pull a shirt over your head, that doesn't mean it fits). Some styles just don't suit everyone, even if you think it looks cyuuute on the rack. Deal with it, bitch.

This is definitely true in general, but I no longer believe Amberlynn is impulse-shopping when it comes to TORD. At this point I think she's intentionally buying shit just to haul for youtube. She has said in the past that whatever she spends on torrid, she makes all the money back and more by filming a haul video. I don't thinks she cares one bit that nothing she buys fits her or is just plain ugly. Not one bit.

She's just buying props for her channel at this point. btw, I'm pretty sure @Long time lurker originated this theory.

Rayon combined with spandex can be silky and stretchy but plain woven rayon generally is used instead of something like silk. Inexpensive blouses are almost always rayon (the truly cheap are polyester), sometimes with a touch of cotton for stability. When it's used in a sweater blend, it's frequently labeled viscose. Fabric whore here.

After double-checking on Wiki, I see rayon is considered the least elastic thread, aka the worst choice for Big Al.
