Are these toys to scale with the old Playmates ones?
No. The Playmates toys were 4.5" scale (I think there were also a few 6" scale figs at some point). These are 1/10 or 7" scale. They scale with the Diamond Select Star Trek toys and with McFarlane action figures.

The nice part about these guys is that they're loaded with accessories. So even though they're a (roughly) brand new scale, you'll put together a decent collection very quickly.

Wasn't the lionfish the first thing Jellico said to get rid of when he was captaining the Enterprise? Heh.

Yeah so the story …this always lodges in my head whenever I think about how completely indulgent TNG got... is that according to Ron Moore they literally had to bring in Jellico to be the bad guy so they could get rid of Livingston the fish. Because apparently Patrick Stewart had been petitioning against Livington for years, he thought it was morally unacceptable to have a captive animal in the ready room. Ronnie Cox confirms: that was sort of "a bone they threw Patrick."

And at this point I don’t even know if Patrick can be trusted, maybe he just didn’t like the fish. But why are they are worried about a fucking fish when the ship is filled with preschoolers who have no business being there, not to mention every other week it’s getting blown up, and somehow that’s fine?

When someone asked Moore if Livingston survived the Enterprise getting totaled in Generations, his response was he was eaten by Spot.

There's something cathartic about new merch being solely from old Star Trek CANON, not NuTrek. :story:
Sometimes I find it hard to judge, with this blatantly astoturfed stuff, if it's just me who doesn't give a flying fuck, or if it's truly the overwhelming majority of sentient beings. SNW does have a respectable IMDB rating, but I dunno, it does look REALLY shitty, imho.

That story only makes giving the action figure the fish even more hilarious.

Paramount astroturfs the hell out of their shows. Every time you Google “Is [show name] bad?” it’s just ten articles titled “Why fans say it’s better than ever!

And fans are too emotionally invested to admit it sucks. The first season drops, everyone parrots “We're so back!" Then three seasons later it's straight up Scrubs in space, but they’re still like, “It’s really finding its footing!"

There are other animals there. Remember that odd thing Alexander tried to save during a fire?

Scrubs had John C. McGinley and that alone makes any comparison of quality to SNW fucking wrong.

Thanks, you just saved me a lot of money. Somebody gave me some bad info that they were the same scale as the Playmates toys I still have from when I was a kid.
I'm not interested in starting all over at a new scale, nor can I afford it.

Is this off-topic, but I've had this question for awhile and it's never been answered. In fact, I actually remember asking the "official" Star Trek forum this once and was just attacked by the autists who will defend the brand against any and all questions/criticisms. They are massive STD fans (probably the ONLY fans) after all.

How does money work in Star Trek? Kirk says in IV they don't use it and TNG rolls further with it than "We've moved past such petty notions", yet I know I've heard both McCoy and Scotty in material of the time saying things like "This cost me a bundle" or "I saved a bunch", etc, or something relating to money like that.

Is it just Earth and the Federation that doesn't use it? I love world building so this has been bothering me. I'm not as well-versed as I should be.
