I have been trying that since my parents let me go out of the house alone (7th grade? 8th grade? somewhere around there) and haven't actually made a single lasting friendship despite trying everything from t shirts to buttons to wandering around the game store and the manga section of bookstore til someone talked to me. The people in my city suck and there's not much I can do about it. Best I can do is go to conventions, but those are expansive and I can usually only afford to go to one a year, and even then I usually don't keep in contact with those people for more than 2 weeks before they stop talking to me.

I don't use it as an excuse, I never even mentioned my illness until people tried to say I don't have it. And unfortunately, with things like my social anxiety, I'm not going to say "It's my fault I can't talk to people". I blame myself for enough shit in my life.
