If anything, DS9 got the financial glow-up. There's an old interview with Frakes where he grumbles about TNG’s seventh season being a half-assed mess because most of the budget was being funneled to Deep Space Nine. (Granted, Frakes’ word is worth about as much as my phlegm.)
From the looks of him, by late TNG a significant portion of the budget was going to Frakes' craft services budget if anything.

It's decent until Kevin Sorbo reforms the Commonwealth then the show goes to shit. It's quality is above that of Cleopatra 2525 but not as good as Jack of All Trades which, ironically, was one of Alex Kurtzman's first writing gigs.
I actually remember liking Andromeda quite a bit back during the day. But I remember falling off at some point and coming back and it being a completely different (possibly shittier) show, and I didn't know what the fuck was going on anymore.

It's neither that good nor that bad. It's better than the majority of Enterprise and Voyager, and it has some cool stuff you may enjoy, but keep your expectations tempered.

It's on a streamer I have, so maybe I'll check it out. I've at least added it to my list. the 2000s Battlestar Galactica is my current next sci-fi watch. I disliked the ending and so have always held off a rewatch, but I feel like the time is now right. Just need to find the time to start watching.

Yeah, Tubi has it last I checked.

I haven't watched any of the ST series at all past Enterprise and I'm not sure if I should. I'm easily impressed so I liked all of the ST's but my favorite was ds9. Are any of the later starslop shows good or was ENT the last, barely decent fart out of the franchise? I read summaries and analysis about the newer shows and I've never been very amused.

Happy holidays meatbags. (Nice touch, Major Grin.)
The sad thing is, a tv show (obviously without Wesley Crusher) about a Federation Time ship going to different time periods and fixing the timeline could have been a lot of fun if they filmed it back in the day before all of the classic actors got old or died. (and before the showrunners all stopped giving a damn about Star Trek.)

You probably shouldn't. The majority of this thread is just us all bitching about how bad Trek has been since Enterprise. A few people have convinced themselves that Strange New Worlds is better, and it very may well be. But I'm not taking a chance on it.

If you want some decent fan service Picard season 3 is all right and Lower Decks is an okay parody of Star Trek. Don't subscribe to Paramount+ just for Star Trek because you can skip watching any modern Trek and be fine. Out of all the sci-fi franchises that have been ruined over the last ten years Star Trek has the best chance of being saved because of SkyDance buying Paramount but it's still a slim chance. I'm waiting for AI to get better so I can tell it to make me five more seasons of TOS and never have to pay attention to Kurtzman Trek again.

Everything after ENT is shitty slop. You're mentally better off if you just ignored it.

Another vid from yesterday I appreciated.

Yeah, the first 1-2 seasons of Andromeda are pretty decent. It really slides off the tracks past that.

Also, Space Above and Beyond is mentioned. That's one of those shows that I feel like I was the only person who ever watched it or remembered.
You are not alone.

SNW is now this. What an awful trailer and I say that as someone who enjoys the show.

Didn't even take a day after typing this for me to feel vindicated. What the fuck was that?

Funny little video, but I ended up looking up what the ‘Dilithium Crisis’ was.
It's just finite fossil fuels in spaaaaaaace, making it a psionic doom thing was unnecessarily retarded when a post apocalypse galaxy triggered by peak oil magic crackrock dilithium that got there through reckless consumption could have been legitimately kino. Just like everything else potentially interesting (Terran infiltrators, Section 31 glowies going off reservation, magic mushroom dimension) STD totally bungled it. Literally all they had to do was not completely whedon it but they simply couldn't help themselves.
