Stand-up Comedian Lolcows

What ruined comedy is this obsession with "punching up" instead of "punching down." One of my favorite bits ever and one that made him super famous was Eddie Murphy's bit about a fag on top of a car making a siren noise. Sure, homos were "marginalized" in the 80s but it made everyone laugh and that's all that matters.
that's funny you said that because my favorite bit of all time is when eddie murphy is doing the Mr. T getting fucked in the ass

I would like to add that Carlin talked a lot about this and how he only punches up at evil whites and rich people. Carlin was unironically like a Redditor before Reddit.

Some of his shit was Reddit tier but some of it was just straight up doom pilled. I think he was just one of these classical liberals who actually did deal with religious conservatives trying to censor him. That's the major difference between liberals back them and these fedora tipping faggots nowadays.

Carlin is overrated in my opinion; he's one of those comedians you grow out of and stop liking after your edgy atheist years. I'd also include comedians like Doug Stanhope in this category; a good comedian can make you laugh regardless of politics

Agreed to both points. I was a huge Carlin fan when I was like 13. I still think some of his stuff was good and he definitely opened the door for other comics. He also always defended free speech.

When I was like 13 to about 16 years old, I thought guys like Carlin were the peak of comedy; now I don't find them funny. I will say his rant on climate change aged well, but aside from that, he does not hold up. If he had not died, he would be an insufferable woke comedian or another Bill Maher.

I'm not so sure about that. The stuff he did at the end of his life was really dark and was less political and more just "everyone is a fucking moron, even my own audience." I mean he was 71 when he died so if he didn't have cancer he would have died by now anyway probably. Maybe it's just wishful thinking but I don't know if he would be as insufferable as the likes of Bill Maher. I really hate these super liberal comedians who still act like it's 1975 and conservatives are oppressing them. In my life I've never seen even close to the same amount of censorship from the right as I've seen from the left and anyone who says otherwise about the last 20 years or however long is just lying. One thing I truly hate about Bill Maher is that he acted like it was edgy to go after Muslims in his shitty Religulous movie, yet he never went after a certain tiny hatted religious group....I wonder why? 🤔🤔🤔🤔

I've found Tom Myers a lot more fascinating after I saw he's part of a whole scene or tier of stand-up where it's all of these below Z-list "professional" stand-ups and perpetual open-micers who are constantly laughing at each other's lame jokes and shilling and logrolling each other's comedy and club appearances and Zoom comedy shows, advertised usually via "posters" so badly designed you'd think they were made so on purpose. Featuring such obvious Murder's Rows of talent like :sees "Lyz Tori" and shouts WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT:

From my bit of research, Dat Phan here is a king among this level of stand-up, and he still trades in on having "won" the first season of a long-cancelled reality show that really didn't do his career any wonders. He holds “comedy” classes and gets paid by bored women and then puts them on these Zoom comedy shows so they feel like legit comics. His Instagram is or at least was, when I last checked it out a while ago, a conveyer belt of cringe.

Imagine still doing Zoom comedy. I get why comedians tried to do it during the apex of the COVID bullshit but why would you do it anymore? Dat Phan's entire act revolves around his mom's accent. I'm convinced he only won Last Comic Standing for diversity reasons. This clip from Tough Crowd is amazing. I wish he took the beating and learned from it. Dat Phan getting roasted by real comedians

if it hasn't been said already, Bert Kreischer is one of the worst "comedians" I've ever seen
Kreischer is a faggot. Taking off your shirt, getting drunk, and telling lies about your life makes you the most disliked person at any party but apparently is a recipe for success in hollywood. Comedy AIDS.

He's famous in this current climate because he doesn't say anything. If you have no real opinions or takes then you can't be offensive or woke. So you have retards from all sides who think he's funny for some reason that I can't figure out.

the whole Rogan inner circle sucks donkey dicks: Kreischer, Diaz, D'elia, all of them. They're all stupid fucks who drunk people laugh at for inexplicable reasons.

And don't get me started on Brendan Schaub.

Joe Rogan is about as funny as a punch in the nuts.

Yeah I’ve seen posts here on KF that assert that if he were still alive today, he’d be a Trump fan. It’s like, nigga, this faggot was hoping whites would get their comeuppance in his specials in the 90s. He wouldn’t associate with the likes of Adam Conover and Ali Wong but guaranteed he’d be down with identity politics. In his appearance with Opie and Anthony in 2008, he seemed pleased that Muslims were going to make quick work of the whites.

I think it makes total sense to have a Carlin phase as people are exploring what’s out there but anyone who doesn’t move on from him is a fag.

An era of comedy that will never happen again.

I’ve talked a lot about Kreischer but Diaz is the beaner version of Kreischer: thinks loud is funny, makes up a bunch of stories, painfully unfunny, etc. I don’t know if they still call themselves the death squad but they are all cringy faggots.

I'm gonna die on the hill that Carlin was good. He's still good imo, even if his last two stand ups were kinda shit.

I hate his autistic followers who quote him like he's Christ though.
Redditors can definitely find a lot of Carlin quotes to support their beliefs, but he also has a shit load of anti-PC, politically incorrect comedy that would distress the fuck out of the modern redditor. Also his apolitical comedy is even better than his political work IMO. He would pivot from a joke about religion or whatever to one about "pussy farts" without missing a beat. He was a great physical comic too. I think Carlin was great.

Bill Hicks is who we should all agree was the proto-redditor.

Personally I thought Carlin's best work involved wordplay and the oxymornic nature of certain words meant.

If Carlin was still alive, He would just keep asking who the fuck these retards are and say he was just some random old white guy bitching and moaning on stage, so they need to fuck off already.

His act about the deliberate drastic change of day to day language over the last century to present was very educational and hilarious.
The bit about SHELLSHOCK being whittled down to PTSD was the best part.
