People are acting like it would be a bad thing if the entire series went on hiatus for a couple of decades. My reasoning? Good. The entire thing needs to be reset. Kurtzman needs to be fucking gone, every single retard involved in the production of his run of shows need to be fired and blacklisted from ever working in the industry again.
People are too used to a series always being relevant and think it should be that way. Shit needs to go away and let the culture and industry change for it to be great once more

You think Trek is just going to keep rotting and getting worse or will someone who actually loves the series revive it?

TOS was American gunboat diplomacy. It was patterned after what everyone who served in the world wars experienced. In TOS the bridge had to call the torpedo room and the phaser room to fire. That's what people knew about running a ship. They didn't have computer run ships until it was a plot point in one of the movies.

90s Trek was a corporate office building flying through space and an increased emphasis on the role of computers in everyday life. Write what you know.

In each set, the cultural zeitgeist and values are strongly reflected. Nothing in today's culture is worth looking at, and NuTrek is an accurate mirror for it. NuTrek is an accurate representation of modern "values": there aren't any, what is fronted is the freakish, ugly and retarded, and responsibility is being an eternally put-upon daycare administrator for adult children.
The idea that everyone just signs a piece of paper like "let bygones be bygones"? After all the bullshit the Vulcans and Tellarites put Archer (and Forrest) through?!
The fairytale ending for 90s Trek is making enemies into friends. They dress up and trot out Admiral community theater actor and put some bedsheets on some women and rubber forehead aliens, and they all sign an oversized vellum with bullae and ribbons. And everyone claps. They criticize "and they lived happily ever after" but still use it without saying it. The rude awakening is not everyone gets along, and Trek never showed that, except when they could solve it in forty minutes.

Eh, it's mostly boring. It's like a step above Deathstalker or those Gor films, but the Ewok films were far better as a fantasy-star wars.

Anytime I've been tempted to rewatch it, I just end up watching Beastmaster instead.
I will concede to your point on Deathstalker 1, 3 and 4, but Deathstalker 2 is a fantastically camp and fun movie, plus Monique Gabrielle is there with her ‘acting talent’. The remake was pretty fun as well.
I'm going back to watching Babylon 5 and everyone in this thread that hasn't seen it or hasn't rewatched it in a few years should as well.
Funnily enough I started a rewatch of B5 recently as well, just got to the end of S1. Their entire budget for S1 was probably as much as one episode of Academy, sure it’s low budget, but they are really trying to make a good, smart show with what they have. I’ll take that over shiny keys being jangled in my face.

More to the point, Eddington was a larper.

I enjoyed the Eddington arc. His whole Les Miserables obsession, along with the wider French resistance "Maquis" schtick, were deeply romanticized pretension. He was idealistic, but also deeply naive, and ultimately not a serious person.
It's funny how he styled himself off Jean Valjean when he's more like Javert. He's the one with a rigid view on justice and panics when his enemy doesn't act the way he wants him to
Which is why he broke the moment Sisko dropped the Trilithium hammer of real consequences. I enjoyed how deflated Kenneth Marshall played that scene (I also just like that he's the guy from Krull).
Reminds me of that one scene from Megamind of all things.

So if she wants a new haircut, would she need to see a hologram stylist, or does she just need to press a button to change her hair?
Another one you should look into is Andromeda

I don't remember this episode of Hercules: The Legendary Journeys.

It's been probably ten years since I last watched B5 and I forgot how many little hints and tidbits of the main plot of the series they sprinkle in to filler episodes. Unlike Jar Jar Abrahms the writers knew you had to have something in the box if you were going to have a mystery box. If they made it today you'd have the Great War start episode two and someone would be saying Make Earth Great Again. I've been watching too many current day shows because characters having an arc and development have blown me away.

Kurtzman's contract is up for renewal at the end of the year and with how badly everyone has been clowning on Star Trek: Learing Academy he's not going to be getting a new contract. The best he can hope for is to have season two of this shit dumped all at once and then removed from Paramount+ within a month like Willow on D+. I've heard rumors that his Star Trek shows get thousands of views. Not hundreds of thousands, not tens of thousands, just thousands. The videos Nerdrotic and his people have put out about this unmitigated disaster get hundreds of thousands and even over a million views. Someone who has a conspiratorial mind might even think that the new execs at Paramount got in contact with Nerdrotic, Critical Drinker, and Dave Cullen and told them to make videos about it. It's odd that they haven't done a review of any Kurtzman Trek shows before or since Picard season three which was given to them by Terry Matalas himself and now they're putting out, in some cases, multiple videos a week about it. But what do I know, I'm just a guy with an incredibly offensive username on a forum woketards view as Super Mecha Hitler.

The latest episode was incredibly boring.

Jayden the Gay Klingon even talked about how Klingon weddings are more interesting than this boring crap.

The only good part was when the lesbian broke her toe.

The Khosians or whatever they're called are supposed to come from a water planet, but they get married on some desert moon for some reason. Water would have been too expensive to render. Their architecture looks stolen from the Zora in Legend of Zelda. It's like they are telling not showing, just like how Caleb mentioned making the DOTs fight each other. I would have rather watched the DOTs fight than anything else in this episode.

Maybe they ran out of budget and the next three episodes will be all super cheesy like middle schoolers putting on a shitty play. That would be an improvement.

. @Curzon Dax-sama was right, there's fanfic that's better than this. My Star Trek greentext stories are better than this and those take 10-15 minutes to write. I'm going back to watching Babylon 5 and everyone in this thread that hasn't seen it or hasn't rewatched it in a few years should as well. Or watch Jack of All Trades. It's a Sam Raimi produced show from 2000 starring Bruce Campbell and it's better than anything Kurtzman has ever written.
No, seriously, it has become so bad I am actively looking for well written fan-fic.
Hey I have some recommendations.

Pretty sure its been mentioned here but Babylon 5 is pretty much a better written and fully developed version of Deep Space 9 and wont go too much into it, its defeinately the best not ST Star Trek you can get

Another one you should look into is Andromeda
I have watched all of them.

Jadzia and Worf win again.

If you find some good ones, post them. We need new, good Trek content or else I will declare martial law and force everyone to watch and discuss Babylon 5, Sliders, and/or Space: Above and Beyond.
Mate, I usually don't read fanfic. I'm asking because it has become so FUCKING BAD that this seems to be the only part of the franchise that hasn't been completely fucked over and destroyed yet. I'm asking because I have read exactly 0 fanmade stories.

In twenty years, do you guys think anyone will look back on SA with nostalgia?
We certainly live in an era of streaming slop.

These new Star Trek shows are like those ‘90s sitcoms that ran for seven seasons and yet nobody can name a single character or quote a memorable line.

But Eddington and Thomas Riker were both delusional glory hounds. Riker had the same immediate collapse when facing real consequences.
People who were just bored of paradise and decided to join up with some rebel group for the fun of it more than any belief in the cause could have been an interesting angle to explore. If only there was a Star Trek series where half the crew were Maquis and their old allegiance could be explored rather than forgotten after two episodes...

I want a Star Trek series that covers the exclusive Maquis experiance, Fighting the Cardassians and Star Fleet before having to contend with the Dominion completely obliterating the movement and being forced to accept they were way over their heads.

Only if every episode ends with Dukat killing everyone.

Think about it, every episode begins with a doomed Maquis crew about to embark on a glorious suicide mission. They could even make a through line of the Ferengi keep selling them arms and ships, then sell the Cardassians the information as to where the Maquis are. Make the Maquis really obnoxious, so you're rooting for Dukat the entire time. I'd watch that.

Have the Maquis kidnap one of Dukat's children, like the son he mentioned in the Tom Riker-episode. Make it really cheesy so that the Maquis appear as the bad guys and Dukat is just a father that will kill them all to get his kid back.

I thought the fact that STO decided to expand heavily on the Sphere Builders plans and scope was a fantastic idea. They show off the Kelvin timeline a bit after the movies and revealed that the Sphere Builders were becoming active there too and were becoming a massive problem for the Kelvin timeline Star Fleet. They also were not using the Xindi here as their proxies and instead had managed to get the Klingons to work for them building their space warping spheres
I think the only missions I really "hate" are Measure of Morality for retarded moralizing ( and that any option you choose resulted in bad consequences) and making us interact with Burnham, and the two Discovery chains. Thankfully, the story goes back to being okay when T'kuvma's sister fucks things up and causes a civil war.

Now if only they'd let us phaser Will Wheaton...
