Too bad they introduced something else that immediately needed to be "rebooted," i.e. spending a whole movie just getting Spock back.
Can you imagine if they'd had the balls to go with the original plan (or I guess more accurately, if Nimoy hadn't changed his mind.) and Spock just stayed fucking dead?

It would have been ballsy but you'd really need a replacement because the whole Kirk/Spock/McCoy dynamic had been central to the franchise up until then.

If we're imagining ballsy moves, imagine if they'd kept Kirstie Alley as Saavik and dropped her in to replace Spock. It would have been interesting if nothing else.

Or they could have just promoted Scotty to third wheel instead, I suppose.

Trek timeline should always have been going forward so that it diverged the moment TOS went on the air, thus exactly 2265 we get what we saw on screen in 1965. Including 'supermen' ruling most of Earth in the 90s followed by WWIII and the post-atomic horrors etc. Sadly later stories (the Voyage Home, the Royale, the Bell Riots, the Millennium Tower, Ed Begley Jr) didn't really show this divergence.

I did like the Bell Riots' "futuristic" idea of people making videos to be broadcast on private channels but it's crazy they were very limited, private, money-making venues transmitted on cable instead of something anyone can do for free on the internet. Was this part of the original divergence? Or an unforseen effect of removing Gillian Taylor from the timeline? Did someone go back in time and kill the guy who invented cell phones?

Plus that episode was just a total remake of City on the Edge of Forever with Jadzia as Bones but she doesn't go crazy and there's sanctuary districts. Also the tv-guy she hooks up with isn't as important or charismatic as Edith Keelor, but it's basically the same story substituting hobos-with-guns for star-crossed romance. The writers did have their fun little paradox with Adrian Bell so consider that box checked too.

I only heard about SNW showing Jan 6, since I wont watch that shit. It would be cool to see Khan take the White House like General Zod in Superman II in an episode called "Election Interference." That can be in the anthology series Skydance makes once Alex Kurtzman starts burning in hell.

How will NuTrek handle the 2nd Civil War bs now that Trump won? Will they say Kamala won (lol) which caused the White Bigots to go to War?
They used a lot of stock footage from different riots for that scene. The Jan 6 footage was prominent because it was so recent, which was certainly their underlying intent, but they never explicitly said Jan 6 led to ww3.

oh i dont mean of all time i just mean on that show
At season 2 what other relationships are there even to compare it to?
Everybody thinks Keiko is a she-demon who decided to make "Obrien must suffer" personal and constantly suck out his soul.

I'm including relationships that happen after that. Wharf and jadzia and odo and Keira have the chemistry of a dry fart. I Will Grant that jadzia going after worf makes sense for the character but I never liked it on screen

I never really saw the appeal of Odo and Kira together.. Kira and Bereil was probably a bit better better than that, but that isn't really saying much...
I have always liked Jadzia and Worf together.
(Other DS9 relationships that I remember off the the top of my head, in my opinion, Julian and Ezri sucked, Rom and Leeta was really dumb, the lower decks episode where they both came back only made it worse...) The only other DS9 relationships I can think are Kai Win and Dukat, which... I just threw up in my mouth thinking about.

I didn't mind Sisko and Cassidy Yates, but it did canonically end in a black man abandoning his wife and kids...

I don't consider Garek and Bashir to be a romance, as I've never seen any evidence that Bashir was attracted to Garek at all, and I've said in the past that Garek would probably fuck anybody if he thought it would help in his spy work.

The only other DS9 relationship I can think of is Grand Nagus Zek and Moogie... And I threw up in my mouth again.

Spock really should've stayed dead. His sacrifice meant literally fucking nothing if in the next movie they could just magic him back and Bones retained his memory. I really did not like Star Trek III. Honestly, much of IV I didn't care for (I know how much THAT'S a divisive opinion).
