I agree with the first half of what you’ve said. It gets ridiculous seeing (some, maybe most even, but definitely not all,) zoomers acting like they were the first to do something four generations before them have been accustomed to for decades. Recently saw a probable zoomer claim there was no common use of the Internet before 2010. That the previous four generations built the the damn thing, completely escaped the poor zoomer child’s notice. In these dark and dismal zoomer times of 3-hour 'Rise and Fall' documentaries it's wonderful to see someone who still has such great command of the written word.
@Spunt I don't suppose you could publish this as a blog somewhere a bit more neutral? I'd like to send it to my normie friends because I think they'd really enjoy it but they don't understand opsec and I don't want them going on the Farms without a VPN. If it's too much hassle don't worry about it.
That’s understandable. Anonymous posting has a long & varied history, & is an overall net positive to societies. That post is great & should proudly remain here, with you safely anonymous, in all its glory. Eventually, people will not shudder to share great posts from this site as the practice of only advertising the darker content & attitudes present, fades away & more & more people will see what this forum has on offer as well. Often it’s only the darker parts of KF that are acknowledged while the beautiful gems go ignored. Your post was a truly informative & comedic summary of what’s just happened. (I’ve already shared it with a few people.) This has been the first time I’ve read about UK politics without getting bored, & understand it all the better, finally.Sorry, I wall off anything I write here from anything I write anywhere else. I don't want any accounts on any other site to be linked to my presence here. Those worlds don't mix.
The traditional coping mechanism is alcoholism. Alternatively, you may also wish to try a life of crime or getting way too invested in a football team.I've got nothing useful to add, just here to scream into the void after reading the latest Spuntpost because I'm too poor to move and have no links to other countries to take advantage of. What do people like me do? Inb4 suicide, when the going gets tough hardly anyone can actually go through with that. Got any practical advice? I feel like I've got more chance pinning my hopes on a lottery ticket than anyone in charge locally and nationally.
Most of the issues raised in the excellent post quoted seem to be domestic, which given the issues, makes sense. (And actually a lot are just rampant corruption.) Speaking of corruption, did Ukraine play any part in the electorate? Or was that related to the ill-advised conscription?Alright then everyone, what the FUCK just happened in our general election?
I assume you're repeating yourself for emphasis?Alternatively, you may also wish to try a life of crime or getting way too invested in a football team.
That's all well and good except when you live somewhere that visiting the Farms could be enough to get you a visit from the police and risk losing your job. When possible I will always espouse the virtues of the Farms and dispel misinformation about it, but I'm not willing to put people I care about at risk just to read a (very, very well written) post about the UK election.Kiwi Farms deserves recognition for every single great post written here. On this site are many great pieces written by people all over the world, & it should drive traffic & increase this sites admiration & prestige. In my view, every time a request to hide the source or research of a piece of writing as coming from Kiwi Farms, it hurts the site & helps those who lie about it.
In defence of zoomers, this is true of literally every generation. Millennials thought they knew better than their parents, gen-Xers thought they knew better than theirs; so on and so forth.Anyhow, speaking about those ridiculous rise & fall videos relates to this particular notion I’ve seen from a lot of zoomers that they know everything, when it’s far from it.
Dude I'm trying not to be a dick because you've been very nice about my posts and I genuinely appreciate that, but you do realise that's exactly what you're asking me to do, right? Except rather than just visiting the Farms, I've written on them extensively, expressed wrongthink, used no-no words, and repeatedly criticised the corruption and incompetence of the British police. And that's just in this thread. And whilst I don't believe that anything I have written breaks the law in the UK, bear in mind that in Scotland (where fortunately I do not live, and now probably can't) they introduced "hate crime" legislation that was retrospective, making previously legal statements illegal and punishable years after the fact. That will probably happen in the rest of the UK eventually. Do not underestimate the Cathedral and what they will do to eliminate dissent. That's all well and good except when you live somewhere that visiting the Farms could be enough to get you a visit from the police and risk losing your job. Completely fair, that's why I added the caveat of if it's a hassle/problem then don't worry about it. I don't want to cause trouble for you, I just know some people who would get a kick out of reading it but aren't really cut out for the Farms.Dude I'm trying not to be a dick because you've been very nice about my posts and I genuinely appreciate that, but you do realise that's exactly what you're asking me to do, right?
No worries. On reflection, it wasn't just you, I got your post mixed up with the one below and got madder at you than I should have done.Completely fair, that's why I added the caveat of if it's a hassle/problem then don't worry about it. I think I'll just continue to enjoy your posts privately, save us both any potential trouble. Maybe one day we won't live in such a draconian nightmare world that sharing an acerbic but accurate forum post carries serious risk.
Make a throwaway blog. One that's just for hosting this tourist's guide and nothing else.
Your response doesn’t really come off acerbic, more so not really relevant to any actual point I made. I’d say contrary or reactive, & wanted to say that my initial response was nothing personal. I don’t think I targeted you or made any grand sweeping statements directed at you in particular, I think you’re a good poster in general & enjoy your commentary in many threads.acerbic
I wasn't calling myself acerbic, I was referring to Spunt's dismantling of the UK political shitshow. The British Empire is now considered such a stain on British history that there have been genuine efforts to try and get Empire Biscuits renamed to something else.As a perspective from a non-Brit, when it comes to mass immigration in Britain, is there an element of wanting to make it feel like Britain is still an empire?
Nope, unless there was some hyper localised issue in specific constituencies Ukraine played no part in this UK election. The external politics as far as I could decern was Gaza/Palestine.Most of the issues raised in the excellent post quoted seem to be domestic, which given the issues, makes sense. No. There is, however, an element of white guilt related to empire from lefties that has made them pro-immigration, i.e. "We oppressed them to make the UK better so they're entitled to leech off it". That wasn't the reason mass immigration started (that was post-war labour shortages) but it is a reason sometimes cited for not dealing with it, even though it has now reached unsustainable levels. As a perspective from a non-Brit, when it comes to mass immigration in Britain, is there an element of wanting to make it feel like Britain is still an empire?
Agreed, foreign policy played a relatively minor role in this election, aside from Labour infighting over Gaza. For those that don't know (and I forgot to mention it in my big post), there were I believe three independent MPs elected on pro-Gaza tickets after Starmer threw his lot in with Israel, all of them muslims. George Galloway won a seat in a by-election on a similar ticket, but lost out to Labour in the general election. Also, Jeremy Corbyn, the Trotskyist former Labour leader who was expelled from the party for not being sufficiently anti-antisemitic* was elected as an independent MP in Islington North, the seat he previously held. That was partly a Gaza thing, but more that the local Labour voters didn't like him being expelled from the party (the reasons were pretty bullshit tbh) and some Starmerite drone being parachuted into the seat. Diane Abbott was thrown out of the party for antisemitism (she wrote a letter to a newspaper saying that black people were more oppressed historically than Jews, which was annuddah Shoah obviously) but re-admitted shortly before the election in a decision that seemed very chaotic and confused.Nope, unless there was some hyper localised issue in specific constituencies Ukraine played no part in this UK election. There is, as has been seen in the USA and Germany and perhaps other areas of the Western World, a strata of predominately white middle class people ( strong independent women with pansy assed husbands) who think that "children should be punished for the sins of the father". These are the same people that advocate for higher taxation ( but fail to register for voluntary contributions ), advocate for greener energy ( but complain about rising costs ) and advocate for greater immigration ( just not where I live).No. There is, however, an element of white guilt related to empire from lefties that has made them pro-immigration, i.e. "We oppressed them to make the UK better so they're entitled to leech off it". Thanks for the insight, both. Considering Boris seems to be almost singularly responsible for Ukraine not negotiating some sort of peace (or at least very publicly discouraging it), I guess the Tories somehow dodged one bullet. It maybe helped that I think he did all that blustering after he was out of office. I had also missed the conscription thing, and guess I was trying to connect dots not there.Agreed, foreign policy played a relatively minor role in this election, aside from Labour infighting over Gaza.
Boris advocating not for a ceasefire, and not for a Surender will be seen as the biggest mistake of this war. Thanks for the insight, both. The Gaza Problem is more interesting, and I'm glad it's been brought up. It's also a flash point for a lot of other countries' left-wingers who, for whatever reason, aligned themselves with Muslim block. It will definitely be interesting to see if this odd coalition starts to fall apart, in the UK and elsewhere.
