The exception to all this is Psi-Corps, and especially Bester. I liked all the Psi-Corps stuff and felt like they were actually compelling as villains, but felt like it was ultimately underutilized.
As with Enterprise and the Romulan War, I'm still bitter we never got the Psi War or Garibaldi's ultimate revenge on-screen. Koenig obviously had such a good time with the role of Bester.

As for Season 5, JMS described it as "empire building". I described it as "nothing fucking happens". You didn't miss much. The story was told by the end of Season 4.

That's right, I shot Wil Wheaton in the ass and face with it. (He did not shut up though)
Phasers, disruptors, photon torpedoes. Nothing can stop Wesley from going on podcasts and crying about how his parents emotionally abused him. Emperor of the Terran Empire my ass.

Also I don't know why they haven't fixed the damn Ezri Dax model. Her face looks like she's shoved it into a bee hive and she's got a pretty bad allergy.

Death is preferable than it's current state. So this is hardly a threat.

JMS was forced to end the major storylines in season 4 because TNT canceled season 5. So JMS had to move stuff around.

Then TNT changed their mind and gave B5 their 5th season back. So they had to come up with plots. Season 5 has a couple of my favorite episodes. "Day of the Dead" "View from the Gallery."

I'm very happy that JMS decided to film the series finale when they were doing season 4 and showed it as intended. Because Claudia Christian left at the end of season 4.

It would have been a crime if the series finale didn't have Ivanova.

Have they considered reducing the cadets' screen time in favor of letting Paul Giamatti and Holly Hunter act at each other? What about having Tatiana Maslany in more than one scene? Somebody involved with Starfeet Academy decision-making has to have seen at least a couple of episodes of Orphan Black. Like, they know She-Hulk was just a paycheck, right?
How about making more episodes like last week's? That one almost resembled a Star Trek episode (though somewhat lacking in aroma) instead of a CW show with replicators like the rest.

New mission's alright I guess, but whoever got the idea in their head that what a 16-year-old MMO needs is more cutscenes should see a doctor.
I'd argue anyone that thinks games on the whole need more cutscenes should see one, but you're still right. At least they're skippable, because I had to redo the whole first half when it bugged midway through.

Thanks for the other sci-fi recs, Kiwis, been looking for something to watch after finishing Space: Above and Beyond.

The hardest part of a TV show is when stars leave to “do movies”.

The Telepath War was his big swing for the fences, with a shared universe and books. So Season Five is essentially a failed pilot. Crusade though… that’s when it feels like they rebooted it in a mall. Galen's just standing there bored with a staff. He's supposed to be mysterious but Woodward clearly doesn't know what he’s mysterious about.

It wouldn't matter. The characters are bad and fitting them in bad stories doesn't make it good.

Once again I say to Hollywood: If I am responsible for the fate of the franchise, why aren't I getting a paycheck? If your employees aren't responsible for the fate of the franchise, why ARE they getting a paycheck?

"Look at what you make us do, chuds! If you do not start liking the slop we feed you immediately, we have to kill off the franchise!"

These people are ridiculous.
This isn't the burn these people think it is. If you need to hold your franchise hostage to get good reviews, that's not a sign your show is doing well.

Once again in this current era, don't say the emperor has no clothes. Why is that so common?

Random brain musing. Before streaming, one key factor in the success of a TV show was the size of the key advertising demographic in the ratings, over total ratings. When the people making these shows come up with their targeted audience. Are they still creating that hypothetical around what would be the key advertising demographic? Even though that doesn't really matter anymore.

This is aimed at some young, ultra woke demographic, but why? Are they the people more likely to have a whole bunch of streaming subscriptions? It's not like these shows make money on advertising to young people with disposable income. Most younger people don't and can't have multiple subscriptions to different streaming platforms.

If anything, the shift should be to focus on older people who can afford streaming platforms. Is there some massive instatutionalised cock up where they don't understand the changed world of streaming when targetting their shows audience to one that doesn't exist but even if it did, they wouldn't be paying to watch it.
