I kind of got myself a preview into how normies will react to Kamala with her appearance in Ultimate Alliance 3. The people I played with remarked about how her powers were lame (explaining that she's a full-on shapeshifter didn't make it better) and that her costume sucked. I don't really see how they are going to make her more mainstream without a radical overhaul of the character.

All my friends on discord pretty much made fun of Kamala, calling her the "woke" reed richards, what is the point of her being there?, heck even Miles would have been a better woke choice if you dont want to put vanilla spiderman

Kamala is only the woke Reed Richards in the physical power senses, this was the woke Reed Richards https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moon_Girl_(Marvel_Comics) but without any of Reed potential, moments of being not amoral or doing anything to earn anything (She got Devil Dinosaur after her creator killed off Moon Boy and imagine a child withno morality who gets declared smartest on Earth because she solved A PUZZLE).
In fact (I don't know if any of the characters remain today) but for a while the whole list of smartest on Earth was completely reworked a few years ago with a whole bunch of female characters with terrible personalities who only got on the list because their creators had turn-on for making fake geniuses (they weren't actually smart but you were told they were actually the smartest ever)

It would be a cool bit of character development if at first they said she was stretchy, but then it's later revealed that she was a shapeshifter who didn't know how to use her powers properly. She meets a shapeshifter who helped her learn how to shapeshift afterwards, or something. But no, she's just a shapeshifter who half asses her power.

Does it ever even come up as a legit flaw anywhere? Like, anybody bitch at her for how much potential she's wasting?

I don't think anyone has even criticized her for getting one of her friends crippled. Yet another issue with Kamala and the rest of the diversity crew is they never really get called out for their shitty behavior or actions.

It always comes across as bad when the writer can't actually show that the character is smart by building them up in the story, instead they just tell the reader by having them ace a math exam and then an established big brain character shows up to praise them in the first issue. Story telling can go fuck itself, representation can't wait.

It got really obnoxious in an issue of Champions (I think) where Cho and Riri were literally talking to each other in mathematical formulas then bumping fists to remind everyone how smart they are.

Actually Ghostrider in this would be great as a central figurem Robbie loses someone in "The event" gets the spirit of vengeance as a result, goes after Banner..after hulk boss finds out it was a set up..so Ghost Rider gotta find out who he needs to Vengence on.

So it's been 2 months since the last post on this. I take it the interest in this game is dead as shit after the reveal that you are forced to play as a dumb character that no one cares about?
I mean this is gonna get worse when Disney forces you to sub to D+ because the shows on there are a part of the MCU and are apparently important for the movies, so you HAVE to watch Ms. Marvel to understand what happens in Avengers 5: So very tired. The reaction to her is a possible preview of what's to come in my humble opinion.

For what it's worth I wasn't thrilled after the first "OG Avengers" trailer because I just don't know what kind of game I was getting. I don't now that I know Kamala is in it, either. It's hard for me to build any substantial hype when I'm just taking a guess at what I can expect to actually do. Clearly it's some kind of beat 'em up, is that the entire thing? I don't know and they don't seem to be in any particular rush to tell me, so why build hype.
