Star Trek - Space: The Final Frontier

Who cares?

"Mommy, mommy, they are ruining my series, please help"😢😢

Oh come on, tiger. After all, I thought -

So, wait.

Now Guienan or however you spell it doesn't look like Whoopie Goldberg in 2024, despite the fact that she did in 1880 or something like that? And she doesn't remember Picard at all? Despite the fact they went through all the effort and expect to actually GET Goldberg back?

Rewatching TOS makes me question the whole "Humanity was supposed to have moved past religion" shit that they did in TNG and later. There was a whole episode where they find Space Rome and there's basically a cult of Sun Worshipers. Except they're not Sun Worshipers, they're Son Worshipers, as in Son of God. Kirk mentions Christ by name.
They also get that one AI to blow himself up because it committed murder, which even it stated was "Against the laws of man and God."
I think they also have a church on the Enterprise.

I always wondered what the fuck was up with that. It looks like she's about to unleash fucking force lightning on him. They seem to imply that Guinan's people have some sort of ability to defend themselves against the Q, and that the Q do NOT like them.
And it's never fucking explained. At all. It's like they forgot that entire scene ever happened.
And if she has some abilities that could rival the Q then why does she act and think like some random black woman in 2024?

You know? I think religion's role in the space faring distant future sounds like an interesting concept. You can say that their religious views have moderated in a way that's compatible with the humanist values of the Federation.
I agree. I like the way TOS approached religion. The Federation as described during TOS was more humanist than full on fedora-tippers like in TNG. When I think about the future, I think the main religions will still be present but they will go through a bunch of reforms, it won't be about how one god is better than the others or how they need to convert every corner of the galaxy. Instead it will be used as moral guidance and help those believers to face their fear of the unknown or the danger that they will find in outer space.

Remember, religions and ancient human superstitions are stupid and need to be mocked in the 24th century. Except for some reason Chakotay and his [fake] Native American mumbo jumbo.

I think that late TNG episode with the Indian planet is perhaps the most woke episode of the series and one of the absolute worst. Remember that old Indian accusing Picard's ancestor of being a colonizer with no proof except magical Indian intuitive knowledge?

It's also the best because isn't that the absolute last time we're cursed with seeing Wesley?

Unless you count his non-speaking cameo in Nemesis.
TBH, him betraying the Enterprise pissed me off. It was out of character.

I remember reading an interview with one of the staff writers (maybe it was Moore?) where he said he wrote it like that because he thought it was out of character for Wesley to want to join Starfleet. And I'm like, "N*gga, what?" Wanting to be in Starfleet was Wesley Crusher's entire raison d'être as created by Gene himself.

There seemed to be an underlying seething hatred of Starfleet and the Federation by some writers, especially the DS9 ones. They did this again by having Jake Sisko pass on Starfleet, although admittedly that was handled better and more believable. And the writers were, for some reason, proud that Bajor rebuffed Federation and never joined.

I can actually buy that Guinan wouldn't remember a guy who she only knew for a few days 200+ years previously, or at least would have forgotten what he looked like. Of course, that just leads to the question of why Picard didn't just remind her about their earlier encounter, other than that the producers for some bizarre reason seem to think viewers wouldn't remember a TNG two-parter (if admittedly a very average one), but would remember things like Sanctuary Districts or the punk on the bus.

Not necessarily. Could be their version of making a cross sign to protect yourself from evil. There must be a few cultures that see the Q as demonic.
I figure considering DS9
Q seems to be not quite as omniscient as he claims to be, and once somebody is beyond basic spacetime he has a glass jaw, like Guinan, be it for racial buff or nexus shits, and then Sisko who's demi-other god like alien flat out decks him and then Q is like "uhhh yeah I let you get that hit in. I have to go now and never return to this show"
so Guinan is all WHAAAAAAAA KUNG FU BITCH making Q sorta shit himself makes sense from there

I liked the actress that played nuGuinan. Some of the dialog was cringe. Maybe since Gary Seven is a thing again we can get Daniel Craig to play him this time.

The only problem is that in the episode Time's Arrow she clearly did remember having met Picard 200 years prior and even tells him "go on that mission or we'll never meet."

I think it's more a non-denominational chapel (heh) but yeah some duo is about to get married on the 1701-OG in a section clearly delegated to this sort of thing and one of them catholics and the other doesn't which is sorta its era equiv of Dax checking that one chick's tonsils levels of WOAH

Having just seen the RLM review of the most recent episodes as well as seeing Patrick Stewart's interview with Wil Wussbag has made me realize I no longer dread the day Stewart dies.
It'll be like watching a family memeber suffering from dementia and Alzheimer's pass away, an end to the suffering.
People evidently never learned that you should never get to know your heroes. For instance, I'm so disgusted with Mark Hamil as a human being I don't really watch Star Wars or Batman TAS anymore.
