Star Trek - Space: The Final Frontier

Tom Paris starts an old truck - Punchinchao

transcript said:
PARIS: [...] This is before voice command activation, so there should be something in here called a key. Key.
(Paris gets into the driver's seat.)
KIM: What are you doing?
PARIS: Trying to bring this beauty back to life. Now where are the keys? Ah ha. Here they are. Okay, choke out, clutch in, give her a little gas, turn the key and step on the starter.
(The engine grinds into life with a series bang and cloud of smoke from the exhaust. Everyone dives for cover except Tuvok, who draws his phaser.)
PARIS: Sorry.
JANEWAY: Next time you might give us a little warning, Mister Paris.
PARIS: Aye, Captain.
TUVOK: I suggest we increase the ventilation in the cargo bay before we are asphyxiated.

At least T'Pol with long hair and a ponytail looked smashing.

"The microbes can be erased in time." lol there it is.

At least T'Pol with long hair and a ponytail looked smashing.
So the plot is ....Christ... :lossmanjack:

Archer has a brain virus, right? Because the ship gets attacked by… some space thing. Meanwhile T'Pol gets taken out by what appears to be a falling wall panel from Lowe’s. It’s supposed to be like her femur exploding into dust but Jolene is acting like she’s trying not to sneeze.

So Archer decides to delay escaping the ship to save her. And this apparently creates a time-travel butterfly effect where future T’Pol falls in love with him. Do they show how Archer even got infected with the virus? The plot just goes “yeah yeah temporal bacteria whatever.”

To be fair the actors are trying. Jolene famously hated this stuff but at least she’s present. She’s not giving the Robert Beltran special (he acts like a substitute teacher waiting for the bell). Billingsley is incredible at exposition. Whenever Phlox explains some insane medical nonsense I'm like “wow that sounds correct.”

Phlox has been a stand out throughout the show. He's a neat species, a really good doctor with great bedside manners and I do like how they differentiate him from the other Starfleet doctors with this whole "alternative" medicine angle with all the alien animal secretions.

Like you said he's great at delivering expositions which is something Trek doctors wind up doing a whole lot of. You really need to be good at it because the audience really needs to believe the technomedicinebable you're going on about or they just won't be invested into the episode.

I love how they have the perfect death scene in this episode. I know it doesn't stick but man it's beautiful
