People tend to get more annoyed at "woke" diversity heroes when they replace well-known and liked characters. Ms. Marvel has never really been the same character for long, and they usually dump the name pretty quick (mostly because the name is kinda dumb). So there's a lot less baggage to the name than, say, Thor or Iron Man. And, at least in my opinion, the first Khan Ms. Marvel series was at least fairly good; it obviously has the baggage of her being a token character, but the concept was decent enough and Khan herself is pretty likable.
