I was quite literally just about to make a post regarding this announcement, but you beat me to it. The past year has been quite turbulent for Civitai, mostly because of the payment processor shenanigans, so I don't see this ending well for them. There's a chance that this decision just might kill the site for good, since they have been in a slow decline and most of the generations to my knowledge are still NSFW related. I wonder if any competitors, like TensorArt for example, will rise to fill in the void.

Take a look at the newest images bit at the top of the homepage. I would say that just like the wider internet 90% of it is porn. If you're talking nsfw then it's even higher considering they class like bikini stuff as nsfw. I'm not sure exactly how it'll go, I can say with certainty that it will decimate the userbase but it might help them financially. Nsfw content is still allowed, you just have to pay for it, all that this will have done is cut out the number of people making nsfw content and not paying. It'll reduce the total load without reducing the income by any massive amount. I just don't understand how this helps. Is the issue not that banks hate the nsfw generation side of things? How is forcing everyone who wants to create something nsfw to interact with the payment processors going to help? I thought the go to would be do what pixai did. 'yes we have banned all porn look none show up in the searches and you cant find any nsfw image on the site at all' when the banks are looking but then have a little switch in the account settings that lets you generate that stuff and all of the nsfw loras are simply hidden from search instead of removed from the site. 'payment processors hate porn that's why from today on to generate porn you must go through a payment processor'??????

I at least appreciate their honest response to the question "so wait are you fucking us over specifically" and the answer is yes, sorry, but we have to or we cease to exist instead of the usual corporate bullshit about how it's for the best interests of everyone (when it never is).

they're probably just trying to scam a little more money out of gooners before they ban porn on the site outright which is clearly inevitable. I legitimately don't see how Civitai survives this going forward, they're essentially a porn site that's about to ban porn. lol

It's not even gooners. It's not porn, it's anything nsfw. The site just ate days worth of buzz just because my favourite character isn't in a full nun's habit. Even completely sfw shit is eating buzz and even if you know there's no way it made something actually nsfw it still fucking eats the buzz lol fuck off.

They've already wiped all the real people LoRA's before I bothered to look for anything funny and the only thing I managed to yoink is a Flux LoRA for Jensen Huang. Everything else? Gone, no backups.

Oh yeah, this decision will definitely decimate the userbase as you said. However, it won't really affect people who do local generations. The best case scenario is that a lot of users who generated content which Civitai classifies as NSFW basically for free by expending blue Buzz will just stop posting, freeing up system resources and bandwidth for other tasks. I guess some bean counter somewhere must have thought that this decrease in non-paying user participation is offset by lowered upkeep costs, so pretty much just as you said in your post. It's a shitty situation overall with no good solutions, especially when combined with the payment processor stuff.

I've had a hunch since the payment processor troubles began that this is how things will eventually turn out for Civitai. The final nail in the coffin, so to speak.

All that Civarchive managed to save is the metadata, but pretty much all models are gone, unless someone had them backed up and reuploaded them.

It's not just that it's stricter, it's that it's arbitrary. I can have two images, nearly identical to each other, both of which contain the subject fully clothed, with nothing sexual at all. One might be PG-13, the other rated X, while just looking at it I think they should both be fully SFW, and I have no idea how their system is making that determination.

I think that's a hold over from when models of real people were allowed on the website. They were extra sensitive because they didn't want to get buttfucked by having thousands of ai photos of emma watson in her underwear on the site.

Yea I've got posts that should just be pg, maybe r13 at most rated anywhere from pg to xxx. Normally it doesn't matter but now that random fucking seemingly rng shit is the difference between it completely eating your buzz and not whereas before it was just who could see it if you published it. Like I am getting things that not only are completely sfw but I cannot even imagine how they are anything other than pg being blocked.

They have an option to submit your blocked images for review, so I decided to test it out. While there's still a few that are blocked, it allowed a surprising amount of skin through on some of those images, so I don't know if the generator did just create porn despite using a SFW prompt (though admittedly one that I intentionally put close to the line to to test what it would permit), or if it's just as arbitrary about what it lets through as the first time round. It's time consuming and obnoxious though, it took around 18 hours for my request to be processed. For the images that were let through on review, most of them are now rated PG-13, but one is rated R.

Because the banks would totally be fine with this. The banks are known for being tolerant and understanding and willing to move and change. They forced you to ban porn but they decided to go back on that after two days. You know, like banks do.

I use Waifu2X, which is a freemium upscaling program that runs locally and is highly configurable. It's always worked well for me when upscaling images, and I've never needed any of the paywalled features, but I've never used it for videos before.

I grabbed a random video from the videos thread for a test, and upscaled it on medium and high quality presets, to 2x resolution, with no frame interpolation. The starting video is 31s long, 550x720, 846KB. The upscales are 1100x1440. The medium quality video took 50s to convert and is 3.6MB. The high quality video is 4.4MB and took 25m 45s to convert, and my fans were super loud the whole time. I can't upload either of them because they're MKVs, which aren't supported on KF, and the option to change the output format is a premium setting. Here they are on catbox instead: medium, high.

What are your specs tho?
