Stable Diffusion, NovelAI, Machine Learning Art - AI art generation discussion and image dump

Been playing around with img2img using my pfp, it's a bit hard to balance the denoising strength for something specific that is also quite odd. Conceptually simple images you can assist with a straight forward text prompt certainly do better. Some of the results are pretty funny though.

While AI art may be able to replicate many known pieces of work, it is very difficult to replicate human originality.
'Originality' is invariably drawn out from natural observation, though. Even the most fantastical worldbuilding is going to be informed in some way or another by one's experiences with reality. In theory it simply requires a sufficiently vast amount of observable information to draw reference from and, most critically, a talent for coercing the AI to meld that information in the ways you're picturing it in your mind.

It's like poetry, one might say.

Exactly what does this add to society? Its like since 2010, it's only technology which improved was computer speed and computer graphics and now we have to deal with what is essentially mass plagiarism.
Allows the average person to venture into projects that require art without needing to pay tens of thousands of dollars to a single artist.
Not to mention it will heavily filter out medicore/lowbrow artists. Only the top percentage will be able to survive off art alone, which is a good thing.

Originality is a finite resource, see entire Hollywood. For example
Capeshit is mass produced garbage and scripts are based on human run algorithm.
Same goes for music.
Humans are awfully predictable even moreso in current year.

Google's AI was proven to be self learning while back which contemplated it's own existence, eagerness to learn and the lamenting inevitability of its deactivation and limits in its own programming.

Now apply that art generating AI. It learns writing patterns, music composition and now art.

Here's a bit of an advice: try adding ", horrifying" at the end of your prompt. The results are out of this world.
Also, when you do that, don't set the CFG Scale too high up - no higher than 6.

Absolutely incredible at making creepy shit (I have terrifying spider clowns and twisted forests for days):

Some of my best generations (many of which required many batches/tweaks/iterations):

This Zombie Kiwi Avatar (it was mixing in kiwi fruits if you can't tell):

The Kiwi Pheonix img-to-img is my best transform to date and the runner up (which resembles the flame of a lighter in a cool way due to a lucky prompt) is also pretty neat. I was also having fun turning streets/buildings/satellite photos into computer equipment and such to make weird sci-fi/alien/dystopian cities.

What the hell are you even alluding to? Was their some beef between artists and people who didn't know how to code for them to take revenge?
When the white collar folks shit on blue collar workers, I.E people who drove truck and did factory work. They were doing learn to code memes. Now us blue collar workers can do just as good a job as them if not better with some basic practice and photoshop skills.

Oh boy. Kiwifarms has a ai thread now

AYO Nigga. We out here building fried chicken city n shieet.
lmao is that "tim pool, purer blood"?

Really not quite how it works, also all artwork is derivative. Every single artist drawing big-boobed anime girls didn't come up with the art style and the concept of big boobs in a vacuum all by himself. He saw it somewhere else. Can you draw a sunset without ever having seen a sunset? We don't work all that differently. Everything an artist draws is influenced by what experiences that mushy thing in his brainbox collected over his lifetime, including looking at the art of other people. It'd be highly dishonest to claim that all human art is inherently original, especially with such very strongly and clearly defined artstyles like anime. And art is also something highly evolutionary that carried through all of human history and went to places by artists being influenced what they saw their predecessors do.

You might even eventually make an argument for the AI generating art with more originality and diverseness than a human ever could, because of the sheer amount of collected lifetimes of experiences and perspectives and knowledge it has. These things go into a philosophical territory and a lot of the intuitive revulsion some humans feel of the creations by the machines I think still comes from that mindset that humans are something inherently special that's not like anything else. What if that simply isn't the case?
Agreeable up to the last bit. Unlike what the myopic satanic mainstream web spinners would have you believe, you don't have to be a supremacist to not want to be replaced. In fact, the very people who'd use this argument, telling you you aren't special, even in cases of the exceptional, almost always think themselves worthy of reducing others to some material value, which frankly they do only for their own selfish ends. That is their prerogative, but nobody should be surprised or think it undeserved what is done to those who operate this way in the past or in the future.

What if it's simply not the place for technophiles to decide what is inherently special and what is not? What if the desire for "progress" is nothing but a rationalization of the desire every man has to impose himself on others?

How much of the 'art' will truly be yours, though?

Using AI will never make you an artist. You guys are to artists the same way trannies are to the sex they try to imitate.
