A longshot, but I do sometimes wonder if CBS et al float these ideas, then see how the fandom reacts and decides whether to go with them or not.

Who was even asking for this? I can at least see why they would do a Pike show since people liked Anson Mount but I never saw anyone clamoring for a cringey animated series,
