Starfield - Bethesda's new space IP: will probably be full of fun and easily trackable bugs

How do you think Starfield will turn out?

It's No Man's Sky with better graphics and Bethesda RPG mechanics. I might've been impressed... 8 years ago.
Disagree on the better lol
It might have sharper textures but what it gained with that they sacrificed with any life or color in the game. Even the scenes that had color looked drab and boring. No Man's Sky may look goofy sometimes but it manages to look goofy while looking visually appealing. Even the dark dank caves underground can look stunning with the color combos the procedural generated plant life underground can throw up.

As far as I can tell Starfield might as well be a companion game to the new Lightyear movie.

If nothing else, the game makes The Outer Worlds look like the mediocre nonsense that it is (charging AAA prices for a "AA" game is shit).

Can't believe people were saying Bethesda should've been "scared" of Obsidian for such a mediocre effort on their part.
That was just New Vegas cultists. And they still can't admit TOW was garbage.

And I fucking hate it. So much.
I mean, whatever. It really is just a question of how customization options are laid out; nothing is being meaningfully changed. 99.9% of players will make a character that is either male or female and it usually has little to no effect on the game anyway.

Saints Row 2's "body shape" slider was the only interesting deployment of this concept, it was 15 years ago, and nobody cared one way or the other.

Looks like they got rid of gender for character creation.

also lmao @ "over 1000 planets to explore!", this is Bethesda, there'll likely not even be enough unique content to fill 5 planets.
I remember when my friend told me about Spore and how revolutionary it was because there would be hundreds of worlds that players can interact with... Well, I wouldn't hold my breath. If someone uploaded this with "Halo 2022 trailer" I would believe them. First-person games look too alike in my opinion.

They're trying to erase the fact that the gender binary exists through culture, it might not noticeably change the content but it's still retarded.

How hard can it be to get decent voice actors?

Most characters seem like they're bored.

Vampire: The masquerade still has some of the most impressive va and that shit came out two decades ago

But if it doesn't result in meaningful change except giving freaks the option to play as dickgirls without having to download a mod, whatever? Ultimately it adds more customization (not the sort that *I'll* use, but that's true of most customization options in these games) and if it has no effect on gameplay or story then so the hell what? As far as pandering to tronks goes, this is about as trivial as you can get.

Skyrim worked as it was pretty impressive for the time. Graphics were decent, lots of generic content and quests, moddable. That isn't going to fly in 2022 with stuff like the Witcher 3, which had just as many quests, but they were relatively well written and interesting instead of CLEAR BANDIT/SKELETON/BEAR CAVE.

I'm guessing this will have the bullet-soaking combat of Mass Effect 1 with shitty Fallout gunplay and the storytelling/questing of Skyrim. Gonna be so bland. I hope I'm wrong.

They should capitalize on the popularity of Skyrim smut mods and just sell an 18+ DLC where you rail space-sweethearts. Would sell a trillion copies.

Like they're going to stop at "just" erasing gender and pandering to freaks with character creation. Give them an inch and they'll take a mile, I don't know why anybody would have a problem with the criticism about this. It's gay bro.

I'm concerned with how boring everything looks. It's the same problem No Man's Sky and Star Citizen has. Okay, so you got starships, space pirates, and alien creatures, but what's the lore and context for everything?
I think one of the reasons why Freelancer is one of the more memorable space sims is because it came with a decent enough story that introduced you to the setting and delivered some intrigue to the game.
Blasting generic space pirates for hundreds of hours is not my idea of fun. A interstellar conspiracy involving every faction in the game is far more in my interest
