I give it something... it's polarising in a good way. There are ST fans of the original show who absolute hate TNG and think it's mediocre and cheesy. Some TNG fans feel the same about Voyager. Then you have the ones who think TOS is bad and cringe. And yet, all of those shows are still good and it's just a matter of opinion and taste. I am ok with STP3 being a mediocre season that some people enjoy. I, for example, don't think TNG1 is as bad as some people claim. (LOL; just watching Cullen's video and he's saying that exactly at the moment I'm writing and he's right about this.)

Which doesn't happen with STD and the first two seasons of STP that are just bad and only a very specific group of people of a very specific political views think it's perfect for all the wrong reasons. It's not like they like it: they feel that they MUST like it.

If media wasn't so pozzed by morons and you tell me there is a scene of Troi flying the Enterprise and saving the day, I'd think that's cool. Because, in TNG, she wanted to become a Bridge Officer and could already pilot in "Nemesis". It's a character arc that started in "Disaster". So... yes, it makes sense it's a natural progression of Troi to do this.

The people writing Picard, if they had a scene like this, they probably never saw "Disaster" and would make her do that because she's a woman and FUCK YEAH, WOMAN! and people will reject that immediately despite it can make sense that she does it. That is a reaction I'm seeing in a lot of media featuring any "minority" doing something cool: do they do it because the character is meant to be like this or because they are minorities?

These fuckers are never gonna understand how much damaged they have caused to female characters. I can believe that, after all these years, Beverly and Troi have improved and learned new things and become thougher.

so much fucking this, and that's why it's all hollow. they didn't put in all the memberberries and fanservice because they like trek or the people who like watching trek, it was a simple course correction after everyone made fun and collectively shat on season 1+2 (and nutrek as a whole). remember stewart was a writer for that, and he and everyone else made a big deal about that, now suddenly he's ok with going back to the role he apparently hated and did his best to fuck with the first two seasons? nah man.

it was always just a vehicle to sell paramount+, and going by season 3 that shit must have worse numbers than expected, otherwise there's no reason to go full

oh you like proper trek? just have more fanservice instead so it looks like and has the things of the trek of old you like!

never mind they all fucked with it on purpose and didn't give a rats ass what the "fans" wanted. if they really cared that much they would've done it from season 1, or nutrek as a whole, but they didn't and we all know why, same as we know why S3 is the thing it is. it's all so fucking corporate and calculated, with enough seals clapping because HE SAID THE THING, I GET THAT REFERENCE!!!! XD

if all the thing has going for it is memberberries and fanservice, it's completely pointless. it needs to be good without any of that.

shit writers write shit deaths. killing off one of the ensemble has quite an impact (if it lasts, which modern writers fuck up too), both for the series/movie as for the viewer, however it comes with the expectation that the death should be earned and have purpose, not just for shock value.

like there's a difference sacrificing yourself to protect someone/escape or trip over your cat in the kitchen and break your neck on the stove.

Jesus wept it was a bad ending. Sure it was cool to see some Enterprise D beauty shots, but my god the story doesn't stand up to the slightest scrutiny.

Couple thoughts while watching:

Why the fuck would your incredible ship deployment network be based on line of sight??

So Picard could have removed himself from the collective whenever he wished but wasn't strong enough? Sisko should have beat his ass and tossed him out of airlock.

They really gave us a Star Wars ripoff ending? Data putting the Borg to sleep was so much more satisfying. Even Janeway's take down of the Borg was better, I wish I knew then what I know now. I would have cherished Voyager instead of shitting on it.

The Raffi and Seven show is a hard pass. I can't muster any desire to find out will those two go hallway to hallway on the holodeck.

I guess some human stuff went on too but that was boring and I tuned that garbage out. The next Star Trek series should be starships doing Fast and Furious shit. Star Trek Tera Nova drift here we come baby.
 
Well that certainly was something. They shoved so many memberberies down my throat I think I might have choked a little. This could've been the best season of Picard even though they brought the Borg back into the story again. But they sacrificed overall good storytelling for nostalgia that like others have said is just so hollow.

There's not a chance in hell I'm gonna even pirate the Raffi and Seven power hour it's a non-starter that I don't think will last long. Seven ended being a popular character on Voyager but I don't think Jeri Ryan can carry an entire series (if they do it) pretty much by herself.

Why did they bring Q back? I don't see what the point of doing that is when there's so many other stories that could be told with the series.

Worf was the highlight of this season for me. I enjoyed most of his dialogue even the scenes with Raffi for the most part.

I think the actor that played Jack did a pretty decent job even though his writing was kind of crap.

Was glad Tuvok didn't really get killed he was one of the best characters on Voyager.

I did enjoy seeing Alice Krige all Gigered up as the queen hopefully one last time. I always thought she did a good job with the character.

To sum it up: "He's dead Jim."
 
Ya know, interesting question for a future show to address: the Federation using biological weapons to win its wars. With the confirmation of this last episode, that's twice now.

Also, brutal, almost Nazi like medical experimentation/horror on current foes.

Honestly, a future show could pick up on some of the bleak elements DS9 tried to address about the Federation.
 
Star Trek managed to do Star Wars better than modern Star Wars. The Enterprise doing the Death Stars run was bonkers, but I just can't not love it. The Giger Borg Queen and zomborg were delightfully horrific. I loved the call back of the crew playing cards to close out the show. Nice callback to All Good Things. Q coming back to troll Jack to indicate the start of a new generation was also nice. Good to see the Enterprise D take its place next to the Enterprise A in the space museum.

Not a fan of Seven/Rafi CO/XO. Not especially fond of the rename. But did like seeing the Enterprise be a Constitution Class ship again instead of a space hotel/cruise ship thing like its successors. After Enterprises B through F met an untimely end I guess Starfleet was leery of putting the name on a new top of the line ship.

I would imagine this is how it went down at their quarterly State of Starfleet meeting on Space Zoom:

"Anytime we put the name Enterprise on a ship it gets blown up. Repairing all the damage from the latest Borg attack has put our fleet spend budget deeply in the red. We've had to take a large loan from the Ferengi to cover the shortfall. Speaking candidly, those space jews are raping us on the interest. We can't afford to lose another new ship. What are we going to do?"

"Why don't we not use the name for a while?"

"We can't do that. Due to merchandise rights, we are contractually obligated to have an active starship named Enterprise."

"Why don't we rename an existing ship Enterprise?"

"GOOD IDEA! What ships do we have in the sector we can rename?"

"The Titan is the only one in the sector sir."

"We only have one ship in the sector? But this is Earth. Why don't we keep more ships around Earth?"

"Because of the Fleet Utilization KPM sir. It must be at 99% to be at goal. Any ships in the Earth sector are considered not utilized. It's a big part of all our SPACE PDRs."

"Oh. Ok. I suppose that make sense. It's not like Earth is attacked every day."

"So the Titan is our only option. Is everyone aligned to renaming the Titan the Enterprise?"

"Yes sir. The Titan is fully amortized so even if it gets blown up it won't significantly impact our starship loss KPM. Then we can use the Titan name on our new Omega Buttfucker 2000 Class Starship."

"Sounds like a solid plan."

"Do we have the ability to speak freely in this room sir?"

"Sure."

"I'm not sure Omega Buttfucker 2000 is an appropriate name for our new starship class."

"Neither do I but senior Federation leadership is going all in on Space DE & I so there's not much we can do."

"Understood. Buttfucker it is."

Trek had run continually for 13-14 years by the time Enterprise came out. People were bored of the same old shit. Fresher shows like Stargate SG-1, Farscape, X-Files and Buffy were more appealing and fun to watch than more stale old Star Trek. With how shit TV is these days I'm sure Enterprise would be seem like Lord of the Rings if it was released today. But back at the end of the 90's there were a lot more choices for quality viewing.

That needs to just die. It's like the transformers fanboys wanting "anime accurate" figures from the inconsistently and poorly animated cartoon. Just because the original series looks like shit subsequent shows set in the same time period shouldn't look like shit. Repeat to yourself its just TV I should really just relax.

Well, they keep setting shows in the TOS era. If they want JJ Trek aesthetics, they can't set the show in that time period. SNW really does look like expensive cosplay because of their adherence to JJ Trek.

SNW is just off in general. The tone is all wrong. Everyone is too quippy and back talky. Maybe that's why they kicked all the women off the Enterprise by the time of TOS. Starfleet realized having a ship full of women was a horrible mistake.

I don't have a problem how the bridge looks. And it's refreshing that it's lit. Crew quarters on the other hand. Way too lavish. It's an exploration vessel not a luxury yacht.
