But then there's stuff like Wolf in the Fold, which opens with Kirk and McCoy trying to set up Scotty with a sexy lady to prevent him from becoming a lifelong misogynist after one woman did something to him. It's mostly banter but it's seriously some incel-tier logic those two have, it's pretty weird.
I like to think it was just an effort to put "visit titty bar" on a work expense report.

I just hit Wolf in the Fold in my TOS re-watch and the dialogue about Scotty's accident that nearly kills him and may make him resent women was caused by a woman. That's a hell of a backstory for the episode. What the hell happened? Bad breakup? Distracted by a yeoman's short skirt? I know it's necessary setup for the script, but I love the timing of Scotty's accident with crossing paths with the living embodiment of misogyny: Redjac.

Side note: I remember Redjac returning in the 80's DC Star Trek comic, but never knew it came back in a TNG comic.

The backstories you imagine before and after the episodes can sometimes be even more fun than the episode itself.

"Captin' I'mma be fine. I know shit happens and the lass didn't mean it."
"Nonsense, Scotty. We're going to the titty bar right now."
"But ah got repairs to do!"
"As your doctor, Scotty, I insist you get two lapdances right now and call me in the morning. In fact, I better come with you to make sure you get the proper treatment."
"That's an order, Scotty. I better come with both of you to make sure my order is being followed."

The majority of main Ferengi characters were played by Jewish actors. - Quark, Rom, Zek, Nog, and one of the two actresses to play Quark/Rom's mother, all seem to have a Jewish background.

Jeffery Combs- i.e. 'Acting' Grand Nagus Brunt, is really the only main (or at least semi-main) Ferengi character I've found who doesn't appear to have any Jewish heritage at all.

I couldn't say whether or not that is all a coincidence, because I didn't cast any of them... But let's be honest, the Ferengi were almost all Jewish stereotypes from the very beginning... Is it really such a coincidence that so many Ferengi actors are also Jewish?

But it isn't just Jewish, but New York Jew.

Who is worse, Troi or Wesley?

It's not possible that the stereotype is completely accidental and even if it was on Roddenberry's part, every actor (most of them Jewish) who have played Ferengi have, if anything, deliberately exaggerated it even more. They're Space Jews.

With the benefit of hindsight probably Wesley. Both his character and his actor are really irritating. At least with Troi Marina Sirtis will be among some of the first people to make fun of her own character. The commentary reel for Star Trek Insurrection is hilarious.

Nah If they were seriously meant to be analogous to Jews, they would have been behind the Dominion War.

Wesley 100%. Troi became a better character once the writers got off their asses and stopped giving her shit material (Marina Sirtis repeatedly standing up for herself probably helped too), and the actress is a nice and charismatic person in real life who her coworkers seem to like and still keep in contact with.

And the other is Wesley who never got better as a character, only less prominent, and the less said about Wil Wheaton the better.

Troi wore a tight outfit for most of TNG so she has that going for her, but otherwise she's at best a 5.5/10. Plus Sirtis has been kind of a cunt lately.
I read an article from one of the costume designers/dressers and they said in the beginning of TNG they only had one costume per actor so they couldn't wash them for fear of it tearing. They said the costume STUNK because of the hot stage lights and stinky pits and ass.
TFW troi's vag stunk for the first 2 seasons. :story:

Wesley, hands down.

Troi became a better character once the writers got off their asses and stopped giving her shit material (Marina Sirtis repeatedly standing up for herself probably helped too), and the actress is a nice and charismatic person in real life who her coworkers seem to like and still keep in contact with.

And for this reason. The actor shouldn't really matter but knowing that Wil Wheaton grew up to be an even bigger douche than his douchey character still doesn't help. You can't look at him without despising him and despising the character even more.

And most of Troi's uselessness was early season stuff, like where you'd see some guy yelling and screaming and Troi would helpfully offer "I sense anger."

Yeah I'm not up on why Troi is ungoodthinkful around here but it'll take real effort to beat Wesley at it.
Also one time I heard Troi sing a few bars of The Time Warp as Magenta because as a British actor she's legally obligated to have done at least one run in Rocky Horror
