Lots of things could have happened if ENT had continued.Nothing ever happened between 2161-2245 and 2293-2364. Literally nothing.

iirc that sorta was the point, was that Ent was going to show Sam inventing how to Starfleet Captain over the seven seasons, so he comes off hyperdoof the first year because it was going to be character developmentBecause I guess Archer was the only notable Captain before the 23rd Century.
I feel like at least one of the crewmembers can be funny (think Bashir or Paris), but a lot of the newest shows are trying to be like the Guardians of the Galaxy by focusing on the whole "ragtag team of misfits" instead of Starfleet's best and brightest. One of the things I dislike most about NuTrek is how unprofessional the bridge crew seems relative to their depictions in series like TNG. Too much of an office sitcom sensibility sometimes, like they're working a floating skyscraper and aren't starship officers. Enterprise still does a good job of selling that these people are trained, professional, quasi-naval officers, whatever their personal quirks.
And Paramount was like, "Best I can do is a Section 31 movie."This was always an era I wanted to see more of. It's the era where the Excelsior and eventually the Ambassador were the Ships of the Line while the Constellation and Oberths were doing all the dirty work. And despite it being an era of relative peace, it's also the era where the Federation fought the Tzenkethi, the Cardassians, the Shelliak Corporate, and the Talarians (they mourn with autistic screeching).
One of my favorite episodes of Enterprise is "Dead Stop" for this exact reason. Seeing the crew interact with technology that we know would become the norm in the future like AI and replicators was really interesting to see. I especially liked how T'Pol mentioned seeing something like a replicator on another vessel she served aboard. Then you have tech developments, like the slow introduction of replicators or the holodeck.
I'm pretty sure Starfleet Command made damn sure Sulu was nowhere near any youngsters.Would have been cool if they did a series with Sulu or Chekov serving as instructors at the Academy and show the youngsters how things are done.
Ensign Christian Bale had the key to the Captain's Quarters. Why does he have the key to the Captain's Quarters?I'm pretty sure Starfleet Command made damn sure Sulu was nowhere near any youngsters.
Bad news. About 5 minutes in...I'm pretty sure Starfleet Command made damn sure Sulu was nowhere near any youngsters.
iirc back in the day in Vegas you could get a Starfleet Academy diploma signed by Principal Hikaru Sulu and Dean Of Students George TakeiI'm pretty sure Starfleet Command made damn sure Sulu was nowhere near any youngsters.
Reminds me of the old joke.I still have hopes that by 2286 niggers and jeets have been redeemed.
Say what you will about George Takei,* he repeatedly pointed out Star Trek Hikaru Sulu is a completely different heterosexual person than him. Which ST: Beyond had agro TF out of Takei, as they fagged up Sulu in that movie. When in Prime Timeline, Sulu was confirmed to be a biological father in ST:VI.I'm pretty sure Starfleet Command made damn sure Sulu was nowhere near any youngsters.
yeah Takei is usually in a state of big mad about one thing or another, but that really pissed him off because he always portrayed Sulu as a total (and successful) poon hound and very intentionally not gaySay what you will about George Takei,* he repeatedly pointed out Star Trek Hikaru Sulu is a completely different heterosexual person than him. *Go to town on his ass as he deserves it.
Not just a poon hound but one who had decided to place caring for his family ahead of his service. Ultimately ending up on screen scoring the win over Kirk in the one thing that really mattered, being a (successful) father.yeah Takei is usually in a state of big mad about one thing or another, but that really pissed him off because he always portrayed Sulu as a total (and successful) poon hound and very intentionally not gay
yeah whether it's good or says something about how little else he had going on, he gave a LOT of fucks about Sulu compared to most Trek cast and their characters, like he was always pushing for Sulu to get promotions between appearances and other shit iircNot just a poon hound but one who had decided to place caring for his family ahead of his service. I'm aware that Tom is written as the flyboy romantic, but he is halfway to porking a starship.Does Tom Paris and the Delta Flyer count?
Battlestar Galactica hit right when a lot of writers openly wished they were working on mystery-box shows. If Lost wasn’t your thing, BSG might not be eitherIt's on a streamer I have, so maybe I'll check it out. I've at least added it to my list. the 2000s Battlestar Galactica is my current next sci-fi watch. I disliked the ending and so have always held off a rewatch, but I feel like the time is now right. Just need to find the time to start watching.
Trek has turned into Doctor Who. Lots of timey-wimey bullshit, theater kid exuberance, winks at the cheap sets from the old days.Didn't even take a day after typing this for me to feel vindicated. What the fuck was that?
it's also the era where the Federation fought the Tzenkethi, the Cardassians
BSG is great until it isn’t. For those who have watched it I bet you know exactly which scene I am talking about. Still worth a watch though, the positives outweigh the negatives in my opinion and some of the characters really are great. The only person that has suffered more that O’Brian is Gaeta.Battlestar Galactica hit right when a lot of writers openly wished they were working on mystery-box shows. Young Picard getting suckered punched by the Cardassians too.If they are set on make more ST movies and want to keep up the gritty and dark vibes they are pushing for, why not make a film about the Setlik III, have a young O’Brian fighting off those Cardy bastards and showing the horrors of war.

Such a movie could and should be about this dude:If they are set on making more ST movies and want to keep up the gritty and dark vibes they are pushing for, why not make a film about the Setlik III, have a young O’Brian fighting off those Cardy bastards and showing the horrors of war.
I wished they'd go in the other direction - more Star Trek The Motion Picture vibes and the TNG season 1&2 feeling of actually being on an unknown frontier in space. If they are set on making more ST movies and want to keep up the gritty and dark vibes they are pushing for, why not make a film about the Setlik III, have a young O’Brian fighting off those Cardy bastards and showing the horrors of war.
Oh yeah, the "Christine in space" episode. I forgot that one.I'm aware that Tom is written as the flyboy romantic, but he is halfway to porking a starship.

You could also have some set during the Dominion War. Maybe a cast like the guys at AR-558.If they are set on making more ST movies and want to keep up the gritty and dark vibes they are pushing for, why not make a film about the Setlik III, have a young O’Brian fighting off those Cardy bastards and showing the horrors of war
Alternatively, they could show him taking command of the Stargazer and inventing the Picard Manuver.Young Picard getting suckered punched by the Cardassians too.
Fully agreed, Maxwell leading his crew in defense of Setlik III would be great.Such a movie could and should be about this dude:

I would love something like that. More stories about the enlisted and non-coms in Star Fleet would be great. We only get small glimpses of it during the shows but it was always my favorite parts. The only real non-com character we have is O’Brien, probably the reason he’s my favorite in the entire series. You could also have some set during the Dominion War. And Lower Decks... which is why modern writers destroy good ideas.Fully agreed, Maxwell leading his crew in defense of Setlik III would be great.
You’d get the backstory of how he lost his family in the attack, ordering his crew to defend the survivors, the start of O’Brien’s engineering career and how he gets his PTSD, the whole story about Ensign ‘Stompy’ and ‘The Minstrel Boy’ song.
I think it would be a great little story to tell, poignant, exciting, a bit more dark and gritty than your usual Star Trek stuff, feels like it would be right up the alley of my-trek. You would even have enough memberberries to keep fans happy.
Of course, modern trek writers couldn’t pull that off, I’d honestly prefer if they don’t even try at this point. Instead we get the Section 31 movie.
