oh thank fuck, the JJverse is finally dead (trekcore/movie)

Beyond was an okay send-off. Nobody really wanted more of them (the idea of Khan coming back again made me feel ill), and then Anton dying just kind of sealed it.

The one thing I am a little sad about is not seeing Karl Urban reprise his role as Bones. For all the failings that those movies had he did that role proud (just wish he had more screen time).

It kinda feels like Urban was brought into those Star Trek movies just so someone could check off the “Bones does the Bones things”. He gets drunk with Kirk one time, calls Spock a hobgoblin one time, freaks out about the transporter like your uncle who discovered 5G towers. There's no surprises.

Then again, they tried to 'revamp' Kirk and Spock, and it made me want to kill myself.

It really feels like the whole point of those Trek movies was a proof of concept for everyone’s next, better movies. Okay, Zoe, you’ll be Uhura for now, but really this is about getting you into Avengers.

The big Trek game is still Star Trek Online. When it comes to like, fan service and shoving as much VAs as they can into any story as possible it's there. I have mixed feelings about it. Honestly I fucking love the ship combat part of the game, had my own Defiant class kicking ass out there. But then you run into the away missions which is a very mid MMO fare stuff where you're basically just going through your skill cooldowns on your hot bars. The one big problem is that, which is a minor one for some but me it just killed it: Because it's a third person game all ship and starbase design have this MMO style design where corridors are massive with the ceiling being several stories above. This goes to even bridge design and whatnot. Even DS9 gets this treatment. I know they've made it better over the the years but it still looks like a blown up version of the station I love and I just... fucking... can't....
I play it for a bit every now and then and yes, the ground missions are the worst part of it. Still wonky as fuck, everything feels sluggish and delayed, not too mention they're really boring most of the time. If I could only play the ship combat, I would.

Some of the ingame prices for ships are highly retarded, like the refit NX-01, imagine spending that much money on a couple of polygons, but I guess that's whats keeping the lights on.
