I think we missed something....because the accursed fucking Star Trek Prodigy shit got itself a trailer over a month ago and I dont think anyone realised unless I missed it earlier in the thread

0:00-0:10 - Oh god they used the cinemasins stock "dong" sound effect in the first second...christ they didnt even make it a freaking moment before embarrasing themselves. Also the CGI looks like a scuffed Wall-E ripoff from the early 2010s.

0:10-0:20 - Oh fucking hell purple alien chink's voice sounds like the faggiest shit i have heard all week. Also the ripoff robot from Portal 2 multiplpayer has an insufferable british accent. Also the generic "hope n sheeit" narrative is already being vomited forth. Also the music is about 18981029% too melodramatic for the tepid shit on screen.

0:20-0:30 - aaaaaaaand the rest of the cast is made up of irritating rejects from early 00s pixar movies AND THE MUSIC IS STILL TRYING WAY TOO HARD. Oh yeah and the lines thus far are really fucking badly written and embarrasing but thats kind of a given

All in all......its literally like they stapled a tiny ass smattering of trek shit onto generic a CGI childrens sci-fi movie, which frankly automatically gives it a solid chance of being markedly better than the rest of the Nu-trek canon.

You know what? No. I'm not ok with this shit take.
The Orville was at least made by a person who clearly loves Star Trek. You don't have to like Seth McFarlane, or even think that he's funny, but The Orville was clearly meant to be a love letter to Star Trek. (Specifically TNG)

"Lower Decks" on the other hand, was from the beginning made by somebody saying "lol, isn't star trek stupid? Let me show you how smart I am by saying how stupid it is." It isn't even fucking close to the same thing.

It's not even that great. The bottle episodes are good. The characters are sitcom archetypes. I couldn't tell you a thing about Claire, except that she's an easy lay.

God, haven't seen these in awhile. Makes me want to re-rewatch some good old Trek on a loop while taking as many drugs as I can until I forget all about the past decade.

Sounds like some dumb cunts are projecting. Me being white and male has nothing to do with it. It's that the new shit sucks ass in comparison to the older stuff. Gone is the optimism of the future, the professionalism of Starfleet, it's a hollow mockery of its former self.
With any of the older shows I would be glad to be part of that world. But with STD and Picard I would rather stay right goddamn here.
