How many rail shooters are out there right now? I don't think it's that many, but then, I buy maybe one new video game a year.
Unit Down Charge
Wild Blue Skies (Upcoming)
Fur Squadron Phoenix
Ex-Zodiac (Early access development hell. One of the first "big" Godot games. I vaguely remember the characters originally being anime girls instead of animals but I may be mistaken.)
Whisker Squadron: Survivor (Made by the guy who made "Race the Sun" (Now trooned out))
Sin and Punishment 2 for the Wii. In many ways it's better than Star Fox 64, and aiming with the Wii remote is more precise than an analog stick or gyro aim could ever be.

Why do people feel the need to make cartoon characters realistic? It comes off creepy as all hell.
The original design was fine, the new "realistic" version of Fox McCloud has the neck of a fat boomer who gets into his his Polaris Slingshot to drive four blocks to go to lunch at a local Chili's. The "graphic more realistic mean they more better! Me am smart!" idea is stupid, it usually results in character and gear and vehicle, etc. designs that are as charm-free and dull as possible, but you can make out individual hairs!!! and there's realistic ripples in nearby bodies of water and you can make out details on individual leaves of flora!!!! which is supposedly the true marker of a game's quality.

The people yearn to play Star Fox for the fiftieth time, it seems.
Well I mean, it's not really surprising given the competition that list. Another Yoshi game for babies; kind of surprising it's even at #2. Splatoon spin-off that I don't think has been advertised that heavily. And then a bunch of stuff from the past couple years that are mostly past their biggest sales peaks. Guess nothing else of note is really coming out soon except some mildly exciting Nintendo games?

So I've been going over the footage ofg the game so far and the dialogue, at least in the english version has the grimy current year eternal all over it. All banter seems to have been removed or toned down into word salad supportiveness stuff. Saw a thing showing the Katt appearance side by side and one was very clearly a character while other was "ugly girlboss furry OC #9129429 Falco and slippy being severely toned down is the worst still IMO. "try to keep up" replaced with "I'll take the lead. look out the enemy's ahead" or whatever the fuck it was in that first level side by side I'm too lazy to check again right now is just something that makes me kinda retch.

James mcloud's ""death"" scene shown off in the direct is really bad too. He doesn't even crash or burn or anything he just goes "i'm losing altitude!" and fucks off like he's normally piloting the ship with no signs of losing altitude or control of his ship. The explosion that hits him doesn't even seem to do visible damage despite all the HD models. They're clearly retconning him being fucking sploded and sent down in a firey crash. 100% no "DADDY SCREAMED REEEEEEL GOOD WHEN HE DIED LMAO" line will be uttered, nor will the original line fromt he JP version about fox's dad burning in hell or whatever.

What else is there to play on Switch 2?

Fair points. Nintendo's been fairly consistent with releases over the past few months, but there's nothing akin to Mario Kart World or Donkey Kong Bananza.

You know, the big franchises.

Sin and Punishment 2 is really good, but the final boss was kinda annoying for no reason.
Considering how good the rest of the game is I have no idea why they suddenly decided to drop the ball there.

Another 2D Metroid on the same level of Dread would be fantastic.
If goytendo wasn't retardedly greedy and IP whorish - they'd do what Sega did with Sonic and hire the people who made a better game then they did instead of trying to kill their passion project. They could have compromised and released AM2R officially and it would have been a hit. Then the creators, with proper funding, could have been put on sequels, or perhaps updating more old Metroid games with superior remakes. Ahh what could have been.

Slippy eventually became endearing over the years, but it's hard to understate just how annoying people found him around the time. It made the Navi complaints look reasonable. I don't really blame Nintendo for making him the eager beaver of the group instead of the young screw-up.

No pun intended.
