When it's good, it's really good. But some of it is really meh. I think the internet does DS9 a disservice by hyping it up so much. But I get why that happened because it was so underrated in its day as the neglected middle child between TNG and Voyager.
yeah it's good when it picks up, but it has a season or so worth of eps over the first couple of seasons that are just "some shit we didn't use for TNG"
and ironically on rewatches those eps end up fairly charming to see the DS9 gang do "A Random Thing Happens" episodic Trek style crap

I feel bad for forgetting the context of this scene... (Deanna was being mindraped by an alien of the week or something again at the time I think...) But happy I was still able to find the clip.
I know there's a perfectly explainable reason why she's acting like this (and I don't care or I'd look it up myself) It's still one of my favorite Deanna scenes.

Also, I did end up looking it up, and the woman who she's chewing out is named Ensign Janeway. Lol.

"Man of the People".

The guest star uses women as a receptacle for his negative emotions that would otherwise affect his political career. After a short time, the women age rapidly and die.

It's nice to get an update on Thomas and Q...but the thrill wears off quickly. :suffering:

Dredging up a name from TNG or VOY ignores the fact that the show is shitting on its own cast.

Don't get me started on whatever the hell Picard is doing.

Well, she isn't wrong... she just was too crude about it. Normal Troi would have been more politically correct.

I may have to rewatch DS9.
I have very fond memories of DS9 but I watched it in its initial run. Having it and B5 on on the same afternoon (thank you syndication) was a magical time. I say give it another chance. It really does pick up in season 3.

Also, the thought of Sirtis taking on the Borg as security chief is hilarious.

No, I don't think Troi was correct here.
As funny as it is to make fun of a Janeway, it seems like her boss was just being an unrealistic asshole.

I freely admit that I don't know what a "0.23 variance" actually means, but it doesn't sound like much to me, and Ensign Janeway herself says that it's "well within specifications," so it isn't even like she did anything wrong. She just has a shit boss, and Deanna took the side of the shit boss because of mind-raper of the week.

Thanks to MajorGrin, I always laugh whenever she says these lines.

Still cracks me up.

I see NuTrek has trannies in it. I'm unsurprised yet somehow still disappointed.
Tbf, so did the Berman era. There was that species of non-binary people who sometimes identified as male or female, plus Data's line about "invited transgender species" in Nemesis. Oh, and how can we forget this beautiful image:

It seems trans issues weren't even discussed. My understanding is that Armin wanted to play things way more seriously and give the episode an arc but the showrunners wanted to play it for laughs.

When you watch the DVD commentaries for Farscape, everyone LOVES Paul Goddard, which surprises me, because I can't stand him.
I'm pretty sure that's the number one reason why Armin was such a major conduit for episodes.

The funniest thing about the non-binary alien race episode from TNG is that, true to form, Riker just had to fuck one of them.

Dude can't stop himself.
