I don't have it myself, but I know that Bipolar disorder is notoriously hard to control. If you're bipolar your emotions have highs and lows, so you never know what to expect emotionally. There also are a bajillion different type of bipolar medication, most of which have horrible side effects. Maybe if you're lucky you'll find one that actually works okay for you. And if the medication make you feel good or "normal" again, you stop taking them, which just makes things worse...

Maybe that's why Spring's so mental.

Well, you're half right. Lithium and lamotrigine have high success rates, although they have their caveats (like lithium not controlling depressive episodes). The real problems clme when the patient doesn't respond to them, in which case prepare for a chemical bath.

You're pretty spot on about the side effects though. Lithium is actually pretty mild, but lamotrigine is really fucking awful regarding its side effects (probably because it's actually an anticonvulsive).

Lamotrigine seems pretty tame compared to other stuff I have dealt with, but that's just my experiences. It only really sucks if I miss a dose or two, in which case batten down the hatches. SNRIs are downright bastards. SSRIs just don't work.

Also it's amusing Spring hasn't been diagnosed with anything. She does realize "exhibiting traits of" does not equal a diagnosis right?

But then again that's probably setting the bar too high.

I don't have any experience with SNRI or SSRIs since that's for other mental illnesses other than mine. But seriously, you think Lamictal is mild? That stuff fucks you up hard. I'm talking about half your body feeling numb and loss of coordination and memory problems and insomnia. Were you prescribed arsenic or something?

I take Lamictal for my epilepsy, and it's doing well for me. Better than the other meds I tried. Epilepsy medicine is kind of a pick your poison deal, so my opinion might be a little skewed. But I think it just varies according to the person.

All those side effects seem to happen when they're prescribed to people who don't have epilepsy. But yeah, bipolar medication is also a minefield if lithium doesn't work (not that lithium is perfect, mind you, but it has rather mild side effects. Or maybe that time on Lamictal skewed my views).

Not sure she's using "gaslight" properly here. Thoughts?

Kinda-sorta. Tumblristas like to throw that term around a lot, particularly when they're being called out or being accused of doing something bad. It's a copout, as they can just scream "wehh, i don't remember doing those things, so you must be making it up! stop gaslighting me, you dirty ableist scum" and use it as kind of a get out of jail free card.

I've finished going through her text posts for now and I'm going to start making up some posts about some of the things I've found, but I'm going to sleep first.

In the meantime, I've found a bunch of blogs, mostly from 2012. Apparently Spergtrap rarely deletes anything. I've barely glanced at most of them, so go nuts.
sassygayampora (archive)- a former main blog, when she was lying about her age
reallygaywinchester (archive)- temporarily used when her account was suspended
fictivefood (archive)- self explanatory
fuckyeahattractivemonsters (archive) - exactly what it sounds like, beware NSFW
the-eyes-of-the-collective (archive)- random spooky shit
