Squid Game - battle Royale but adults!

jesus christ why
what the fuck does any of this have to do with being poor and in debt

"Gi-hun: Hunted by loan sharks. Unless he comes up with the money by next week they're taking his eyes and kidneys."

"Sang-Woo: Mass investment fraud. Owns millions. Unless he comes up with the money he's going to prison for life."

"Ali: Breadwinner. On the run from the law. 2 Dependants. Unless he comes up with the money he's going to prison for a long time and his family is left destitute."

"Deok-su: Owns money to the mob. Will be literally skinned alive unless he comes up with the money."

"Troon-Hon-Jak: Is really turned on by the idea of turning his penis inside out, but can't afford it."

Just finished the show

No one fucking knows, it just ends. Its clearly like half a season worth so i don't know why kikeflix even bothered to release it like this. Overall it was more of the same as last time but not as good and with a fucking troon having his cock sucked by the cast 24/7. its a shame because i actually liked the first episode and i had hopes that it would atleast be interesting. I did not know about the troon shit before hand. If you really want to watch this personally don't bother till season 3 comes out, at least then you'll get an ending

what the fuck?
this is what we waited three years for?

Well, I'm taking my time watching the series, I'm just on chapter 3.
The first two episodes were good, the bad thing is that I feel an increase in comedy as well as sometimes over-explaining things. I won't deny it, the death of the recruiter made me sad, he didn't seem like such a bad character to me.
Now the third chapter is a reference to the first chapter of the first season and adding a shitty remix of fly to the moon, it makes it worse. The participants are all unbearable, they seem like clowns and I can't take them seriously, maybe it's because of the reference to social networks and influencers.
For now the serie is tolerable.

Just finished watching Season 2. I have a few thoughts. Overall it was a good and worthwhile followup to the first season, and they managed to keep things fresh. But I have a few quibbles:
It ends on a cliffhanger. Never a big fan of that.

The final episode annoys me because the protagonists make one, but incredibly stupid, mistake: When they're rising up to kill the people running the games, they don't collect ammunition from the dead bodies of the masked men as they go. They don't sweep the bodies of the masked men they killed in the sleeping quarters and collect as many magazines as they can before heading to the control room. This is a monumentally stupid oversight. This isn't something they should have realized while they were mid-way through a firefight and started running low on ammunition.

Likewise, they also fell into an obvious trap of getting into a prolonged firefight on the stairways to begin with. The strategy of the masked men was extremely obvious: Keep the rebels suppressed until they run out of ammunition, and then swoop in and kill them when they run out. But the rebels could have used cover to evade them and follow Gi-hun and his friend in finding the control center. With even an ounce of forward thinking they wouldn't have gotten bogged down the way they did and had a much stronger chance of winning.

Now, obviously the course of the story dictates that the rebels don't succeed. But even so, there were other ways to write the final episode to reach the same conclusion (especially since 001 turned out to be a plant).

Now, addressing the troon: I obviously rolled my eyes every time he was on screen. No doubt his presence in the story was Netflix's creative involvement. But the way the character was written almost makes me suspect the writers weren't happy about including one. The character ticks almost every comedic troon stereotype: Freakishly mannish build with a deep voice, the reason they're in the games is because they want to become a Thai ladyboy, reacts in a stereotypically male way when they're angry or stressed (getting physical and aggressive instead of falling apart and sobbing), is a former special forces soldier who is proficient in guns and killing. Every aspect of the character except the fact they're a troon screams male, to the point where the contrast has to be deliberate.

There was one scene that I thought was going to go differently from how it did, and was worse because of it: The scene where the businessman who recruits people into the games is confronting homeless people in the park with either a bread roll or a lottery ticket. How I thought the scene would unfold was that he would walk away from the ones who accepted the bread roll, and give the ones who accepted the lottery ticket an invitation to the games. That would have made sense because it would have made it into a personality test, where the ones who accepted the ticket were displaying poor risk assessment and so were good cannon fodder for the games. The way the scene actually unfolded, while not nonsensical, was less interesting and impactful than that would have been.

The purple-haired fuckboy rapper was a decent minor antagonist, but I didn't find him very believable. I suspect a person like that in the real world would have shit himself the moment he realized he was actually in danger (think J-Roc from Trailer Park Boys). Having him gonk himself out on drugs during the games was a nice touch that added a bit of believability back to him though.

The character I hated the most was actually the dweeby guy. The way he betrayed that girl during the carousel game was utterly unforgiveable. And what? Because he was actually scared of the purple-haired fuckboy? Seriously?

I'm curious to see where the arc of the North Korean defector girl working as a masked man goes, since I have a feeling she'll play a key role in the final season.

Easily the one of the dumbest part of the season for me. Gi-han knows that its possible for people involved in the games to take part in said games. He knows that they will be monitoring him at all times. the previous games had a plant as number 001 which is the same number the fucking frontman picks, frontman gets himself deeply involved in the group and gi-han never questions this a single time. Prime example of a case of being forced to be retarded to make shitty writing work.

But the way the character was written almost makes me suspect the writers weren't happy about including one.
I'd agree, if the troon wasn't written to be a hero. If the old woman wasn't written to go from "eww a man in a wig wtf" to "I FUCKING LOVE TROONS THEY ARE HECKING VALID!" in the span of a single episode. If they didn't write the son character to go "you know trannies are SOOO much hotter than the women in thailand" after the troon admits he is only there to get money to get his dick flayed. Its so ridiculous that all these people are there because of huge debts and they all seem sympathetic to the guy whos only reason for being there is because he wants a stinkditch. You telling me this ex-army guy can't find work that will afford him the money for a stinkditch? i don't buy it. He doesn't have mobsters ready to oldboy his ass with a hammer if they don't pay up he just wants to satisfy a fetish.

It's funny how with a fuckhuge budget, a feministic cult in charge and an unlimited selection of effeminate Korean boys they chose to cast a 40-year-old guy as the troon and make him look like a gigahonnish man with a bobcut. Reminder that this is what trannies look like in motion without filters and angles to back them up. I hope this will make people stop repeating the myth that "Asian men pass better" now. Still not watching this wokeslop.

Tbf, considering Korea’s attitude towards Trans people, it’s actually one of the better portrayals out there, which imo deserves some recognition.

Edit: I also think that Hyun-ju volunteered to be in the game since they got scammed quite hard or ended up in a massive debt for the reassignment surgery and rehab process.

At first when they announced the new rule where the players can vote to leave at any time but keep their earnings I was intrigued as to how they'd handle justfying the players insisting to keep playing despite getting to keep the prize money anyway, and much to my dissapoitment they didn't other than making the ultra vapid statement of "ppl are greedy lolz".

The new season also has a lot of fat that could have been trimmed lots of pointless scenes that pad out the runtime to a ridiculous degree, the first voting section in particular was painfuly long for no real reason.

Highlights include literally every single single scene with the recruiter. Honestly even if the rest of the season ends up shit episode 1 is worth watching for him alone.

Turning the twist from season 1 on its head is intresting however, I can never tell how much the frontman is being genuine and how much he is acting, but his inclusion was extremely clever, at bare minimum on first watch because his intentions are always on the back of my head. I don't think the season would have been remotely as good if it wasn't for his everpresent mystery.

The over the top soundcloud rapper I thought I'd hate but he's too much fun to not like specifically because he is an over the top soundcloud rapper.

Seaon ends on a cliffhanger.

Overal I would say season 2 is not as bad as I was afraid it would be. It hits more or less the exact same beats that season 1 did, but puts an intresting enough twist on them that it feels justified. That said it IS a lot less tightly writen, the boat subplot was completely fucking pointless, everything involving the troon was dogshit and the fact that it ends on a cliffhanger more or less means that there's no point discussing this shit because its literally incomplete.

Tbf, considering Korea’s attitude towards Trans people, it’s actually one of the better portrayals out there, which imo deserves some recognition.
Its funny that the chose a 6,4 foot actor with the deepest possible voice and a jaw built like a brick shithouse, but the every character sucks his cock nonstop telling him how great he is and in the carousel game he solves 4 of the 5 games basically on his own.

Solving the Dakji by telling the other woman to flip it, finding the backwards walking trick to save time, telling the woman how to tie the top properly then threatening to beat her to death if she doesn't do the spinning top right ontop of nailing his own puzzle first try.

Meanwhile he asks EVERYONE to turn away and apparently everyone, including people who would want him to fail so they get can get the prize money just comply including the guards because?

Meanwhile, very next scene back at the barracks people are complaining that not enough people died, lol ok, maybe you shouldn't have turned then retard.

Oh and of the 30 marines in the group he's the one to show the newbies how to shoot guns because of course he needs more of the spotlight.

At least they didn't have him nail the girl's game too.

I will admit that threatening to beat the woman to death was so hillariously on the nose that it just had to be intentional.

Edit: I also think that Hyun-ju volunteered to be in the game since they got scammed quite hard or ended up in a massive debt for the reassignment surgery and rehab process.
I'm pretty sure he literally went in debt from spending too much money on flaying his cock, I watched the episode and I don't remember him mentioning scams.

The final episode annoys me because the protagonists make one, but incredibly stupid, mistake:
The one incredibly stupid mistake they made was thinking 12 assholes with 2 and a half magazine's worth of ammo each could down an entire fortress worth of soldiers.

Even if you wanted to leave the games its fucking obvious you have a greater chance of surviving if you play the game over trying to storm fort fucking knox with a couple buddies and a few peashooters.

Its a profoundly retarded plan and every single character that agreed to it is too retarded to live.

Am I supposed to feel sorry for his friend that died when their plan was the equivallent of tying a noose around their neck and taking a leap from the balcony in an attempt to dislodge the fucking chandelier?

That ending is exactly what it's like to be part of a right wing militia lol, right down to the inside man sabotaging the whole thing

Conceptually, I liked the ending. It's a neat twist to have the Seong Gi-hun use his prior knowledge to get an upper hand on the guards, I just wish we didn't have to wait a whole season to get to that point, especially when, after the first game, he doesn't really do anything for the story. I was fully expecting him to start warning people about the special game, but he didn't.

Same thing for 001. This man changed the game up and entered himself as a player just to prove a point to 456, but nothing really happens with that outside a few nods and not much else. I was expecting debates, monologues, something like that between the two, but nothing ever happens.

The b-plot with the cop also goes nowhere. Outside the first few episodes it's immediately forgotten about until the next quick scene that affirms, yes, they've still not found the fucking island.

Not to mention how the random characters are kinda forgettable if not downright cringe like with the troon's backstory him, as though him wanting to chop his dick off is somehow more sympathetic than the father joining the games to pay for his daughter's cancer treatments like come on.

Also don't really like how weirdly human the workers are. Like, they're supposed to be these anonymous, inhuman statues who know just as much of what's going on as the players do, yet we see them constantly without masks and running into other worker's cells and threatening them and shit and that's no fun.

The first season was only two episodes longer, and yet it covered far more, and was far more memorable, than 90% of this season. There's no reason for the sequel to be split apart like this, narratively speaking. I'd even go so far as to say it ruins what could have otherwise been something really special, if only Netflix wasn't extremely jewish about it. I hope season 3 is a total bomb, and they never try to do anything with the series ever again.

Doesn't that make it be exactly like Kaiji?

i can't watch it if it's going to have such blatant nonsense in it
you can't feature all these miserable people and then have some absolute retard there with delusions unironically presented as a good thing who is also somehow omnicompetent

3 years just to end season 2 with another cliffhanger and unfinished plotlines

the pink soldier chick (not going to remember bug names) just stops showing up, revealing that the fisherman who helped the cop turning out to be part of the games... this whole season felt like a build-up for another season, which I fucking hate since, again, we waited 3 years for this

the troon I didn't mind, I only thought it was funny that he kept wanting to play even after he saw that people are getting fucking killed so that he can get money to transition and then move to Thailand because lol ladyboys.

the games were honestly meh. the scene where the players were killing one another was pretty chilling, but since all bugmen look the same, it was hard to keep track if any major characters died lol

Been watching this and I've just made it to the end of the second game. I have to say though this show probably has the best representation of troonery I've ever seen in media. Condemns dozens of people to die in the games because he wants to get his dick cut off. God, at least the other players had genuine problems in their lives. Hope he acks soon
Welp I'm a retard. Turns out he does have debt. Only all of that debt is accrued by his troonery
