I once went on a date with someone who was a huge Whovian and she hated Matt Smith's tenure as the Doctor. Was it really as bad as some people say it was?
Moffat spent years pandering to fangirls who spammed #Wholock on Twitter. He turned Doctor Who into a kind of focus grouped fanfic delivery system where every other line was a coy suggestion that the Doctor might be DTF.

Smith left (probably exiting the studio while doing the Hustle🕺), and the ratings just fell through the floor so you couldn’t really criticize him. There was a PR blitz with the Eleventh Doctor in America. Nobody stuck around for Twelve.
yeah I'll admit my tastes run a lot more browned and round
So much KY Jelly and corsetry packed into Seven’s suit to simulate a booty. To this day, Star Trek's most impressive special effect.

I never understood her sex appeal. Grilka was sexier.

Currently in season 2 of Star Trek: Enterprise. Enjoying it a lot and I tend to skip any signs of the time travel war episodes. Not sure if thirstposting is allowed in the thread, but T'pol is so bad!!

In other thoughts, I think there is a level of optimism that is still present even in Enterprise. An optimism of the "New Man" to come, where the demographic issues we're facing don't matter because we are multi-planetary and there are opportunities for brilliant men and women to rise through the ranks of a militaristic meritocracy.

What's awful is Jolene Blalock was fine with doing sexual scenes and did full nude scenes before, on top of the fact that she was a smokeshow, but the writers could only manage really fucking awkward fanservice scenes.

I remember when this thread was saying Jolene was mid.

She is, lol. For me it's the haircut. Women with short hair confuse me.
I have no issue with short hair, but it’s insane how committed Star Trek was to the Lloyd Christmas cut. TOS made it clear they had a full range of hairstyles.

Nu Trek overcorrects so hard, the Romulans look like LOTR rejects.

Sure beats "Seven of Nine"...

I will say Jolene gave a good performance of a Vulcan as well. Red Letter Media did a little bit on that saying how not every actor can nail it. I think she actually did great.
Disagree on the 7 bit. Seven was a 9 or 10 easy.

Meh on her acting ability. But that's also admitting I'd need to watch more enterprise.

What I don't get is why a Vulcan would wear skin-tight jumpsuits. We saw her in a regular Vulcan High Command uniform in the pilot, but once she's assigned to Enterprise, she starts wearing jumpsuits. At least with Seven of Nine, they handwaved it as something she needed to heal, but it's hard to buy T'Pol as a professional when she's dressed like this.

If I recall correctly, it was purely fanservice.

Jolene reportedly had to fight producers to wear Vulcan ears and eyebrows. Like she had to lobby for the bare minimum. I don’t know how much of that’s true, I haven't done a deep dive on it, but given how much behind-the-scenes dissent came out about ENT it would not be surprising.
