As fun as it would be to see Dukat get a curtain call, I wasn't really expecting it. Marc Alaimo seemed kinda feeble in that 2019 DS9 doc...

On top of that, he apparently has some kind of weird reputation among Trek-affiliated people. Connor Trinneer and Dominic Keating mentioned him a few times on their podcast and referred to him as "an interesting character" in a sort of suggestive way. Not sure if they ever worked together professionally or just had some contact at conventions, but I'd be interested to know what they meant by that.
I think they refer to some comments Nana Visitor made: she always loved Marc and truly despised Gul Dukat as a character, and during the What We Left Behind she confuses the character and the actor while saying that she would have loved for Kira to have a relationship with a Cardassian, if the one with Odo didn't work out.

This reddit post explains the sequence of events in a little more detail, where she does feel sad for Marc and that she said those things by accident. Leave it to people to blow things out of proportions I guess.

I was expecting Pah'wraiths behind that red door, Gul Dukat strolling through like a chad, but they never had anything do with Jean-Luc Picard. The Borg have been used in the previous two seasons, atleast hopefully they won't bring back that Jurati Borg Queen CGI abomination this time around.

What I really did like was the Changeling infecting every single Starfleet member with the Borg DNA, kinda how Section 31 infected the Great Link through Odo in DS9.
After seeing xx-many episodes, I feel like the Mattalas guy is just a "canon whore" who crammed a bunch of shit in because he's a fanboy. A red door is suggestive and unknown, but a green door would be obviously Borg. (Plus 'Behind the Green Door' is a legendary 70s porno.) There are way too many logical problems with this season, even divorced from all other nu-trek.

So far the story's been C- and drawn out… the idea that some sad Pooner Changeling had an alliance with Borg is completely illogical, especially with the sliced hand thing as a biological link. (Strangely they used some random anime guy as the voice actor instead of the Borg Queen like we heard this week. Not only a choice to avoid spoilers, but obviously because the budget is low. Allegedly we'll only hear her voice for the same reason, i.e. they couldn't afford to get Alice Krige on set.) Then you get the whole transporter-defiles-dna thing that is supposedly the main plot which is even more dumb. A shame because the actual character moments are good.

I just groaned 'Borg AGAIN!?' They could have went in a more interdasting direction than borg borg borg borg borg. If the autistic borg from last season comes to save the day in the final episode, I swear to god I will hunt down the writers.

Not actually watching this show, don't know what's going on ... but wouldn't a routine physical turn up the fact that someone's DNA had changed and they were part of the Telassimilation Borg Youth Corps? I think, for people who travel in space (radiation) and visit strange planets (endogenous viruses) and routinely metamorphose into monsters (various), they would keep an eye on everyone's DNA.

Considering that Beverly said:"We haven't had contact with the Borg in over 10 years" and they apparently ignored the Jurati Borg Queen plot line from end of season 2, so there's hoping.

Given how Kurtzman unofficially blacklisted Shatner, I wouldn't be surprised if Marc Alaimo got the same treatment.

>Geordi, through sheer mechanical autism, completely restores the Enterprise-D to her heyday in his space garage.

I'll allow it. Hell, this is reaching levels of based that should not be possible.
And he is one hell of a guy.

I had the same reaction. They've gone to the Borg well too many times.

Oh well. This season up to this point has still been the best thing they released since Beyond, easily. Not great, but enjoyable.

Went out for some drinks with colleagues after work, came home fairly hammered and watched episode 9.

I've hated every bit of Star Trek ever since JJ Abrhams took over the movies. I couldn't get past season 1 of either Discovery or Picard.

In my inebriated state, regardless of cheesey or nostalgia-bait it was, that ending was the closest I've come to feeling an actual emotion in years.

They are in a pretty big pickle right now. I imagine they'll have jack break control and shut down the network or something, but i wonder what the long term ramifications are. Would this mean that anyone in Starfleet over 25 would have been killed, unless they had been retired or sick or otherwise not celebrating Frontier Day in the fleet?

They made a huge mistake in saying that the entire fleet was there assembled at earth. They should have said some random percentage over 50% or something that way the stakes would have been high yet not complete overkill.

They were fucking retards who literally let Jack leave and go see Mrs. Queen

Matalas confirmed on Twitter that Jurati won't appear in the finale. To be taken with a grain of salt, but as Jean-Luc did not correct Beverly when she said:"The Borg have been out of sight for 10 years." it's pretty clear Terry dropped that whole "new Borg in the Federation" storyline from season 2 pretty easily.

Thank fuck.

Which is kinda disappointing, as the Jurati Borg could've been an interesting concept to delve into. it could've been an asynchronous hivemind, with members having some individuality - and even ability to leave and rejoin as they wish. They could've been scientists pursuing their passions while having access to advanced tech and processing abilities. They could be working in conjunction with AI's like alt-Earth Jurati's holographic pet.

There is still one main"TNG cast member that is alive, currently on Earth, and fits the job description that the Changeling-Borg used for their schemes.

People are speculating that the scene from Lower Decks season 1 where they call him "Earth's greatest hero" will be because of next week's episode.
If you mean Crusher I'm going to go back in time and take back what I said about the autistic borg queen

Thanks for this post. I never knew of Alaimo having a reputation at all until some friends of ours who had seen the documentary took away from it the fact he's a pervert harasser. I'm disappointed that his reputation is probably trashed thanks to this when it sounds like for all intents and purposes he's a class act both on screen and off.
