I don't think they realise it's not the dogs fault and that we can't reverse generations worth of selective breeding so it's a stupid thing to rage about.

You can stop breeding that specific breed, though. Pugs have massive craniofacial deformities that actually crush their brain, cause brain damage, huge respiratory deficits that are the cause of those wheezing noises they make, and cause them to have massively foreshortened lives.

We shouldn't deliberately be creating animals like this. A human bred like a pug would look like this.
