Aside from the very obvious ones like Andy Dick, Hannah Gadsby, Adam Conover, Carlos Mencia, Joe Rogan, Amy Schumer, Janeane Garofalo, Tig Notaro, etc.?

Dane Cook is a borderline example of a lolcow, though he thankfully faded from relevance and even at his worst, he was simply a lolcalf who lucked out by being at the exact right place and the exact right time in the pop culture. The guy was still an unfunny joke thief but that's mild compared to today's comedians.

At one point, he was like the worst thing ever in comedy alongside Mencia and he's still an unfunny hack even in retrospect but guys like Gadsby and Conover have proven to be a lot worse.

I think part of what helped Dane Cook was that he was just smart enough to know when his fifteen minutes of fame were completely over and he quietly fucked off after his romcoms flopped.

I always thought Dane Cook was just an unfunny joke thief who tried way too hard to appeal to the 2007 "lol random" style of humor but he lucked out since he was at the right place and the right time for that sort of act, but I legit had no idea the guy was also a groomer.

I say late because the overwhelming response of "Holy fuck this is terrible, the jokes are so bad, her delivery is infuriating, is it legal to euthanize her?" caused her to delete her internet presence which, in all reality, makes her not a lolcow since she had that much good sense.
But a performance this awful deserves an honorable mention.

On top of that, the comedians that 'make it' within that context are self-policing - actively attacking comedians they deem 'problematic'.

So instead, comedians with the 'right jokes' and the 'right identity' get pushed forward - when they haven't really put in any time getting good - and suddenly they're on the BBC playing whatever retarded panel show it is these days.

Stand-up in the UK is effectively dead at this point. Not that it was ever that great to begin with, though.

I actually had no idea it was such an extreme monopoly, beyond what I wrote above.

Was British stand-up comedy ever actually good, though? It was inarguably shit from the 50s till the 70s, then in the 80s you get joyless angry cunts like Ben Elton or Alexi Sayle. Were they even telling jokes, or thinly-veiled political rants?

You've maybe got one or two decent standups from the 90s - thinking mainly Billy Connolly, or Reeves & Mortimer (though I'm not even sure you can call them stand-ups).

I don't even buy that Britain had funny TV shows, other than Monty Python possibly. There was a brief little blip between the late 90s and early 00s where suddenly you had some stuff like Father Ted, Spaced, The League of Gentleman, The Office... and then it just died again.

Seems like all the UK makes are those shitty game-shows - apparently made by and starring the cast-list of those companies you posted.

I thought Bernand Manning and Roy Chubby Brown were quite funny. I have a soft spot for Lee Evans since mousehunt and the fifth element were two of my favourite films growing up. Not really a sperg, more into physical comedy and pulling funny voices and faces.
