After watching enough of the show, the meta of the show is "Weapons at Maximum!" As in, whatever facilitates action is what needs to happen in the story while TNG in particular about about finding ways to AVOID action. Not to be confused with nothing happening, it's that the drama was based typically on diplomacy or the weapons were typically ineffective or inappropriate for the situation. S3 of Picard? Well, even Moriarty's pointing a gun now; the guy that just wants to be a real human and evolved past his villainy.

I think someone hit the nail on the head eariler when they said the series is more the movie version of TNG than the thoughtful, intelligent TV version of TNG. This is the version of TNG where the Borg get shot up by a machine gun on the holodeck. I still think it's better that whatever the season one and two were. I never expected it to come close to the TV show.

Eh, Leyton and Pressman were competent; they just fundamentally disagreed with Federation policy. The dirty secret is that Leyton was also completely right and had they listened to him, the Federation would have had a 2 year lead-time on the Dominion War. They might have even prevented the war completely by destroying the wormhole.
Didn't see enough about pressman to say one way or the other but given how the whole coup thing went for leyton and how many times he fucked up and outed shady behavior i'm not sure i'd call him the most competent officer out there

Michelle Zatlyn said:
OG star trek with shatner and NG are the only star treks that matter. The rest are garbage or woke garbage.
*Ahem*

That said, apparently the next episode of picard is called dominion and includes another secret guest star from the past who is currently being kept hush hush 'because if I told you who it was the whole plot of the episode would be spoiled' according to wil wheaton, who is apparently doing some interview after. Saw a blacked out image of said guest stars interview, clearly male and given the title of the episode and the general theme of the story i'm leaning heavily toward an appearance by another weyoun clone

The video in question:

Leyton was foiled by Sisko's smarts and Benteen's guilt, but his plan to take over Earth worked and even got normie civilians to think about Changeling infiltrators. Compare him to someone like Commodore Decker or that Admiral that took anti-aging bath salts or even Admiral Kirk himself.

Spoiler for the secret guest
Tuvok was in it for 2 minutes and revealed to be a Changeling. I guess it's ironic they blacked out the actor's image, considering who it was.

Also, I think there's been a Janeway reference every episode, and I'm starting to wonder if the finale will end up on Earth with a gigantic cumshot/memberberry of the 3 Berman era casts (whomever they can get) all together in the last episode.

Ok another episode of Picard spinning its wheels. Vadic has a tragic backstory, a group of ten baby changelings were tortured and experimented on by evil Federation scientist, which is how they "evolved." Not sure how ten managed to take over all of Starfleet unless they can just split to multiply. Vadic also is in the no-transporters club for some reason.

The big cameo is Tuvoc, still in Starfleet, now a captain. But actually a changeling. His appearance brings little to the story except that Seven can't rely on her old friends either, and no one can get a hold of Janeway for some reason. Some false drama over whether Data can be trusted.

Jack is psychic now too. Vadic knows his dark secrets but they've got to wait til next week. Everyone is guessing the changelings want to clone Picard so that probably won't happen. It's hinted there's something inside his old body they need.

This is actually retarded.

Obviously this is just lampshading a bunch of different movie production decisions and not any coherent worldbuilding. In show/movie reference material the ships have 100-year lifespans, not 20.
There was a Connie refit at the battle of wolf 359. They obviously stuck around for a long time, though presumably relegated to the equivalent of coastguard duty. Then again, they did want to retire the original Enterprise after less than thirty years. Perhaps it doesn't matter so much when you can just make a new starship out of thin air.

Sorry for being too lazy to check all the posts of this thread but ZeroHedge posted a interesting rant about the decline of Star Trek and America.

The Decline of Star Trek Mirrors America's Decline

On Monday, our fellow ZeroHedge contributing editor TDB shared an interesting post by Ben Bartee about the differences between the original Star Trek series from the 1960s and its successor that ran from the late 1980s to the early 1990s, Star Trek: The Next Generation (The Message Embedded in Star Trek). Since our culture has become more atomized recently, readers may be unaware that there are new Star Trek series currently streaming today, and that the cultural gap between them and Star Trek: The Next Generation is much larger than the one between the original series and Star Trek: The Next Generation.

There is an obvious political parallel here between the Democratic Party of the early 1990s and today. As Bartee pointed out in his post that TDB shared, Star Trek: The Next Generation portrayed an ideal of liberalism. But like President Bill Clinton's policies at the time, it was very different from today's liberalism. Our political spectrum has shifted so far to the left that 1990s Bill Clinton is effectively right wing by today's standards: he opposed illegal immigration and gay marriage, for example, while today's mainstream Democratic Party now embraces transgenderism after successfully legalizing gay marriage, as well as an open borders policy.

Just as today's Democratic Party dislikes the founding population of America, today's Star Trek writers hate Star Trek's original fans. That may seem like an extreme statement, but the essay below gives plenty of examples to back it up. Before we get to it though, a brief follow up on a previous post.

Hopefully they don't take a tip from the south park stick of truth game and have some super borg explosive jammed up his ass like mr slave or something

That said, I don't see how it wouldn't be borg related

EDIT:

a starfleet academy series has been given the official greenlight. So much for the idea of the next series being section 31, or some kind of anthology series

Do you think any of us actually PAID for the show you histrionic nigger faggot?

The only trek I buy is old trek. TOS accept no substitutes. Just picked up the GOOD trek movies on UHD. TMP,Khan,Search for Spock,Voyage Home, Undiscovered country.
Paid for... Oh man that's good. :story:
Did you get the director's cut of TMP, TWOK, and TUC?

I'm a little surprised neither Picard or Crusher mentioned the quickening virus as a retort to Vadik's screed against the federation. There's no way at least Beverly wouldn't have heard of it. Kind of meh episode and that Tuvok cameo was disappointing.
Yeah really though. The founders have no issues with mass exterminations and biological warfare at all. Case in point:

The whole episode came off as pointless and essentially picard being stupid enough to do exactly what they shouldn't do in their position. I don't see how any of them could have expected that to go any way other than it did. They allowed multiple changelings to board the ship and....why did they do that again? They didn't stop them from doing anything,, put them in a position where they could get everything they wanted and had no practical way of dealing with the changelings when they were on board. Did the think they were going to actually capture and interrogate them? How did any of them get as far as they did making stupid plans like this? and did that tuvok changeling not stop to consider admitting to being a changeling during an easily recorded conversation might not be a smart move and that it could be broadcast far and wide to literally everybody to expose whats really going on? They have some real james bond villain tier behavior going on here

That said somehow I get the feeling there will be at least one more unannounced cameo before the season is over. Probably in the final episode. I wouldn't be surprised to see somebody from ds9 pop up in some capacity. Maybe garak or martok. I also wouldn't be the least bit surprised if whoever that changeling is thats been giving the orders turns out to be the female changeling from ds9, still stuck in prison and this is all a big revenge plot for locking her up and costing them the war back in the day. It would explain alot, not to mention the weird hand communication shit and general attitude

I don't even know where my head is at this point in season 3. There's fleeting moments that are nice here and there, but basically the moment they stepped onto Daystrom Station the show has gotten worse and worse.

Also, can someone explain what kind of retarded plan involves stealing a portal super weapon as a distraction? It's right on the same level as Gob's plan to switch the coolers to trick Kitty in Arrested Development.

The big surprise will be a digital Odo and memberberries larger than my cock
Please God no!

I can't quote WonderWho but Salome Jens who played the female changeling is 87 years old now so I doubt the actress herself will be making an appearance. They might copy/paste her face onto another actor though. I think I could see her being behind the entire revenge plot maybe she broke out of the federation prison or somehow communicated with the other changelings.
