I don’t even really blame them because look at Dax’s other personas. This guy’s a fat ass! That one’s an old lady! One trait per Trill.

The episode with Curzon needed more than that though. "He was a party animal who fucked anything that moves!!" Uh, yeah, I know. "Also he was thirsty for Jadzia and that’s why he gave her his space worm."

And yes, yes, I know, Curzon was a stand-up guy at the end of the day, that’s why he initially scrolled past Jadzia as a legacy candidate. But it adds this unnecessary layer of Curzon skin-walking as an intern he wanted to smash.:lossmanjack:
They could and should have focused on the diplomatic exploits, him asking questions what people like Sarek or even Spock are up to these days, reminding everyone that if he had it his way, Cardassia and Romulus would have been glassed 50 years ago, and that the Federation Council is full of whiny little spineless soy-faggots these days. All of that seat neatly over a couple of scenes where he goes on with his daily routines: investigating the news, doing political research, hardcore physical training, trolling his immediate surroundings, lavish dinners, games of space roulette and what else he does.

All of that would warrant a two parter, frankly. They still could have hinted at Curzon wanting to smash Jadzia, but if anything that should be revealed when he's truly, genuinely drunk and close to going mental, because the world from his perspective has gone to shit.

I've made it through the first season of Voyager (I'm 3 seasons into DS9, and have seen the first few episodes of Season 4), and I have to say, Voyager sure isn't better than DS9 yet.

It certainly didn't end on a high note.

Learning Curve.
(It's the episode where Neelix almost breaks the entire ship with fucking cheese. )
I'm taking particular offense to Janeway and then Tuvok treating a bunch of Maquis who had no desire to ever join Starfleet like they need to all be model officers, including making the autistic Bajoran kid take off his earring. Neelix of all people (while literally in the middle of killing the ship with fucking cheese) has to be the voice of reason to tell him, "Hey, Mr. Vulcan, maybe don't be such a dick to these people who don't want to be here, but who are giving it their best shot anyway."

Behold the power of cheese.

Gonna switch back to DS9 for tonight, but I will continue to give Voyager a fair shake.
Season 1 of all Treks are pretty rough, and there are several episodes of season 2 I'm looking forward to..

Pretty much all the best episodes are s4 and later. You could honestly skip to the season finale of s3 and not miss anything.
That wouldn't even be remotely fair if I skipped 2 whole seasons of Voyager.

If *nothing* else, I would miss out on, "Threshold", "The Thaw", and "Tuvix" And that's just season 2.

Trust me, I have ended up being wrong many times in rewatching things in the past. If I end up liking Voyager more than DS9, I will admit it. I want to know myself now, and I do not have any inherent 'loyalty' to DS9, other than I remember liking it more back in the day... But it isn't like I didn't also like Voyager too... No matter which one "wins", they're BOTH infinitely better what has passed for Trek for decades now.

She seemed to be decent at pratfalls and not much else. She did a similar pne on Doctor Who a couple years later, but dont have a screen grab handy. She wasn't nearly as cringe worthy in that , somehow.

Wait who are we talking about now? The one who played the space gimp and then starred in that Doctor Who pilot (that somehow canonically happened)?

"The Doctor", holding his iconic sonic screwdriver...

Holy fucking shit, nevermind. Forget that nonsense... I never once realized that "Melora" was also Grace Holloway. And I am usually pretty good at catching these things...

Somewhere there exists a timeline where the rights to Doctor Who stayed at least partially in burgerland, and we wound up with Robert Picardo playing the 9th Doctor after he was done on VOY

While I cannot say how good or bad such a show might have been....I know with 1000% certainty it would be better than the absolute fucking state of NuWho for the past decade plus.

if they really had Bulk and Skull instead of those knock-offs it would have been gold

We’ve had every flavor of Doctor. Fat ones, scouser ones, ones that look like they sell weed, David Tennant, Lady Tennant, double rainbow gay disco Doctor... but still no gingers baldies? The follicly challenged still can’t get representation. Unreal.

I will say another thing. A bald middle aged doctor would probably have avoided the snowballing cringe trainwreck that was the perennial companion romance subplots...probably being the operative word here.

I'm way behind on the thread, need to get caught up, but I just had to note that Michael Burnham is on yet ANOTHER franchise spin off show now.

I think she's playing the exact same character. (Her name is Lena Silver.)

I feel like Picardo could pull off a 6th/7th-esque egoist fuddy duddy Doctor really well.

It's a shame that in their attempts to capture younger audiences with Nu-Who the doctor himself had to be hip and young until Capaldi, then they promptly lost their minds and threw spaghetti at the wall.

Hate to break it to you, but she’s actually good on Boston Blue. Better than any of Donnie Wahlberg’s rotating partners. I’ve never understood that decision, giving Donnie a partner at all. His acting style is just clenched-jaw exasperation. Physically allergic to rapport.

Man. CBS must be aggressive.

Well here's the trailer for the series.

But hey if you're curious, apparently CBS was smart enough to just put the entire premiere onto YouTube.
If you want to skip to it, the 4:30 mark is where Burnham walks onto the show.

I just realized you were replying to me though it's marked for "judge Holden" for some reason.

I suppose... though she's chewing the scenery pretty thick in her debut. (I am so tired of the "woman with chip on her shoulder" trope.) And I'm not some Donnie Wahlberg fan. You're 100% right about him. Of the entire family, he was the one I cared for the least in Blue Bloods as at least half of his cases would have been thrown out with some of the shit he pulled.

I don't think there are any "EMH and Seven" episodes that aren't good.

Also: reminder that the reason Seven dresses that way is that the EMH designed her uniform. Their dynamic was so good. They made him just enough of a creep to be funny.
