SsethTzeentach - Hey hey people

wow, this is sad news. Does removing himself from the internet means we aren't getting anymore of his game reviews?

Yea that makes sense, his Discord always had weirdo fags and I can imagine some of them trying to be buddy buddy with him. Also good on him for acknowledging how shit parasocial relationships are, most content creators never do and happily profit off of being an e-friend or e-daddy to retards online.

He said he'll keep posting videos, so I'm guessing at the very least he'll keep making them for a while. It sounds like he's disentangling himself from the fanbase and his internet followers, so best case is that he'll make single-player vids or do some other stuff with close friends he knows in meatspace, or worst case he has a few projects he feels obligated to finish before the internet entity known as Sseth ceases to function any further.

Hope he keeps up with the video reviews, they're always entertaining. But he's got the right idea, creepy parasocial communities online are never a good place. You can't be 'internet friends', there's never any actual relationship, or community. It's bizarre how many people now-a-days try and make it so.

Could take the RLM approach of "completely ignore your fanbase while taking their money on patreon," which is the proper course of these things.

I think a good number of us are too mired in memories of the older days of the internet, but the way that zoomers seem to use it is pretty fucked. The bulk of their social interaction seems to be through the internet at-face, and there's so many of them that engage in this parasocial, downright creepy worshipping - not just of creators like Sseth, but also of mods and various users. It can look kindof innocuous at a glance, but there's something uncomfortable about it that seems ever confirmed by the fact that something, inevitably, always goes tits-up with people whose primary socialization is online. Insulating yourself from those types is always a good bet.

Further proof discord is a breeding ground of parasocial relationships and insanity, sucks for the people who paid to gain access to it but if you paid money to get into a discord you also deserve it.
More like any social media platform. There are too many people that get too attached to a internet personality.

You can be "internet friends", but it is what it is. There is a cap on how deep you can go, there isn't a concrete tangible relationship that you can built on until you meet face to face.
If you have a healthy human interaction/relationship you will understand that difference easily. But a lot of zoomers might interact more on with internet people than irl, and that skewed their perspective on what internet friends are.

Unfortunately his style can and does draw in a more asocial obsessive-compulsive fringe. It doesn't help that Sseth's humor can be mistaken for relatable life blogs to those sorts of weirdos who would consider it relatable. Building out an internet community around a channel like Sseth's would require a lot of gate-keeping to keep out the worst trash, and it would still be trouble.

I'll echo the sentiment that para-social relationships are a disease.

I don't really know why anyone kept starting up discord servers anyway. Even back in 2017 when the trend first started to really take off anyone big would have to constantly nuke their servers because it would be full of children and pedos and skitzos trying to dox you. I remember when guys with around 500k subs would advertise their new discord server only to have to nuke it by the time most of their audience saw the video because it went to shit that fast.
And yes, we need more econtent generators to admit that we aren't friends, we haven't met in real life, and if we did we probably wouldn't like eatchother.

I don't disagree, but discord lends itself to creating a para-social relationship much more than something like twitter, it evens everyone out to just names in a chat room, which can make it seem more personal and not what it is, screaming into the void with the vain hope your favorite creator notices you.

One of the few times I heard of a game before he did a review of it. Seems interesting but I am too retarded for these type of games.
its been on gamepass for half a year now, like he said, its a small quick game.
It's about as deep as cookie clicker but less passive.
It's very much a game that you can tell cool stories about, but actually playing it is a chore. Which fits a lot of the games seeth praises.
unironically thats perfect for his format, since his videos do focus on the stories and mechanics.
Supposedly, Sseth is fucking off from his internet stuff beyond his videos. Not a terrible idea for anyone who values living breathing human beings beyond using a burner to bitch about trannies without it being linked to your real name.
i mean doctors aren't known for their freetime for a reason. at least he's doing this instead of fucking hookers raw,
Metokur took him aside and said, "Hey, this is what you gotta do..."

Sounds like maybe someone stepped over the line and tried doing something IRL.
he lives in the UK, thats all you have to know. if he was a doctor in Latin america, he's be doing these vids IRL.

from his videos thats who he's catering to, remember his early videos that included hentai.

What a champ. This is what real men do, they tell you to your face what you are: a means for him to continue making videos. You are a wallet.

I'll echo what others have said: Parasocial relationships are cancerous. Good on this man for cutting the cancer out of his life. I hope he continues to make videos that I can enjoy (from a distance).

I wonder if he'll still cap off his videos by giving a warm thanks to the many members of the Merchants Guild, generously funding and bankrolling his videos, saying that they are all truly wonderful.
It's basically the outro version of 'Hey Hey People, Sseth Here' at this point, so it'll probably stay.
I really doubt this decision will influence the videos in any major way beyond a joke or two. If anything, the quality of his content should improve now that he's officially cutting ties with the community imo.

I just checked his recent vid and he actually didn't do that outro, the first time I've noticed it. Also no Patreon credits either.
