X-Seed is in dire straights. And in true goon fashion, they're responsible for it taking so long to translate Trails in the Sky: Second Chapter because the team got collective sadbrains and made zero progress for months while still finding time to complain about how difficult it was to translate a game explicitly known for having more dialogue than most visual novels. Not only that, but they royally fucked up the editing process upon delivering the sparse updates to XSEED (again, like a true goon organization would...) and caused the majority of delays for the game's release. They then got a pity article written about them in Kotaku.
Goons were almost responsible for ruining one of the best JRPG franchises to come West in decades.

Like they're in such bad shape that they're unable to manage more than two game releases a quarter and they're a publisher.
We're supposedly getting a physical edition of Trails in the Sky Trilogy soon*. But there's no solid info outside of before they released the PS4 remaster of memories of Celceta that they said they were going to do more physical editions of their back catalog.
But they can't even clear their warehouses of all the stupid shit they published in the past. They still can't get rid of all the unsold special editions of Fate Extella and it's sequel. Their whole Limited Run games deal still has those copies up with the only new offering being Senran Kagura Reflections.
Any of their elaborate boxed editions they cut major corners on as well. The glue they used to hold the CE Boxes together is prone to melting and then re-solidifying, and in the process it loses it's adhesive properties. So you can order a new game and big cardboard box will fall apart as soon as you open the clear wrapping.
So in the end despite Nisa having some missteps with Ys8 out of the gate, they're actually handling everything better than X-Seed did.

A translator isn't the be all end all, they tend to have an editor or a editorial team who will give a final say on the work. On a team, Members are aware of what information in the translated segments should come across to the players or how the language in question works because they themselves speak it.

It's already on it's last legs. They're only putting out two games in a quarter.Pretty sure Xseed will die without Tom.
They're going to throw a fit when they read the ys9 english translation(or either of the Azure/Blue translations) and demand that NISA gets canceled.View attachment 1440063
They held out pretty long against the hoard. Resetera celebrated when NIS got CS3.
