Been fucking around with Midjourney again. Watching the new Starfield trailer made me wonder about applying NASApunk stuff to MJ Niji prompts. The results were much better than I expected. The newer MJ models generate much more accurate firearms than before, too. They're not just collections of parts jutting out at odd angles. They have recognizable components.

Mostly, speed of image generation and the maximum batch size/image resolution you can create without running out of VRAM and making the entire process grind to a halt.

I can really only speak from my own experiences (using a 1080), but with 8 GB of VRAM on automatic1111 UI with CodeFormers you're pretty much limited to a maximum image size of roughly 1080p (1920x1080). It may be (and probably is) possible to render images at a slightly higher resolution, but that's the size I've tested and found will work using any model 100% of the time. So, with 12 GB instead you'll be able to create larger images and batches. How large? No idea. I only create high resolutions images one at a time and never run a batch of small images larger than 4.

As for speed of the two cards, check the chart here. The 3070 gets about a third speed increase over the 3060.

So there's no real reason to get a 3060 over a 3070. The 3070 is faster in image generation anyway, and the extra VRAM seems weird since I was able to do a Hires Fix image on my 1060 6GB, even if it took like 15 minutes, and going straight to generating a 1920x1080 image is nonsensical given how SD models are trained on 512x512 and 768x768 datasets and those are the resolutions you should stick to. As long as I improve performance in my games and I go from seconds per iteration to iterations per second I'm happy, and the 3070 seems a bit more futureproof.

Same with upscaled old video, it looks like a drawing because the AI is literally drawing new shit that isnt there because its going 4k on a poorly encoded 240p video

That's going to be due to training data resolution, right? We're talking 512 input, mostly 512 output and if everyone is like me (idk, maybe they are) they're just upscaling 512 outputs when they need stuff bigger.

Yeah, that's going to happen when models are typically trained at a lower resolution. There are some LoRAs out there that can give a few of those details, and adding tokens like skin imperfections can help guide the model to be even more lifelike.

I used DALLE2 for the first time in about 6 months and the quality is so bad. Artefacts all over the place, I remember being so impressed when I first used it. Just shows how quickly we’ve progressed.

I've found that the Bing image creator is overly cautious on what prompts it will allow. Prompts that really shouldn't create anything against its rules are still censored for some reason, so I don't usually use it. Those results are nice though.

But please don't make me tap the sign.
