Christ I hate Lower Decks so much. It's creatively bankrupt but people lap it up because it's memberberries: the show. REMEMBER ALL THE TIMES MILES SUFFERED? Yeah, we get it. You pillaged Memory Alpha in every single writers meeting.

I tried watching the episode where they go to DS9 this week. Even with the cameos it was still a cringefest.

It's a little overplayed but totally believable if you try listening to a zoomer nowadays.

Or really any generation just two steps beyond your own. They will have memes and cultural references that will completely baffle you even if you understand the words they are saying. Really Darmok should have been the standard of every first contact even with a universal translator. "We understand your words, but their contexts makes no dang sense to us."

I mean in a lot of ways Darmok is peak trek. Finding some new life that seems so drastically different from us, but as we work together, we find out we have a lot more in common than we thought.

If anyone was to ask me to sum up all of Trek in one single scene (or at least the best of trek) it would be that fireside scene.
