I haven't seen the episode, but according to other people on Bluesky, Uhura apparently uses a mind meld to brainwash her boyfriend, and they're not happy.
Oh yeah, Uhura uses a mindmeld to make the spic dyke's brother a vegan.
Okay, first, why not just make the two have similar tastes in scotch to bond? Second, HOW ARE THERE WHALES IN THE FUTURE?
I'm pretty sure they were beluga whales and it was humpback whales that went extinct. It was also during a fight/dance scene between Spock and Luanne in the Vulcan Matrix.

I'm not trans, but if any episode is compared to "Code of Honor", that makes it a special kind of bad.

Truth hurts.

This week on Star Trek: Who Gives a Fuck Anymore?: Patton Oswalt is a Vulcan, LSD is made canon and is still taken in 2261, and Primanti Brothers sandwiches are also canon. This is the episode where some of the crew turns into Vulcans and it's as bad as we expected. Luann turns into a caricature of a Romulan because why the fuck not?
He looks like a vulcan child molester. Like legit if vulcans had TCAP this is exactly the kind of creepy off putting looking vulcan that would show up to have a seat with pointed eared chris hansen

One of the bigger issue with the Voyager story line is while the constant movement does allow for new villains to be added in pretty easy but at the same time it reduces villains to one or two episodes arcs as Voyager is just trucking on thru.
VOY actually started strong, you had Jonas ratting out the crew, Lon Suder (who was supposed to bust out of space jail and join Seska, of course they dropped that concept), the organ thieves trying to harvest Neelix’s lungs, Janeway and Chakotay doing the “will they, won’t they” bit, Torres starting fights with the Starfleet officer class, Janeway giving her this Adama-like “hit the trap, rook” treatment, Kes’ psychic powers are escalating, she’s turning into Stephen King's Carrie. Looking for the Caretaker… all of this was serialized.

And then: control-alt-delete. They threw it all in the trash because, guess what, VOY wasn’t pulling in viewers.

It’s the same thing as Street Fighter 3. People couldn't take it seriously, not because it was bad, but because the roster was "stretchy guy...not-Dhalsim. We need a boxer... not-Balrog." VOY aliens all had that problem. Suder is Joran Dax from DS9. The Kazon are Dollar-Store Klingons. Literally just Klingons but with worse hair, worse ships... There are probably other “new” things they tried, but I can’t even remember them, which is my point, pretty much. They weren’t memorable.

On the other hand, it's a symptom of Picard trying to reinvent Seven as a badass when her greatest strength was her intelligence.
then she became a commander in starfleet for some reason

at least with icheb it made sense, he probably had to go to the academy and was a jr officer when he was gorily killed, for some reason

He is a Vulcan that's named Doug who thinks humans are "very cool" (literally his words in the episode) that Number 1 dated for awhile and is in love with. I can only assume that he killed his Vulcan wife to date Human females.

No it didn't. The entire premise of the pilot is that Janeway sacrificed her whole fucking crew to help the Caretaker. It was Mass Effect Star Child levels of contrived. They could have just said Voyager was fucked and the crew helped the Caretaker as their first Starfleet move in the Delta Quadrant. It made Janeway look stupid, in my opinion. At least Sisko had some kismet with the Bajorans as the Emissary and Picard had plot armor a consistently high moral standard.

I dunno, man. Voyager could have been a better show but the writers tried too hard to differentiate themselves from TNG and DS9. The Doctor and Neelix were cool, but the rest of the cast was just flat.

Icheb was the first in a series of self inflicted gunshot wounds.

At the time, people were saying Manu Intiraymi got canceled for yelling at trans people on Twitter and that’s all it took. But it's just as probable that the writers are just dumb. They lined up every familiar face from TNG/VOY and then immediately killed them all.

Tuvok didn't die, he showed up alive in Picard at the very end.

Shelby got what she fucking deserved.

Spoilers, Shelby getting raped to death by Borg

"And you admit to mind melding with a child?"
the organ thieves trying to harvest Neelix’s lungs
The Vidiians should have been the main enemy race for Voyager. They were smarter and worked as a foil to the crew by resorting to drastic measures to save their kind.
And then: control-alt-delete. They threw it all in the trash because, guess what, VOY wasn’t pulling in viewers.
The best part was that right before starting to milk the Borg, there was an episode which pretty much had the writers admit they did nothing with the Maquis plotline.

I feel like the Kazon could have worked if they didn't just default to making them yet another warrior race.

The idea of a race divided into sects spread across the galaxy makes them stand out from the unified governments of races like the Klingons, Romulans, or Cardassians. The threat is less them taking over the Delta Quadrant, and more the Delta Quadrant getting caught in the crossfire of their turf war.

The issue is that they're so STUPID. Rather than raid planets for food, weapons, or fuel, they're introduced trying to steal fucking water. A spacefaring race can't find any planets with water? We're supposed to take these morons seriously?

In Kazon "jail" you're told don’t cross the line, bro, that’s the rules.

Uh huh.

When Doctor Who did the same “don’t cross the line, prisoner” scene it was an intentional comedy bit. Here it’s meant to be dead serious.

VOY was okay, definitely the weakest of good Star Trek by far, and the only thing about Voyager I actually cared about was the Doctor. EMH was my favorite little bastard on the show by far, other than him I didn't mind Neelix. Everyone else though? meeh?

janeway is the ultimate yandere waifu

there's reasons why there's jokes in the fandom about how mirror janeway wasn't necessary when you have regular janeway imposing "the starfleet way" on people

I didn't hate Shelby

She was a well written character in TNG and more importantly she was clearly different then Riker when she took over his role.

Yah, she was a cocky pushy type but again getting the #2 spot on the flagship of the Federation during it's biggest crisis in a hundred years means she could walk the walk and she did. I wanted to see more of her but I knew that Riker would never move on nor would they kill off Picard so I wasn't surprised when she exited stage left.

I just never got why Shelby got all that hate in the fandom, was it just because she was slated to replace Riker if Frakes went ahead and moved fully behind the camera?

My headcanon is that most Starfleet captains are like that. What's the nine most terrifying words you can hear? "I'm from the Federation and I'm here to help."

It's especially funny because "Scorpion", the first major Borg storyline on Voyager, ended with Kes flinging the ship out of Borg space... and they STILL kept running into Borg ships and outposts for the next four seasons.
Actually that was the episode FOLLOWING the Scorpion 2 parter, "the gift"

But at least some of the implications with the Delta Quadrant is that the Borg were such a "top dog" of the quadrant, that all the other space powers were weaker as a consequence. Thus Voyager, a rather underpowered ship compared to a galaxy or defiant class, could handle Kazon ships one on one easily. Because if they were much more advanced, the Borg would show up and wreck their shit.

There are probably other “new” things they tried, but I can’t even remember them, which is my point, pretty much. They weren’t memorable.
Remember when they had Voyager literally fight the Predator? (Yautja) Only they were called "hirogen" in the show.

Later they dressed up as Nazis.

I mean yeah, watch Enterprise.

The Voyager also in universe had a reputation as a horrifying plague ship that brought bad luck to everyone.

There were a few Constitution class ships in TOS that were run by outright incompetent captains. (Only about half of the original 12 Connies sent out survived their five year missions, btw.)

David Marcus heavily resented being under the Starfleet chain of command for good reason.

The captain of the Pegasus engaged in retarded cloaking operations. Etc.

It could have worked if it was meant to lull the prisoner into a false sense of security. Maybe have a ton of guns locked onto anyone bold enough to try escaping.

Eh, I typically count that as an unofficial Part 3, given how it's all about the fallout from the battle with the Borg and Species 8472.

How about the cadet who was given a field promotion to captain and thought he and his fellow cadets could take out a giant Jem'Hadar ship instead of just going home?
