On a more positive note:

Happy 35th Anniversary to TNG.

Saw this on steam. Still salty even though I don't have the game.

Also we lost Louise Fletcher while we were down.

RIP our villainous queen.

The fact that she was only in 14 episodes yet is one of the most memorable villains in the series speaks to how well the character was written and performed. RIP

I enjoyed most of the reboot novels up through Worlds of Deep Space 9 as time killer relaxation after work. There are fun stories that can be told in the post DS9 setting, but I'll believe it when I see it. At least it'll be on my comic site for free.

Was watching DS9's "captive pursuit" for the first time and I love this closing (sorry I couldn't find a clip).

SISKO: Save it. You ignored your duty to Starfleet. You took off your comm. badge so you could ignore me. You even ignored the Prime Directive by interfering with their damned hunt. Another stunt like this and your wife won't have to complain about the conditions here anymore. Do I make myself clear?
O'BRIEN: I understand. I was surprised by one thing, sir.
SISKO: What's that?
O'BRIEN: I knew I couldn't override all the security seals on the station, and I figured once you and the Constable located us, well, it'd be over. We'd find ourselves locked behind some forcefield somewhere.
SISKO: I guess that one got by us.
O'BRIEN: Yes, sir. Thank you, sir.
SISKO: Dismissed.

God I miss this writing and maturity.

Had some time on my hands, so I decided to make a clip of that scene, though the source I used isn't a very high quality video.

Definitely miss the time when shows had writers that could actually write mature characters.

Meanwhile Michael Burnham is on her fifth crying fit.

Part of what I'm afraid of is that we could grab those exact same writers back in the room and they wouldn't be able to do it again.

Making a whole episode about a deliberately annoying character is questionable (although the ending arguably makes it worth it) but dang Lower Decks can really put in the effort when they want to. It's almost like the show's being made by people who actually like Star Trek.
