So he's unemotional because he thinks being so stoic is being warrior-like or something like that?
Pretty much, but there is more that goes into it as well. He does claim in one episode that “Klingons do not laugh,” but they absolutely do, quite a lot in fact. It seems like the kind of discrepancy you get if you read about something but never actually experience it for yourself.

There’s also the fact that he works in Starfleet, and if he took on the drunken sailor attitudes of his brethren then Starfleet would probably just fire him for unprofessional conduct.

Fmk. Keiko all three. What Miles should have done.

I’ve always seen it as a self control thing. In DS9 he tells the story of him accidentally killing another kid while playing soccer and how it effected him, I got the feeling that he acts so reserved and stoic because he worries about Klingon-ing out and hurting his fellow crew mates.

Worf grew up on Earth, and has a detachment from real Klingon culture. His experience with it growing up was all third party, so he adopted the ideals of the Klingon without ever having seen the way normal Klingons carry themselves.

It's both. He has been a weirdo his entire life surrounded by weaklings that he could easily wreck by accident. And neither Federation society at large or Starfleet in particular would accept normal raucous Klingon behavior. He had no choice but to develop pretty restrictive self control.

But it's also the lack of real exposure to Klingons. Like if a Japanese kid was raised by Baptists in Kansas, and then tried to connect with his native culture purely through Kurosawa films. He doesn't get that in reality most of his countrymen are obsessed with waifus and manga, and not Bushido and swordmanship.

He tries to be the idealized version of the stoic Klingon, but doesn't truly get being Klingon, at least through most of his early life. And he knows it, which is why it's so difficult for him to loosen up and party at the civil war nightclubs.

Have they actually studied a single military or naval engagement in Academy? Seems to me like that’s something that should be covered for potential new officers.
At this point they have literally thousands of years of martial history to draw from. Not only that, but they have holodecks to recreate all this stuff. They could be reenacting Trafalgar, Samar, Tsushima or Wolf 359. Hell, they could be battle gaming Jutland and spending their free time giving Beaty wedgies.
Just from watching reviews, I can tell you that the show depicts undergraduate course work at a party school, which creates a very different kind of student from the kind of student we'd see in TNG. Instead of getting intense, focused, Type A personality types like Nick Locarno and Tim Waters trying to stand out with high distinction and nerdy, diligent types like Mordock and Mendon, you get theater kids doing their gen ed coursework... and they're the "Cs get degrees" kind of students.

So, the result is most of the cast play characters that are very unimpressive or memorable for the wrong reasons. Combadge girl is known for eating electronic equipment, Gay-den is remembered for being the gayest, weakest man ever, and Caleb is only memorable in that he is supposed to be this hardened criminal, but now has to soy out with the rest of the Academy students i.e. a shittier Chakotay. Fem'Hadar is probably the best of the worse in that her actress is doing her best playing cliche' drill sergeant, but is saddled by being poorly cast and poorly written, which are writer and casting director problems, not acting problems.

But what if they surgically altered Worf at birth to look, sound, and even genetically test as human? And then what if they used him to infiltrate Starfleet and kick off a vast conspiracy that threatens the galaxy itself? And he was gay?

lol, you think any of these writers know any real world history much less Trek history? Only MAGA chuds study military history.

In DS9 they retcon Worf so that when he was a kid he did a “that’s my ball” headbutt and accidentally killed another child.

Youth soccer trauma. :lossmanjack:

I like that this revelation happens in the worst episode. The one where he goes to Risa and immediately joins a terrorist organization because his girlfriend is having fun.

Canonically Picard was just some big French himbo picking fights with pool sharks.

1000121629.jpg

Then he almost died once and became Space NPR. Number One, we must consider the ethical implications of getting pussy.

Q and Worf: The Best Of Friends - The Quantum Reality
The only other person who walks on set and immediately oppresses Worf with his existence is Garak. Which I like, because it implies he’s basically the Q of that series. :story:

Was Tilly always this much of an insufferable cunt?
Yes and she was even fatter back then.

But less fat cunt and more fun talk:
What are your lads favorite ships of the franchise? For me it's probably the Ambassador Class (Enterprise-C) and the NX Refit, which never appeared till Picard S3 because Enterprise got cancelled.
The Ambassador looks like the logical step between the old Constitution and the Galaxy Class, with some Excelsior thrown in (Neck), Galaxy-like nacelles and an old connie style saucer (more like the Enterprise-A) and the round deflector.

I want future Janeway's future shuttle.

If we're talking about on-screen ships then it's the Excelsior and Miranda, those boats lasted as long as they did for a very good reason. If we're talking side content then the Shi'Kahr class, which is just a Miranda if it was built at the same time as the Wolf 359 background ships.

Honorable mention to the CEC YT-1300 class light freighter that briefly appeared in First Contact.

Intrepid class, smart and quick, with Voyager's many customizations, including the Delta Flyer and future Janeway tech. I'd remodel the mess hall, briefing and ready rooms.

Yeah, me too. Future Janeway is Janeway dialed up to eleven.

Ambassador is pretty cool, but I've always been most fond of the good old Excelsior Class. Also Intrepid, but that's probably just my nostalgic fondness for Voyager speaking.
The Galaxy Class is of course the king of comfort. Stage 9 really let's you appreciate its size.
