Starfield - Bethesda's new space IP: will probably be full of fun and easily trackable bugs

How do you think Starfield will turn out?

A mile-wide puddle is fun when you scratch the surface.
Tbh I think the best first experience you can have is to immediately ignore constellation and do other stuff.

Ive probably got about 24 hours in now and ive finished the crimson fleet faction storyline and both of the UC, Freestar guilds and the terrormorphs and the repetitive grind is starting to wear on me a little bit.

Still pissed that the ryujin quest just seems to end out of nowhere

Yep, that's what I did. I'm having more fun exploring the surface of various planets than actually doing the main quest.
I just hope that someone will mod a Mako or a hotkey that makes the ship land next to you like in NMS.

Funny, this is basically how I played Fallout 4. The central story sucks, but much of the side content is great.

Boarding is kinda fun though its fucking bullshit you have to pay to 'register' a stolen ship even if your selling it to the fucking pirates. Especially since you just make a profit after registering the fucking thing so I dont know why you can't just cut the middleman out instead of having a credit check to make sure your rich enough to be a shipjacker.

gotta make sure the paperwork is in order for this legal salvage of a UC Sysdef patrol vessel

Bethesda can't do interesting stories anymore, they have fallen far from the morrowind days.

Thye just need to rehire kirkbride, put him in charge of all the writing, and give him infinite access to drugs, sure he would probably only last a game or two, but those two games would be absolutely fucking amazing and would have thesis's being made over what there stories actually meant a century from now.

I'm playing on hard because I heard the game was easy and I am a Hardcore Gamer and was getting wrecked in space. My stockpile of repair parts wasn't working. Turns out, you healing items get default bound to 0. Your ship healing? O. Do they look the same in the font? Yes. Is there any reason to change it? No. What the fuck, Todd?

You know what? With that super space magic gene tech at Enhance! there's no reason not to have a big tiddy Asari waifu next to you on board the not-Mako. Certainly far more attractive than anything else in the game right now. I wonder if NPC's can be given those space magic powers...

"I'm Commander Shepard, and this is my favorite store on Jemison."

That fucked me up to because I was spamming 0 but not being repaired. Checked the bindings and some joker default set it to the letter O
If your gonna do that shit at least choose a font that puts a cross through the zero

n my opinion, If you truly want a Alternative to Nexus that isn't "Nexus, but LGBT", you'd need to go p2p, removing the need for file hosters to prevent shutdowns. The Idea of a forum for it isn't awful, but would be probably eventually be attacked like we are, so you'd need to have ways to keep up a database of mods that could be easily shared around in case of service disruption, if thats a pastebin, reentry, or whatever, just a way to keep mods up and shared.
I agree about the problem, I disagree on the solution.

There are three problems. Discoverability, availability, and updatability. Your solution only tackles availability. There would need to be a way to keep mods updated, as well as a means of discovering new mods.

They just need to rehire kirkbride
The problem with line of thinking is it mis-diagnoses the problem.

Yes, activists writers can only write cringe, but they have no interest in making good stories. There's a clip that gets passed around where Bethesda writers say they don't put effort into stories because it's like writing a book only to have the reader tear out the pages to make paper planes.

Even ignoring that, AAA wants ESG, which means wokeshit. They want lowest common denominator so kids can understand it.

But ignoring those two things, they still won't write a good story, because all the classic RPG plots were written before YouTube lore videos and angry nitpickers. The only way to write a "good" story is to be incredibly vague so there isn't enough plot to have holes.

If Morrowind was released today (not as a re-release, but as if the original never existed) people would be pointing out plot holes and inconsistencies, that 99% of NPCs have copy pasted dialogue, and spamming "but how do they eat!!!" for every settlement.

Same thing with the inventory. In your personal inventory, 'R' is drop. In your ships cargo hold, 'B' is drop; 'R' is Take All. I'm enjoying the game but seriously, who looked at this and decided it was okay

Oh.....

Yeah, that explains a lot.

I've wished many an old fuck to get their chance to flex their brilliance again so vidya could heal and without exception the times it's happened they've all been huge fucking duds
you do not want another Kirkbride joint, it'll just ruin his legend
Case in point:

He was head writer on this, but he also worked at Telltale until they went under as a designer on:
Minecraft Story mode, lead designer on Episode 3 only.
Batman the Telltale series, lead designer on Children of Arkham, regular designer on the others.
and Lead designer on Walking Dead the final season.

His first writing gig since Skyrim or that one ESO sermon was Immortals of Aveum.

Starfield is one of the first times I feel a total disconnect between myself and the wider internet, all I see about the game is talk of massive performance issues, treating it like the next Cyberpunk 2077,
That was ironically, my experience with Cyberpunk 2077 at launch.

That quote comes from Emil Pagliarulo specifically (it was in PatricianTV's Skyrim video but I'm not searching for the timestamp). He obviously doesn't like writing for games. My impression of him is that he wants to do his stories like a novelist or screenplay writer but he's in the wrong medium for it. He's frustrated with players and thinks he needs to tard wrangle them to 'get' his story when really he needs to quit and write a book instead, but it's easier being on Bethesda's payroll...

Really feels like the sort of thing you do in the office to fuck with the playtesters and troll other employees but they accidentally left it in
like seriously 0 and O
R to drop and take all

'Nother Pro Gamer tip. When you get into ship building, changing the Z axis of a part is 'R' and 'F'.

God the UI is fucking shit and there maybe should have been a brief explanation on how shipbuilding works because I didnt even know you could modify bought ships until I found the edit button the other day

It's confusing. I thought I would hate ship building, since I hate Beth's previous build your own fun nonsense from Fallout and I did at first, it was useless and I wasn't aware of what I could do. Which is a shame, because having spent the last hour digging into it.. I like it. My ship now has more guns and cargo space than the Bismark and I need to start recruiting my Gainax bridge bunny crew harem. It's a good system, just poorly explained and non intuitive for the PC players who will make the most of it. Oh well. The UCSS Iowa will civilize the stars.

I know people speculated Starfield started out as Fallout 4 space DLC. I noticed during live streams Starfield looked like it used more reused assets from Fallout 4 even compared to fallout 76. Rageoholic stream last night Razorfist even pointed out Starfield reused vault hallways and stairs from fallout 4. What's the odds the elder scrolls 6 will used fallout 4 map but flipped with medieval buildings? Similar to how Cry primal, reused the Far cry 4 map but flipped upside down.
